  1. *drools* I've seen that Hunter model in the flesh, and I still love it!

    Klear/Future

Yep, I have without any probs (brush painting). You can slightly vary the ratio of Flat to Klear in order to get a more matt or satin finish as well. But as mentioned, don't get too much matt varnish in there or it goes white..... Like Leigh, I also mix Klear with Tamiya black and use it as a wash for undercarriage etc.
  4. 1) You work quick! 2) Thats a sharp looking model!

    Airfix Acrylic paint

As I've said elsewhere, enamels probly have 2 years, tops before they go the way of the dodo, hence why the likes of Airfix and Revell are getting their acrylic ranges out there now. As for adhesives, the key thing about substances banned under REACH is that they are banned if they are environmentally unfriendly/hazarous AND a greener/safer alternative is available. Hence enamels banned in favour of acrylics.
  6. The Jags returned, flying down the runway centreline in a 6 formation We then got several formation passes And another one of me best shots of the day Finally we were treated to a stream of landings, one after the other with only several seconds in between, and Jags come in for landing fast, so you had to be quick with the camera! Full marks to all @ 6 Squadron and RAF Coningsby for a BRILLIANT days entertainment. Well done RAF.
  7. Then came the moment we had all been waiting for.......13 Jags coming down the perry track Count the Jags (this is after the first 4-ship had taken off) They then departed for an hour.......but to keep us entertained in the meantime, there was a 3-ship Typhoon display. Starting with a vertical rotation a la Lightning, they treated us to wonderful close formation display - in fact they repeated the routine several times! Even more admirable considering it was really, REALLY windy that day
  8. I went off for a leak behind some trees, whilst I was away, one Tiffie applied the power a little too early on a touch and go, blowing over several panels from the perimeter fence - one of them landing right on top of Ian!! A few cuts and bruises and a damaged ego were his only injuries - plus the honour of being the Typhoon's first kill! Here we can see the panels being repaired - at one point there were a couple of Rock-Apes with SA80s guarding the breech that Ian caused After that we moved to a safer spot on top of the infamous mound to watch the afternoons departures
  9. OK, my turn Picked up by Ian, aka IJ(UK) aka The Hunter Gatherer @ 9am, less than an hour later via the best back road in the world we are @ RAF Coningsby surrounded by what seemed like hundreds of fellow twitchers. Clearly word had got round! The mornings entertainment was excellent, Typhoons constantly in the circuit, lots of touch and go's, formation approaches, breaks, take-offs & landings. We started off right under the approach Got this shot of one about to take off - one of my favourite photos of the day This one is also a personal fave, and my current desktop wallpaper I hope the quality is OK - my camera and photography skills aren't the best, and I've had to resize them to make the file size managable.
  10. Hello Hector, glad to see you made your way here. Looking forward to seeing another of your masterpieces!
  11. Excellent. If you want an interesting diorama, I could tell you the story of a workmate of mine who drove one off the edge of a mountain in Bosnia.....

I remembered where I put it, so PM me your email and I'll send you a copy - I don't have a scanner, but I'll take a picture with my digicam @ max resolution. Nev
  13. That cockpit looks incredible, and all we get is one little pic? Rest of it isn't too bad either mind
  14. Hello Chaps, anyone got any pictures of XM968 when she was the TSR2 chase plane? A search of my references and the usual websites has drawn a blank (airliners.net, air-scene, T&L etc) Cheers Nev
  15. Inspired by PHREAK, here is a shot of 85 Squadron in front of their hangar @ RAF Binbrook, mid 60s. My Grandad, Chief Technician George "Mick" Dunn is front row, 3rd from left. Sorry about the low res, the real photo is quite large. If I can remember where it is post house move I could re-post a higher res one.
  16. *slaps forehead* My Grandad was on 85 @ Binbrook in the mid 60s, one of his last postings (he joined in '36 and did 35 years, man and boy). Chief Tech Dunn, engine fitter. Hang on a while, I've got a squadron mug shot somewhere.... EDIT: given it its own thread here
  17. Really? My old man was on them in the late 60s @ West Rayneham (airframe electrical)
  18. Someone give that girl a wash! Love the 3rd photo, looks very Gerry Anderson
  19. Great pics John! I'm just going through my 100-odd pics right now, then I've got to select the best, resize them, host them, and put them up! Might take a while It was a brilliant day though wasn't it? Full marks to all at RAF Coningsby, it was a priviledge to witness it. Did you get sunburnt too?
