  1. Wood finish... I love it! An amazing build and thanks for the tutorial. It's given me an Idea for a F-16...
  2. That's a great result! As a kid, I wanted to get this kit so many times but never did as it looked quite daunting to someone who had only built Airfix, Revell & Matchbox kits. Plus it was a fair chunk of pocket money back then I had Dragon's 1/144 A-6E arrive from eBay yesterday... I Might have to push it to the front of my build list now.
  3. Seconded! I have a soft spot for the Wessex as I'm a stone's throw from the old RAF Mount Batten and fondly remember them buzzing around Plymouth
  4. Nice work Seeing these together makes me want to do a whif markings swap
  5. A wonderful subject & a great looking model It could almost be a "Steampunk" vehicle. Steampunk Nazis... Ooooh... Whif idea!
  6. Great work and a fantastic finish. The "New" on the box had me giggling
  7. Stunning. Stunning. Stunning. Stunning. Stunning. Stunning... Do I need to say more? Fantastic work
  8. Lovely work on the floats. They must have taken an age to sand down!
  9. Cracking job on the canopy replacement! It's annoying that you've had to do it, I can't believe how bad the kit part was Looking forward to seeing this one completed.
  10. Seconded! I would love to see these finished, a unusual subject and a couple of really nice kits. That's some scary footwear on Frederick...
  11. Cheers After a few more hours of masking I've finished the main painting on the B & D. 3 tone tactical scheme in 1/144... One of the most fiddly things I've ever had to do! Due to the limitations of my tablet's camera, I have enhanced the contrast of this in Photoshop to better match what it really looks like. I've not done any post shading or filtering yet, the "mottled" effect is purely down to the pre-shading.
  12. Thanks guys After almost 3 hours applying 63 thin strips of masking tape, some blu tack and lots of Maskol... I've got the main colours on the A!
  13. And none of that green is visible now! I find it makes a great base colour and adds a little depth to black and various shades of green. I've still got a bit to do in the cockpit, the seat needs weathering and I've got to finish the IP and control column. As for the radiator, I've no idea if it's an accurate representation of colour but I had fun painting it, and that's what counts!
  14. Cheers! I've given the A a couple of coats of Tamiya XF-2 flat white on the undersides and upper control surfaces where needed. As I'm portraying it fresh out of the paint shop, this was followed by a couple of coats of Clear to seal it and prevent any grubby fingerprints from ruining it. I didn't bother with a photo as white on white primer doesn't really show up that well. The B & D were pre-shaded and I've tried out an interesting technique Andrew has used on his 1/72 build Link. Stupidly tricky in 1/144 but it will probably get easier with practice. The effect has worked quite well and should become more pronounced once I've given it a filter and Clear coat. Thanks Andrew I've sprayed the B and post-shaded it, the D has had it's underside colour only. My tablet's camera really struggled to get a decent photo of the B, it looks a lot better in the flesh Next step... Masking!
  15. Green... It's not staying like this though.
  16. 27, I keep a tally above my avatar. 6 GB entries on the go and 7 other builds at various stages. (Including a rather bizarre British/Russian post war jet fighter!)
  17. Cheers guys I think it's more to do with the angle, with the canopy on there's more than enough room for a HUD. As for the shroud, they have faired it evenly. As much as I'm tempted to modify it, (I will be adding rudimentary HUDs) any detail will be all but lost due to distortion once the canopy is in place. I've modified the refuelling probe. (I don't know what Revell were thinking!) Because I've only found one photo out of hundreds of a Matador carrying a gun pack, it's obvious that it's not commonly used so I've made a set of LIDs as replacements. Modified probe, original at the top.
