Another fine product on the way from Alan. I'll be keeping an eye on this one 😀 1/32 is my preferred scale for this 👍 Cheers, Tom -

I have the same kit and resin as you and I'm torn as to whether I go realistic, or make an assumption that the ground crew need access to various areas within the main undercarriage bay and therefore require access to it. Based on how well your build is progressing I'd ditch reality, I might invoke artistic licence and show the doors open. Cheers, Tom

Thanks @Motty Never knew that.

Looking great Joe. Just one observation from me and that is that most of the time when the aircraft was on the ground, the large main undercarriage door was closed. Obviously, the problem with that is it hides all that lovely detail you've added. Cheers, Tom

I'm pleased to see this build progressing again. Looking forward to seeing how you solve the problem. Cheers, Tom

Hi SubOne, Thanks for your comments. It is 1/32. I used Tamiya Buff lightened with white for the canopy blast screen seal. The weird thing about the Kinetic kit is that it's moulded into the canopy clear part, whereas on the real aircraft the buff coloured seal is between the inside of the canopy glass and the blast screen. I'm looking forward to seeing your WIP. Apart from the intakes, it's a pleasant build and looks the part when finished. Cheers, Tom

F/A-18F Super Hornet - VFA-154 CAG 1000, USS Nimitz 2012
Tomjw replied to Alan P's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
No problem. I always enjoy seeing the outcomes of your builds. A couple of the guys at my local club have tackled the kit and shared their frustration at some of the dubious design decisions made. I still want to build the 'F' though 🙂 Cheers, Tom -

An awesome build of a very tricky and over engineered kit. Nicely done. Cheers, Tom. -

Hi Blimpyboy. It's 604. New glasses for you, I think 🤓😂 Sorry, in all seriousness, I can't make the stencil out either. Cheers, Tom

Gentlemen, thank you for your responses and guidance. English it is. Now to search for something that looks the part. Cheers, Tom

Hi All, This might be a really stupid question, but I'm planning on building a Sudanese Mig-29UB and would like to know if those aircraft have Russian language stencils? Please can anyone advise? Many thanks, Tom

That makes sense, thanks Motty

I have to agree with you regarding the darker greys. I'm not sure where in or around Australia the darker grey camo is supposed to work. Maybe in close proximity to a whale? That's why I went with the original camouflage scheme. Thanks Ray.

Ahh, that's after my time. I left BAe in 2006. All good advice and I hope others benefit. Thanks Motty, very much appreciated. Thanks Gatesey.
