About Me
I'm an IPMS member from back in the 80's who fell away for some years, to give time to teaching canoeing to the grand kids. The young ones got me back to the hobby a little while ago, by insisting I build some Snap tites with them. And the thrill came back! I built stick and paper airplanes in grade school, went on to solid balsa carving, some control line powered flying models, and then , finally, plastic kits came along and I built my first F-4 Phantom in the early 70's. Dad was an American Army airplane engine mechanic in England in WWI who bought a Jenny after the war, taught himself to fly, and barnstormed around the Middle West in the 20's. older brother flew in the Navy in WWII, then did aerial crop dusting and taught me to fly. I was a Navy Doctor during the Vietnam war. I didn't fly in the Navy, but I developed a fondness for those Nifty 50's and '60's Navy jets, and they have been the focus of much of my modeling. I think I can learn a lot from these modeling websites!
