WNW Sopwith Pup RNAS, 3 (N) Sqn
Speedman replied to Doug Rogers's topic in World War One, 100th Anniversary Group Build
I've often wondered why people go on about WNW kits so much and why they go for daft prices on eBay. Being a 1/144 builder I've never really taken a good look at their kits, but from the sprue shots and your cockpit I can now see what all the fuss is about. Nice work so far- 21 replies

I sprayed it with Revell acrylic silver, then painted the wheel wells with their new fern green darkened with a little black. All was going well until the decals... Knowing this was an old issue I coated the decals in Liquid Decal Film, even this didn't prevent the decals cracking and breaking in a few places. I hate to think how bad it would have been without it! I've a lot of touching up to do Both wing decals suffered the same fate. Even the smallest of decals had problems. Not only did it break up but Minicraft got the shape wrong and it results in this... As I said, lots of touching up to do!

Master Box 1/72 Mk.1 Female - Completed
Speedman replied to Speedman's topic in World War One, 100th Anniversary Group Build
OK... I've painted the anti-grenade frame in "wood effect" and finished the camouflage. Tracks to do next and then I can get on with some serious weathering.- 63 replies

Hasegawa F9F-2 and Sword F2H-2 Banshee in 1/72
Speedman replied to -Neu-'s topic in Korean War Group Build
Two great builds! -
I wish I had space to display 1/48. (I'm restricted to 1/144 mainly) I'd love to get a few of these along with a F-16A to do the history of 75-0747. Started out as one the six FSD airframes in 1977, converted into the first XL in '81 (after an accident), converted to a two seater in '82, then NASA got it in 1991. It was retired in 1999 after 22 years of test flying and many configuration changes. As for XL markings, the USAF flew three different schemes on the two seater plus one for the single seater. Nasa gave it the tail code 848 but at one point it was 846, I know of three schemes it flew in as 848. So there's a few variations to start with that most people are unlikely to know about off hand, then if you whif it...

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter 7 weeks early, that must have been a bit of a shock! Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and she's home with you soon so she can start gurgling approval of your modelling efforts!

Beautiful work on those engines. I've always liked the Tigercat and this one looks great! -
Italeri 1/72 Scale C-119C Flying Boxcar **FINISHED**
Speedman replied to Mike N's topic in Korean War Group Build
Superb work! Is the Micro Mask easy to remove? I've always used Maskol but I bought a new bottle recently and it's now a pig to peel off, it really clings to the surface and any recesses. On my 1/144 stuff it's become fiddly to remove without the risk of breaking something -
Airfix 1/72 F-80C Shooting Star - Finished

Fantastic build! It just goes to show what can be done with older kits with a bit of thought. -

Airfix 1/72 F-51 Mustang SAAF - Completed
Speedman replied to Speedman's topic in Korean War Group Build
The decals are on, plus the pin wash and post shading is done, getting very close to the finish now During my research I discovered that 2 Sqn didn't start naming aircraft until February 1952, 14 months after receiving their first Mustangs. With this in mind, I've decided to give "My Boy" a battle weary finish. Decals and pin wash... Post shading... -

Airfix Harrier GR3 in 1/48th Scale.Finished.
Speedman replied to Alex Gordon's topic in Harrier Single Type Group Build II
Nicely done! With it's "in flight" pose and rocket pods, this really takes me back to my youth... F-4, Lightning, Buccaneer, Jag & Harrier. There's just something about the old green & grey camo that looks so good
