  1. I normally use plain old steel wool for polishing white metal.
  2. Well, shock of shocks, I actually got some modelling done last night (!) Here are some bedrolls I painted - from the Tamiya allied accessories set. Note that I haven't washed/highlighted the green one yet. Here is the commander figure. Again, basic colours have been applied, but no washes/highlights yet. For the flesh I mixed Humbrol Flesh with some Khaki to try and get that sun-tanned look. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. So not a great deal more to show, but I'm just so happy to have done some modelling after about 3 weeks absence
  3. Thanks for that Leigh - I'm heading more and more down the Iwate route... As Mike likes to say, "buy cheap, buy twice", true for his mountain biking, true for my walking gear, true for airbrushes....
  4. NIce work. Especially like the FOD covers and crew figures - nice touches.
  5. Well, with a 3 yr old and another one on the way in January..... Thanks for all the input so far guys.
  6. Excellent! Like the little line up as well. All you need now is a Sea King and a Merlin (Osprey?) to complete it
  7. It is a great book, but it ends far too quickly, the other BB missions get a cursory mention "and the Falklands were re-taken. The end" Now given the later missions had drama like the divert to Rio, it seemed rather bizzare to just gloss over them. Unless of course there is a sequel planned.....
  8. Nice work on the 'pit mate - and the belts look great. BTW, are you building her real or an, um, hypothetical?
  9. What you've done looks good so far, but without checking SuE photos, I would imagine the underside would be much more "streaky", you know oil stains, hydraulic fluid, general liquid gunk, all streaked backwards from panel lines, gear bays etc. Also, any rear facing exhaust vents tend to have dirty, kinda sooty deposits around their exit.
  10. Any shots of the interior Ted? For some reason the Trumpeter 1/32 P-38 just doesn't seem very popular, I think this might be the first IP thread I've come across on the web.
  11. Touche' Nah, I'm definately "naff"
  12. Watching this one with eagerness Bill - always loved the peeled 'nana Of course, the sooner you finish it, the sooner Trumpeter will announce their 1/48 S1
  13. Gorgeous! And that paint scheme is sharp as a pin
  14. And I hope he was[/] Great Tonka Will, looks nice and chunky in 1/48.

    Display Cabinets

I got a couple of tall glass display cabinets from Ikea - forget the name right now. Each shelf is big enough for a 1/48 F-15 or 1/32 Hunter. I could do with a couple more, but space is the issue.
  16. Merlin enginged - what could be more British? Wide choice of subjects, including (GASP!) tanks!!!
  17. And how do you know about this language Mike?
  18. Just a question - do you have an EU mountain of Airfix clear stands, or do you just keep re-using the same one? And if so, how do you mount your old de-standed models?
  19. Well I've got the next camera up, the Fuji S5600 and my pics don't look anywhere near as good!
  20. Very nice, love the unusual scheme
  21. That's too bad, but he made the right choice.
  22. My old man was Tom Dunn, airframe electrician - know him? Tony Barnes and Alan Ayre were a couple of his old muckers, he's still in touch with the former.
