Keeping my hand in - Lightning F6
Beard replied to Enzo the Magnificent's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
That looks really nice and makes me want to make a Lightning in that scheme (not that it'll look as good as yours). -
1/72 - Douglas AD-5N/Q/W Skyraider by A&A Models - AD-5W & Q released
Beard replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
Here's build, with some views on the kit: Also, a review of the Skale Wings kit (which, I believe, the A&A kits is): https://tailspintopics.blogspot.com/2016/09/skale-wings-172-douglas-ad-5w-skyraider.html?m=1- 28 replies

Whispering Grass, No, Beaufighter TF 10
Beard replied to Spookytooth's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I can't quite see, because I'm using on phone, but it looks like the varnish has gone cloudy. If it has, a coat of gloss might sort it out. -
I think I've got some spare MkII ASR stickers in the stash. I'll have a look and let you know.

Personally (and this may say more about me than I would care to admit), I would've started with the Spitfire I before doing the Griffon ones but it depends on whether you think you ought to buy more Spitfires. I'd buy more Spitfires, they might sell out.

The Tamiya Sky looks pretty good from here. -
Blimey, that sounds very hi-tech.

Just worked my way through this thread and, blimey, there's been some ups and downs but the end result looks rather splendid. Regarding the clear view panel on the canopy. AZ used to include it as a decal in their Spitfires. I'm certain I have one or two in the decal stash so I'll have a look and let you know; if you want one, I can pop it in the post (at the risk of delaying you finishing the model of course).

I think you have ever right to be pleased... it looks rather splendid. -

I think I'm going to use canopy masking as an excuse not to buy one of these. (Says the bloke who's about to mask three 1/72 Hurricane canopies and has 11 more to do.) -
A palate cleanser - KP 1/72 Letov S328 - done!
Beard replied to AdrianMF's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
That reminds me, I must get a new one; mine is covered in paint, and spilt thinners and glue. Lovely work on the Letov. -
Whispering Grass, No, Beaufighter TF 10
Beard replied to Spookytooth's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I've made three of them: a torpedo carrying X, a 21, and a conversion to a Mk1. Still have two or three and an AlleyCat Mk1 conversion kit in the stash. -

Watching this has made me think about digging a Beaufighter out of the stash. -
FAA builds, 32nd Hawker Nimrod ,Seafire now finished

That's not what I wanted to hear.😄 -

I'm assuming that the Beaufighter has Merlin engines and the 'angled' tailplanes. If so, I'll be following because I had my eyes on the Alley Cat conversion but never got round to buying one. -

The ASV radome really didn't do anything to improve the Beaufighter's looks. -
I've just spent a pleasant few minutes reading this thread from the start. As always, your ingenuity is inspiring and the end result rather splendid.

I've been humming and hawing about buying this kit so I'll save myself some money and follow your build.

A Brace of Stripey Hawkers! *Hurricane Finished*
Beard replied to Dunny's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I think the Hurricanes were used by the Air Dispatch Letter Service to take dispatches, etc. between Normandy and London. -

I've got a load of Hurricane tanks in the stash. PM me, I'd you want some. -
I'd like to claim credit for this because, a few years ago, I asked Special Hobby if they were planning on re-releasing the Spitfire XII.* * They said they weren't.

What would you call some-one who mixed up the Tan and Olive Drab bits on an F-105D?
