  1. I use a mixture of Tamiya Black and Future/Klear, brush painted on. I tend to vary how dark it is depending on how dark the subject is. A bit lo-tech, but works for this brush painter :)

  2. so it would seem that there will still be plenty of Humbrol colours available as enamels

As I hinted at above, under the impending EU REACH regulations, Enamel paints may well disappear forever in Europe. From what I've gleaned about it at work, REACH is a doubly pronged approach to environmental protection, it doesn't just look at the potential environmental damage chemicals may cause, it looks at whether those chemicals even need to be used at all ie, if there is a more environmentaly friendly alternative to a potentially damaging substance, even if more expensive, then the regulations will force you down that route.

    Hence, bye-bye enamels, hello acrylics!

  3. Sorry Nev - I don't know Mario :( Could you do the honours for us please? I'm rapidly running out of people I know that I could invite. Just spread the word if you'd be so kind ;)

Mario is the Mexican kid on ARC who built an F-18 that came second in competition to the Lightning not once, but twice :) He has "issues" with the Lightning as a result :)

And a cautionary word, if I may. Is the forum membership big enough yet to support 2 GBs at the same time? Spread the participants too thinly and GBs can wither and die.

  4. . It's a good idea to keep a couple of flat brushes exclusively for use with Klear, and to make sure that you wash the brush out in clean water (not the stuff that's been sitting on your workbench for a fortinght) afterwards. I learned this the hard way, using a general-purpose brush to apply Klear onto a Automobile Association Dragon Rapide that I did for the Airfix stand at the London Toy Fair last year. If you look carefully, you can see little black flecks all over the yellow surfaces...

Glad thats never happened to me......

  5. There's also the famous footage of the Lightning struggling to keep up with the TSR2 @ Farborough.

And remember, the Olympus wasn't even the first choice engine for the project, but was forced onto BAC by the government!
