Hello, I'm Al.

I'm a revitalised, reborn modeller. Perhaps, in fact, modeller is a bit rich - my enthusiasm far outweighs my skill, and this isn't false modesty!

I loved building classic Airfix kits when I were a lad (as it were) and aged 35, a chance trip to Old Warden led to the Shuttleworth Collection gift shop and a new-tool Mitsubushi Zero...I think you can all guess how the story goes from this point to having just invested in a decent Iwata airbrush and setting up a Hannants account...

Mainly focussing on WWII prop-driven single-seaters, but am planning on some more whizzy modern jets in the near future.

Outside of modelling I'm a photographer (looking to turn pro in the next 12 months) doing the freelance thing full-time, play the drums in 2 bands and have been twanging the guitar for the last 25 years with a modicum of success. I don't know whether that fits a typical profile of a modeller, but the more I see on this forum the more I realise there's not a fixed 'type'.

A note about the models I build - I'm not terribly skilled and simply don't have the chutzpah or time to work the wonders that some of you do. My models are there for me to find aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable to build, and yes, there will be a LOT wrong with them as far accuracy is concerned - that's not why I'm enjoying this hobby though!
