  1. Gordon Bennet!!! Why is it, that people who build the Tamiya Swordfish always end up turning out absolutely stunning models? (the Eduard Mirage 2000 is the same). I'm going to have to sell mine, because it will never look as good as this
  2. There's also Newark Air Museum which has a fantastic shop. And if you pop up the road to Grimsby there is Hewins (my LHS) which is a pretty good shop.
  3. Unfortunately, peoples ideas of what constitues Constructive Criticism can be quite varied. "I only said that was the worst Spitfire model I have ever seen, and that I wondered why the builder even bothered with models since I've seen 5 year olds produce better work, and he went off in a huff! I mean, how is he ever going to get better if people don't tell him?"
  4. Decals on & nearly there! May replace the fuselage Hinomarus as they are a different shade of red to the ones I used on the wings
  5. Another shout for the Lincoln area, for the reasons already stated - but let me re-emphasise, you are on the doorstep of FighterTown UK (Coningsby)
  6. Excellent - looking forward to seeing you work your usual magic SS
  7. I've long thought that a Lend-Lease GB would make an excellent subject (Tanks, Ships as well as planes). It also says "We may be Brits who got fed up with American Resource Centre, but we don't hate America really". And then you could follow it up with a Reverse-Lend-Lease GB (Spits & Mossies in US markings )
  8. Had it on pre-order with the LHS since January.....they weren't (and aren't) confident I'll see it anytime soon
  9. So, one coat of Halfords "Fiat Red Orange" later..... Remove the masking, et Voila! The colour is a pretty close match to the orangey-red used on the real thing, even if I do say so myself However.... Grrrrr.....most of the areas of creep have arisen around the raised panel lines & rivets on the model Thankfully they're proving to not hard to carefully remove...
  10. Well I spent 2 hours playing with masking tape last night Worst part is, I know there will be a tiny little gap somewhere that I've missed that will result in some red/orange creeping through onto the white - we'll just have to wait and see where it is, won't we? Note the grey stickers under the wings - these are from one of the boys wooden models, for its wheels, but are the perfect size for masking a Hinomaru And then it was out with the Halfords Dayglo Orange This is for the nose and ramp, but I did the whole thing because the main red colour has an orange hue which I wanted to show
  11. I believe this is what is known in business as a "cash cow"
  12. That looks terrific, good job on staying the course
  13. I asked on ARC, apparantly on the CSAR variants for the USAF & USN, the winch is at the back of the cabin and goes out through the top half of the ramp (which is split in 2)
  14. Right, several coats of Halfords White Primer later.... Will be breaking out the Halfords Appliance White tomorrow (weather permitting) Next is question is how to paint the engine pods. 1) As per the profile 2) Overall white 3) Overall dayglo orange (common on wingtips of JMSDF/JSDF birds)
  15. Fantabulous! I reckon my Revell Easykit (£4.75 from Tesco) of this subjet won't look quite as good when done
  16. Absolute beauty, in a classic scheme to boot
  17. Oooh, snap! I'm at almost the same stage with the same kit - mine will be Indian, mind. I have the Quickboost nose as well, and dry fitting it appears to be cock-on.
  18. It looks great, and you're so close to finishing, so don't let this little setback discourage you - its gunna look great when its done
  19. Thats a beauty! Just shows what can be done with these kind of kits
  20. As Gary mentions, there has been a 17 Squadron bird carrying 6 AMRAAMs & 2 ASRAAMs, I managed to get this blurry shot of it on the ramp at Coningsby, but alas the 4-ship mission was scrubbed after an hour of linies scrambling all over one of the planes, so I never got a decent shot of it
