  1. As of today 20th Jan 2024 [email protected] would be willing to do this if there was a sufficient set of CAD drawings suitable for a 3D printer set up.
  2. Excellent kit, please can you tell me whose paint you used and the mix (if one) for squirrel grey?
  3. Crisp, many thanks for the clarification. I had heard of Miracle and as there is a 'production' lead time/custom price for what ever you want I was also looking for a ready to go solution.
  4. Crisp, an excellent build. I am in the process of making a DH Hornet and need to find a source of supply for the lettering/number masks, FAA size for underwing and fuselage (36" height) in 1/48th Scale 36" height. I have not found/secured the right size of decal from Hannants as their XtraDecal set is OOP and thought masks would be the right way to go. Help and suggestions much appreciated
  5. OK, apologies for rehashing what others have already pointed out.
  6. IIRC the Wessex Mk 3 was capable of In Flight Refuelling from the deck of a suitably equipped ship. I am fairly certain that there is a photo of this happening circa the Falkland Island conflict. Anybody care to build on this?
  7. Re: RFA Diligence, she has had an extremely long service with the RFA, she was in use in the North Sea before 1982 - IIRC named Stenna xxxxx - so at more than 34 years of age and despite any refits she will be well and truly due for replacement. With the downturn in North Sea activity I also suspect that there are bigger better Oil Rig service vessels available on the 2nd hand market and that with the manpower shortage in the RN and RFA a replacement that requires less personnel or alternative manning solutions (contractors who would otherwise be working in the North Sea) will be welcome. Just a thought.
  8. A thoroughly engaging read. Ex-WAAFU, were you serving in HMS Fearless on the DTS W.Indies cruise '82 pre FI - and if so was it you who posted the story about the Wessex 5 that suffered BER corrosive damage having been left out on deck in the middle of that extremely big storm we all went through?
  9. I thought that we could conclude the factual arguments and move onto some more generic 'banter' re F 35 etc. Here is the extract form today's SDR. Note the long term plan is to buy 138 F 35s. The document also goes onto confirm 9 MPA and a life extension to 14 C130s. Typhoon and F35 Lightning aircraft, which will ensure that the Royal Air Force can continue to deal with evolving threats. We will establish an additional F35 Lightning squadron and two additional Typhoon squadrons. We will invest further in Typhoon’s capabilities, including ground attack and a new Active Electronically Scanned Array radar to ensure that we can continue to operate it until at least 2040. We will maintain our plan to buy 138 F35 Lightning aircraft over the life of the programme.
  10. Fundecals have just released a 1:32nd FAA set (http://www.fundekals.com/corsair_RN.html and then click on the download instructions link) and it clearly shows pictures taken in Oct/Nov 1944 with all sorts of configurations! So there is no right or wrong answer.
  11. Thanks for the tips ben_m and brewerjerry, The paint has leaked onto the external face of the canopy into the groove above the right hand side canopy frame. The paint is easy to remove but the challenge comes with buffing out the remaining stains and small scratches. The Tamiya moulding captures the 'bubble' nature of the canopy extremely well and it is not until you have an issue like this that you realise this. ebay is the next stop.
  12. Does anybody have a spare main canopy for the 1:32 Spitfire Mk IX from Tamiya? Reason for asking is that I did not seal the supplied mask properly and paint has leaked through into the area just above the canopy runner, so unless somebody can suggest how to clean this 'difficult to reach' area a new one is required. I am happy to pay (reasonable amount!) if some kind BM'er has one for sale. Alternatively does Tamiya's UK importer have a spares service?
  13. I'm building this right now and have no complaints about the tyres or seat belts. Save the money for something else!
