I'll have to take your word on that. Although you underestimate how much of a small child I turn into every time one flies over!

Pair of Apaches flying over Telford at 1605 on a SW heading. Will never get tired of hearing that sound.

Wouldn't expect any less from you, Spence. Top work mate. Daryl. -
V22 Osprey over Telford literally right now on a WNW heading. Never seen one before... excited is an understatement!

According to Sky News, it was in fact a WWII Hunter that crashed... not sure what to make of that. http://news.sky.com/story/1540055/plane-crashes-at-shoreham-airshow

Bad news, but initial reports that the pilot has survived are promising. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34027260 Here's to hoping nobody else was hurt. Daryl.

Absolutely stunning. I've been toying with the idea of forking out for a 1/48 Sea King for a while. Yours definitely makes me consider it more! The weathering is spot on. Fantastic finish to a build of a great subject. Daryl.

Had a Gnat ferrying overhead no more than 5 minutes ago in Telford. Was pretty bittersweet to be honest.

Not Lancs. but here in Telford we had a few Chinooks fly right over my house at about 0430 this morning. Either they were flying extremely low or there must've been a fair few because the racket was enough to wake me up from a very heavy sleep! Anybody know what it was all about? Daryl

If Airfix are going to continue with the precedent set of upscaling their new 1/72 kits (thinking of the Gnat, Defiant etc.) then I really hope they do the same with their new Junglie Sea King. Considering their only serious competition in that scale is the Hase/Revell pop, I'm sure they'd be onto a winner with that. One can dream... Daryl.

RAF Harrier GR.7 "Snow Falcon 2002" in 1/32nd
daryl_five_zero replied to Piero's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I'm glad we can always rely on you to build absolutely stunning Harriers... I think this may be the best Harrier build I've seen so far. The weathering is spot on, especially on the underside of the fuselage. Congrats on another cracking build! Daryl -
Hawker Hurricane Mk.I Hasegawa 1/48
daryl_five_zero replied to Arkady72's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Simply put, one of the nicest looking Hurricane builds I've seen. The weathering is heavy, but in no way over the top. Top build, I'm well impressed. That paint job is just outstanding. Daryl. -
North American T6D Texan. Monogram, 1/48.

Wow, love the paint scheme. She's a real looker. The combination of recessed panel lines and raised rivet detail really works in my opinion. Daryl. -
Airfix Lynx Hma8, 1/48 finished (more or less)

Stunning! -
That splinter camo looks so crisp; it's amazing! Really spot on. Not really my area of interest, but I could definitely see myself picking one up at some point after seeing yours. Daryl.

Wow! I'm glad to see the stroke hasn't had an impact on your modelling skills... she's a beaut! I'd be very happy to come up with a model that good. Daryl.

1/72 Israel Apache AH-64D - I Saraf
daryl_five_zero replied to Vitor Sousa's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
That new Academy kit looks like it's going to be the definitive AH-64D in 1/72... I've not seen one in person, but the shots look like it's going to be a corker. If you were willing to stretch to 1/48, the Hasegawa AH-64D is still without a doubt the best Apache kit I've ever built. Daryl. -
Red arrows Gnat (1/48), first red scheme
daryl_five_zero replied to jenko's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Love the hi-gloss finish you've achieved on this! Absolutely spot on. The more I see these 1/48 Gnats, the more I feel the need to add one to the stash. Daryl. -
RAF Special Schemes 2015 - which are you most excited about?
daryl_five_zero replied to AjD's topic in Aircraft Modern
Wow, that is every bit as awesome as I had hoped for. Now I really hope I get to see her on the air show circuit. Any idea what sqn. she's flying with? -
1/72 Israel Apache AH-64D - I Saraf
daryl_five_zero replied to Vitor Sousa's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Watching with interest! This is already shaping up to be a cracking build! Those engines and avionics bays look amazing, especially for 1/72. The HobbyBoss AH-64D is based on the prototype cab, which had the funny-shaped rear EFAB. Looks like the Armycast resin sorts that out beautifully. I just wish they would scale up their resin RTM322 for the Brit Apache to 1/48 :/ -
Evening, all. I haven't finished a model since last December, so this is my first build of the year - something small to get me going again until I can decide what I want to build! It is Revell's nice little 1/144 F-14A, in what I'm sure many of you will agree is the quintessential F-14 scheme. Not much to say about the kit. It goes together well, and it looks like a little Big 'Cat. The decals were a little on the thick side, mind you. She's suffering from ghost pilot syndrome too. In my defence, it's a little difficult to readily find little men in 1/144. There are some bits I am happy with. Some not so much. I'm still not sure about the smoke trail from the AIM-9 - although it is the first time trying something like this. I still need to learn how to photograph models, too. Comments & criticism welcomed as always, and I hope you like it! Daryl.
