  1. There is a French owned warbird - a Spitfire PR.19 - fitted with a contrarotating propeller but I believe this used a Griffon engine from a Shackleton, so it is not entirely original. Looks different though...

Yep, and it goes like s**t off a stick! When they do the mass spitfire display at Duxford, this one cleary has miles more jump.

  2. If they're there for an exercise I guess the thing to do is go down the week before and hope to spot 'em in the air.

I'm off on the Friday so I'll probly do what I did last year and go for a walk round the area and see what I can spot as I wander round. One of my favourite things about walking is the spotting surprises you get every now and then :)

  3. Its such a shame there is no excellent model available

    Uh, hello? Revell?

As to Tonka decals, a lot of the schemes from the 80s are only available on the old Modeldecal sheets (if you can find them) and the quality of them isn't up to 21st century standards. As far as I'm concerned, if it isn't wraparound grey/green it isn;t a real Tornado!

If you PM spike7451 he should be really help out being a Tornado armourer and all.

  4. Kev, the big thing with the F-100 were the heat stains on the rear fuselage. I couldn't begin to reproduce them, but I've seen some impressive results using various shades of Alclad sprayed on.
