Just to add to the Japan Typhoon/Raptor discussion, the Japanese aren't looking for an F-15 replacement, they're looking to replace their rather old and decrepit F-4s. They currently have 2 squadrons of F-4EJs, and one of RF-4Es, which will be replaced by 3 squadrons of new planes, with the recon role being taken by 1 squadron of re-roled F-15s carrying pods.
The decision on the replacement was meant to be last year, but it was postponed to this year - ostensibly to fund more F-15s being upgraded to F-15J Kai, but was seen by many as actually being "lets wait and see who wins the next US election and see if he'll sell us Raptors". Obviously, that isn't going to happen now.
As far as the Typhoon goes, the Japanese defense minister even went as far last year as saying that if the US won't sell them F-22s then they'll buy Typhoons instead, and said something about wanting a Fighter and not wanting a 4th Gen aircraft (seen as a slight against the Superbug). There's no question that they will be allowed to license build them in Japan either (another pre-requisite). There has also been talk in the Japanese media about how much more co-operative the Europeans have been than the Americans - rightly or wrongly, Japan blames America for the F-2 being so horrendously over budget and not very capable to boot. Throw in the F-35 software codes fiasco with Britain and the JSDF aren't in such a rush anymore to just buy American no-questions-asked.
Finally, the current projected F-15J replacement is little more than a concept aircraft at the minute, called ADT-X. Knowing the way indiginous Japanese defense projects normally go, I'll believe it when I see it.
