Hi Some more pictures from the D-day celebrations where i live in gosport and work in Portsmouth naval base. Shots were taken using my Canon 1100D With 18-55 mm Lens for the first time, moving up from using bridge camera to DSLR. This was all about getting out there and firing off a few shots to learn. Here are a few of my pics taken on southsea seafront, Portsmouth of the red arrows D-DAY 70th anniversary display. Taken with A canon 1100D, with 70-300mm Lens (No IS). This is my first week of using a DSLR after moving up from a bridge camera. The bright sunlight proved to be a test, i think i had my ISO too high and shutter speed to slow, as the Planes themselves aren't looking as vibrant as they should.... Any help/ tips would be welcomed. Ok so I have made a bit of an error, i am going to go through chrologically how i discovered the error, effectively it was when i couldn't turn back! My next stage was to get the main fuselage prepped and ready to put the cockpit rotor assy in place. Firstly i prepped the main fuselage areas and the intructions state Drilling is required, I currently have no model drills or drilling machines, so i used a large sewing needle under heat to push through the recesses in the fuselage, the holes actually came out quite well. Untitled by ZeroBravo, on Flickr After a bit more surface preparation i then glued the cockpit assy to the Stbd fuselage. Untitled by ZeroBravo, on Flickr Once Dry and set i then glued the port side of the fuselage in place Untitled by ZeroBravo, on Flickr It was at this point while admiring my work i noticed that the rotor assy looked completely different from that of the instruction. I started to investigate an it then hit me. Like a brick!!! The mechanical parts of the rotor assembly have been glued on top of the rotor when in fact they should be below it (believe it or not i am a mechanical engineer by trade!) WAH 64 build by ZeroBravo, on Flickr Initially i was devastated, to the point where i was willing to test the aerodynamics of the apache without engines and tailrotor! I then went through the phase of blaming the instructions, the glue, my house, my wife and daughter, all of whom played absolutely no part in my error..... And then i accepted it and began to plan how i am going to rectify my latest challenge.... So people, i need your help! My plan is to try and remove the rotor assy and make my best attempt to re glue them underneath to the correct position. Does anyone else have any ideas? Let me know guys! NOTE: No instructions, glues, houses, wives or daughter were harmed during the making of the apache!

Absolutely great work Dave! I am also in the process of building an afghan tribute, I am working on the apache. I have a lynx AH9 and Pave hawk in stock good to go. The BH kit is the old Italeri with the old jungle camo and sand camos in the manual. Any chance when you get to it you could put down the colours you use to get the PJ's scheme! (I also love inside combat rescue!) I am seriously considering pulling my apache thread as you are in a different dimension in comparison to me. Really good work mate

It is 1/48 scale Made by revell, Its very flashy, and a bit of time is required on preparing it removing flash. But it is all coming together quite nicely

So after nearly a year, i have finally continued to build the Apache. I have got the Pilots in the seats, and managed to tack there hands to the sticks. I have got the main rotor assy together and now starting on the fuselage preparation. Unfortunately, due to certain regulations we arent allowed to have Flares in britain, something to do with explosives on showgrounds (i think the latin for it rhymes with pollocks!) i dont really know how long this has been in force, as i have photos myself of the Dutch F-16 banging out some flares at RIAT. Im guessing it was around 2005/6 as the F-16 is in its old livery display......... That said, the Solo Turk display this year is amazing, shame he isnt at RIAT this year as he was awesome there two years ago Great photos James V

Really good job, I worked on lusty, changed two of her diesels. Just for info, the truck cranes are now green -
The kit itself is of ok quality, the sprues have an awful lot of flash, especially the smaller parts (pilots, joysticks etc) so the knife and file will be busy. Also the sprues are green and brown, I've found these a bit annoying, especially when painting, any tips would be awesome

Good stuff looks like I will have to dig the laptop out as I don't think I can upload pics from my iPhone /pad. Will get some pics on soon.
