  1. No reason why it would be any different from all other Lynx, as far as I remember there was only one tint of overhead transparency, I was on endurance flight and don't remember any difference between airframes.
  2. Many thanks again, was lucky a couple of yrs ago to have a nose around the Dutch b25 when it arrived at VL for the air day.
  3. Something just flew over weymouth in an easterly direction, thru the murk it looked like twin engine and twin tail but sounded nice and meaty tho, think it was historic but does anyone know, nothing on FR 24
  4. Yes have worked Lynx for almost my whole navy career and now am civilian contractor on them, great cabs but really showing their age now.
  5. Driveshaft is dark grey, possibly dark admiralty grey, fuselage structure area between exhausts can be either yellow or green internal ,firewall is titanium.
  6. I do not wish negate what WAFU said but I've never seen a mk3 with only LH pedals fitted, it's either single or full dual controls fitted, there is no way to fit LH pedals and then lock them off as they fit straight into the yaw pedal box Assy. I say this as a Lynx mech sup of many years.
  7. BERP blades are correct for mk 7 but it depends when, I know navy Lynx were fitted with CMRB(BERP) in about 1995/6 so I imagine 7's were approx then as well, the exhaust shrouds would only have been on operations due to the maintenance penalty they impose on the airframe and yes the Royal Marines did use 7's on 847 sqdn up till replacements with 9a from the army, I suppose it all depends on what airframe yr doing.
  8. I cannot add anything to this thread about modelling, however as a Lynx flt we did have some fun with PAX, the CPO ops M ( modern gunner type) was always giving us on the FLT lots of grief as WAFUs, so the FLT CDR ( little bearded scot called oddly enough jock G who ex- faawafu may know) decided to have a little fun with him. While carrying out jollies for the ships company it was arranged that he was the last to go up and had a talking headset as well, when at a decent height the OBS pressed the Warning alarms test button while the pilot dumped the collective while they both let out lots of ' oh no's and ' sh** ', apparently he screamed all the way down till they pulled up and bimbled back to mum. The look on his face when he got out was absolutely priceless, he was as quite nice to us for the rest of the deployment.
  9. Mk7 can be folded as easily as any navy Lynx, the Main rotor head is exactly the same, the army don't need to fold rotors unless they are embarked onboard ship which they didn't usually do, however 847 NAS did quite a lot as they were a royal marine unit. Oh and it takes about 5 mins for a navy crew to spread/ fold a Lynx whereas an army crew would be much longer as they very rarely get the chance.
  10. Think it was a mustang heading south west over weymouth at 14:00 today, not clear cos of overcast but surely merlin powered .
  11. Have been using flight radar to id the ac I see from Weymouth, but this evening I have seen aircraft that when checked on F R are over Taunton or Salisbury which is a long way away to actually be able to see the airfame rather than just the contrail, is this some sort of atmospheric refraction due to the setting sun or is F R not as exact in its placement as I thought, was a lovely sunset by the way.
  12. Ok fair one I didn't get that, depends how much gold he had in his clothes I suppose.
  13. Yes, it was said he had gold bars in his shirt( tho whether they meant his flight suit/ overalls I don't know ) that were then lost in the water.
