  1. whoa, that Mig-15 camo is sweet! Never seen that before.
  2. I like the dropped flaps - adds character and intrest.
  3. Thanks. In other news, fuselage together. Had a bit of a mare with the nose weight - put some superglue in to secure the weight, but it was runnier than I thought and attacked one of the lower front windows I've managed to polish up the outside, but the inside is a bit cloudy I've also decided to put a bubble window in the stbd door - raided from an old Airfix SAR Sea King which no longer meets my average standards (so it must be bad ) Would have been easier if I decided to do this *before* I closed the fuselage up, but I've got there. Question, should I put another one in the port fuselage? The other question is where to put the rescue winch - traditionally it goes above the stbd door, but that is inches away from the props.....
  4. Yeah, I have the Italeri Staghound and it looks like a super little kit. The Bronco Humber Scout Car is just the same - massive parts count. Why have a 1 piece hull when it can be made from 14 pieces? Shouldn't grumble I suppose, who woulda thunked we'd have TWO 21st centrury IM kits of the Staghound readily available?
  5. Ahhhh, 727 posts and the Ancient Mariner reveals his true identity! *pulls off rubber mask to reveal DTKS in true Scooby Doo style*
  6. Interesting thread, to which I have to add a couple of questions. I love the look of the Merlin, but confess to not knowing a lot about it Q1. How do the Italeri Cormorant & Marine One boxings differ from the other ones? Q2. Which boxing would be most suitable for the HH-71 CSAR proposal and why? Q3. Which boxing would be most suitable for the JMSDF MCH-101 variant and why? (merlin101s IP thread no longer has pics ) Q4. Which boxing would be most suitable for the JMSDF CH-101 and why? I only have the Italeri Naval boxing (without tiger stripes )
  7. This is done using a profile by Maverick on the What If forums Cockpit done, OOB, and not bad for Italeri. I've used a little bit of artistic license with the green MFDs, looks so much more interesting than gloss black
  8. Really nice work on the update - I was thinking of doing similar for one of mine, glass cockpit, lumps and bumps etc. Hope it turns out as nice as yours
  9. A stuning model of a stunning aircraft. And that base is just different class
  10. That first Jag pic is especially nice
  11. Fujimi F-4s are not as well detailed as the Hasegawa ones, but they're easier to construct as they're not as over-engineered. I can't comment on the accuracy of their G as I don't have it.
  12. Well after countless hours of scraping, gouging, sanding and fettling I've managed to get the main bits together. There is so much flash and heavy deformity on the edges of every part that it is very hard to tell where the part ends and the flash begins. I imagine vacforms are easier to build than this.... Check out the fit around the engines/wings - I had to cut huge chunks of plastic out of the engines just to get the wings through them. Next up is getting the transparencies on, masking them, and then - gulp - primer....
  13. Well those wheel wells and cockpit are outstanding, and the folded up radar rubbery things is a lovely touch. That canopy internal detail is also excellent. Having seen all of that, I have every faith you can pull off the bacofoil paintjob!
  14. Absolutely flawless paint finish, and terrific photography too.
  15. Its been rumoured for a while. Lets face it, from the day it was announced various factions in the Pentagon, White House, Sikorsky and the media have wanted it cancelled - because it is a foreign design. From what I understand, after it was selected, the Pentagon went and changed the specification resulting in redesign etc and then went "whaddya mean its going to cost more?"
  16. yeah, but how much will it cost? Hasegawa 1.72 Phantoms are RRPing for £22-£25 these days. Thats an eye-gouging price for an over-engineered 1/72 jet.

    Seafire 47

Beautiful Best looking Spit of the lot IMO. Contra-props, bubble-top, long thin fuselage.....
  18. probly best asking Ken Duffey (flankerman) on ARC - he builds a lot of Amodel stuff. BTW, I'll warn you now that a cracked canopy is the least of your worries - I'm currently wrestling their An-32 and its only the plastic thats keeping the filler together. A vacform would fit better
  19. Absolutely superb Mike! If I didn't know better I would've thought it was the Academy 1/48 jobbie. When mine arrives I hope it turns out half as nice as yours.....
  20. Wow, that is absolutely stunning! You should be justifiably proud of this one Karl.
  21. Rather a narrow field for a GB - perhaps a Cruiser Tank GB would be more a better choice? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Cruiser_tanks
