Hi, i looking for kit of ship which was under command of H.R.H. Prince Philip in WW 2. I think he was a captain on Destroyer, no ?
-
It is Tamiya - one box with main version - and finish ! When You need a more version & subversion, you must wait few years to Eduard offer. Tamiya have their style and i don't think he release a surprise. But this looks and shake and bake build - few parts with excellent quality of mould...and only problem was a german camo with dots. Thumbs up !
-
Why arrogant ? Old kits are old kits. And when it is a vintage kit, it' s little a example of arrogance still re-released new kit. Eduard is more small company as Airfix and is younger - after two decades make a Tempest in quarter scale a five years back make limited re-release and today he make complet new tool Tempest with state of art surface details. Or Tamiya new tool BoB Spitfire. They have nice & shake n' bake Mk.I but make complet new tool what is much more shake n' bake with many clever (landings gear)construction solution. Tamiya and Eduard leads the way, and Airfix desperate need money and re-release realy very old kits from deep of Cold war era. Especialy when new tool Black Widow can be a realy bestseller. Yup, make it a HobbyBoss, but Airfix have best name... New MiG-23, Vulcan, Hs-123... When airfix was reborn, and make new, cheap and relative accurate kits for few bucks, and i bought all new kits... - many 2x, Mustang 7x... Old kit i never bought... I think - when you need a money, you can sold a new, high quality kits...not real museal tools

I know a Airfix have a huge cultural impact in UK. I'am Britophile. But re-release of ancient kits i hate. This is big problem and Airfix isn't one who make this... When a have an "attack of nostalgy" i don' t bought the same kit when I build as Kid, but the same type with the same camo... But many people ( a laic Public)bought kits from the "traditional company" - and sometimes the SAME kit. Yup, a two decades old kits (Tamiya, Revell, Accurate)etc. this isn' t problem. But 40-60 years moulds ? Yup, sometimes it is a only choice (WW2 allied Heavy bombers,) but when You can leads childern to scale modeling, this is a bad choice... Nostalgia is good, but not in scale modeling...

HK & WnW released 1/32 Lancaster for hundred €£$. It is a not only large or huge piece of kit, it is a gigantic kit, with wingspan overall 1m. The same example Handley Page O/400 bomber is. When we have now a 1/32 Heavy bombers, why in "royal size" must bought a 30-40 years, maybe 50 years old kits ? Su-34 "Fullback" isn' t a small aircraft and now was released a two companies (kittyhawk/hobbyboss), the same reason is US C-HET truck n' trailer (meng/hobbyboss), Yak 130 etc... H-B released a 1/32 B-24 (unfortunatelly with fatal wing root flaw)... IMHO - Airfix didn' t release a many peoples awaited 1/32 Hellcat, he must make it in car scale... i have both Tiffys in stash, i don' know why i build it. Hellcat is my favorite naval fighter, i probably bought it, but is is a huge, atypic scale (for aircraft). And Airfix make it. But most important and iconic british and US bomber in quarter scale weren't released... in 1/32 isn' t problem and in compact scale is ? I don' t understand why is 1/48 WW2 Heavies ignored... a twenty years ago go rumor a Tamiya may released a new 1/48 Boeing. We have 2019 and new tool 1/48 B-17 still never released. We have a expensive B-17 from Hk, ugly B-24 from H-B (this is a really shame, make this parody on most numerous heavy bomber,) and too expensive and gigantic Lanc. But quarter scale not... Many people bought 1/32 "Viermotorige" and 1/48 not ? Strange decision...

Hurricane Mk.IIC is important version. Yes, make it Hawa & Italeri, but Hawa is no longer available and Fix BoB Hurri is much better as Italeri offer. But - when it don' t make Fix make it cannon Hurri (or Hurribomber and other variant) our little Ed.... In future... Long nose Blenheim is one of important bomber of first phase of WW2. And in small scale Airfix long nosed Blenheim have... And yes, i wait for quarter scale "Rider on the Sky" - aka Wellington. Their 1/72 is very nice. Ancient (in Czech language we say "old murder")P-61 is too niiice. Big ugly "Spider" in new tool be a most better choice... And He-219... Victor exist before releasing of new Fix too (from Matcbox). Airfix Vulcan is 40 years old kit... and new be better... Re-box of Academy AFV.... yes, in UK is Airfix a Toyshop suppler, but from adults modeler - who can bought a Academy AfV- then have it. Nothing interess. But i understand - this is for Kids...and Toyshops... Abrams, Hetzer, Škoda Lt-35, T-34 family and Panzer IV are excellent kits. And now prepare Academy Late production "Garfield"- i curious ! Tiger I, Königstiger and M-10 are better choice from another companies... (Tiger I from DML, maybe now HobbyBoss, King from Meng and Takom and Wolverine from Tamiya...) AIRFIX is British company - so curious i waiting from him a BRITISH types... 1/48 Lancaster & Halifax & Boeing & Liberator. And Superfortress/Washington/Bull ! 1/72&1/48. 1/48 new tool Lanc (minimal) must be a Gold Mine ! In 1/72 we have fron last Decade three new tool kits - expect Airfix, in 1/32 - TWO (Uggh)and in 1/48 venerable Tamiya only...
-
Total disappointement... Still: No Hurricane Mk.IIC 1/48, still no long nose Blenheim, still absence of New tool Vulcan. MiG-17 - niice, but only 1 variant Quarter scale Tiger Moth - very good - but that is really all ?! I hope in another quarter scale RAF bomber...and nothing ! Hornby don't need a £ ? I probably buy a one Tiger Moth and car scale Hellcat, maybe Griffon powered Spit...
-
Hmm. I wait a 20years to new tool 1/48 U-2... and now new quarterscale was bad

Italeri "new" (reissue, repop, rebox etc.) in 2018 - Catalog 2018 online
AlCZ replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
And Big Scale Tonka Gr.4 still not released... is canceled ? Who know -
Big scale Tamiya's have riveting. I probably bought Tamiya's n.t. Spit too, looks good(but yes i prefer a rivets, but this is my problem)buying an AM decals for Czech Airman's... I must wait for sale... For me is Mk.I relative boring subject, green-brown camo, only one user (when you ignored one - and last delivered Mk.I to France on begin of French campaign). But few parts on Mk.I suggest a Mk.V is next... Unfortunatelly we know our Tamiya... Released a one box from type/version - and this is all... No Mk.Vc (probably) etc... I 20 years waiting for twin seated Me-262 and Falcon/Viper/Sufa... or tank Mk.IV without electric engine.... Bf-109Ghaven't early/late style gun breech, haven' t early/late fin/rudder... and Erla/Galland haube... But in big scale kit's are parts for all config of Mustang or Mk.IX... i don' t understand why this difference ignored in quarter scale ? As early cockpit cover (flat top), twin blade prop etc... another early Merlin powered Spit (without Cannons armanent) Tam. probably never release, so why ignored this details on their quarter scale new tool kits ?
-
Standard (or classic) Tamiya kit are simple; with very quality engineering and relative cheap. Only "pain" are typics japanese fat decals. But Mustangs, Mossies, Uhu, Skyraiders, Corsairs,Wildcat or Spitfires are still good choice for "pocket money" and "shake n' bak" build. I was happy when i bought after five years a F-117 from Tamiya. It is a 20 years old kit, but best Nighthawk around... and i like a typic Tamiya "parfum"... So... i very dissapointed a Tamiya probably resigned for it' s gorgeous 1/32 scale kits...
-
Ed's Tempest isn't in shops now... and i don't think he have wrong spinners and wheels. I saw first photos of build kit on their FB and looks damm good ! Tamiya have stabile prices - but old tool spit cost in CZ around 15£ and new tool is around 30£. Airfix Spit cost 20£. And have useable decals from Cartograph; weapons and part from pre-war config. Ed's PP Spit was for 25£. Tamiya's new tool Spit is now most expensive Spit on market in 1/48. (For example - Tamiya's 1/48 Mossie cost 24£...). And i don't understand why. It' s 2x expensive as old tool Spit. Gustav have changeable open engine/closed hood instalation, but Mk.I haven't Merlin... When was new tool price the same as old tool i don't say nothing. Hmm. I wait for Sale and bought new "Blennu" from "Fix". Simple - New Mk.I from T. is priced too high for "another quarter scale Spit".
-
No riveting, is bare as stripter a.s.... By Tamiya are salats.... Look as brand new Tempest kit why may look new kit surface in 2018. Czechs can make ultra realistic look and best model kits company on the world not. Ed's Tempest have over surface rivets & under surface rivets. I don' t understand why Tamiya released this overpriced kit with obsolete surface... I wait a years for 1/32 early Spit from Tamiya ant Tam. released booring 1/48:kit...

Airfix announcement at Telford 2018, F6F-5 Hellcat 1/24 scale
AlCZ replied to Robert's topic in The Rumourmonger
I read a Typhoon saves Airfix two years back and was a BIG success. Despite their unusual and Airfix (and very few kits released a decade ago) car scale. Why i bought a Tiffy (BOTH !) in this gigantic scale ? Because was relative cheap, with many interest details as stressed surface and negative/positive riveting.... and have all - engine, guns, rockets and bombs.... and any company never released Tiffy in small scale in current standard of industry... (Revell was too old). Now, many people waits for Hellcat in 1/32, especialy from Tamiya - but Tamiya never released a Hellcat... And price of car scale Hellcat from Airfix is similar to price of 1/32 Corsair from Tamiya but kit is more huge... Now i probably bought an Airfix Hellcat, because i can´t wait for "Maybe" from Tamiya... Tamiya make an quarter scale "109" for crazy price and now make an Spitfire Mk. I (still without rivets etc...)... Many people looks for new tool big scale Hellcat, and when you can´t have it in 1/32, why don´t now buy a 1/24 - for the same price ? Hellcat is good choice, is widely popular, maybe have a boring dark blue scheme, but Spitfire Mk. I have boring scheme too.... Griffon powered Spitfire in 1/24 is economical suiccide - this version are world wide un-popular, haven´t a elegance and beautiful lines of Merlin Powered Spit... Hellcat is Ace maker, is BIG, have foldeable wing and looks gorgeous. For Mk. IX spit you have two kit´s in 1/32 Tamiya and more cheapest Revell... When Airfix say he released an Mustang - my reaction was - ANOTHER Stang ? WHY ?! But when i saw a Grumman i call - Hurrray a Hellcat - maybe a little bigger but shut up and here is my Money Airfix... The same case is Vulcan... Vulcan is interesing type for Britons only... Few aircraft, one combat mission in real conflict.... And it is a four engine jet bomber and modelers companies ignored a four engine jet bomber... Victor looks very unusual, relative futuristic and their Bomber/Blue Steel missile never existed before released of Airfix kit... i like this type (Victor) when i it first time saw in one aircraft encyclopedy.... with BIG Missile under belly.... And Airfix need a money, many money.... I hope in Vulcan...it is a logic he released a Vulcan...sometime... But when you desperate need a money, you must released popular subject for many modelers... and not for UK Market only...Hellcat is real a brillant choice !- 918 replies

Airfix announcement at Telford 2018, F6F-5 Hellcat 1/24 scale
AlCZ replied to Robert's topic in The Rumourmonger
Niiice ! A Grumman' s Cat from Hell !!! Unfortunately a car scale; but yes a Airfix don't make a 1/32. I have both Tiffys and it' s a nice kit. When Airfix can released a 1/48 or 1/72 when we have a nice kit from Eduard i hope in stressed skin surface (as you seen in 1/24)and folding wing option. When he missed it these details, he can't released Hellcat...Eduard is still good (and accurate with special parts for both version. But for car scale Hellcat - very well Airfix ! Perhaps - an Avanger or Wildcat as next kit ? Especialy Avanger was nice in this big scale and surface details...- 918 replies

I hope in Fokker Dr. I "Dreidecker". This type was most popular, most recoinsable and most famous airplane of best and legendary pilot - Red Baron ! Dreidecker is synonymum of WW1 air combat in Dog fights. Every know - within your Grandmother - Fokker' s triplane. This is a real symbol for WWI air combat and iconic fighter. In communistic era in former socialistic Czechoslovakia was sold a 1/50 Dreidecker from Směr with boxart from 1st person - cockpit of Camel and downed Red Baron with funeral black weil of smoke beyond his tail... Yes i hope in WnE

Airfix announcement at Telford 2018, F6F-5 Hellcat 1/24 scale
AlCZ replied to Robert's topic in The Rumourmonger
I play a F-19 in 286 wit b&w monitor a one year after fall of comunism...it is a nice and atmospheric game despite simple graphic. Today flight sims are really sims and not a "game only". In this game you can fly a photo-recon missions only and yes, too after Czechoslovakia...- 918 replies

Airfix announcement at Telford 2018, F6F-5 Hellcat 1/24 scale
AlCZ replied to Robert's topic in The Rumourmonger
I think not a Airfix released a 1/24 twin engined bomber as B-25. It is unusual scale and very expensive mould. So - and completed Mitchell in car scalec was was a gigantic piece of Plastic... After Typhoon i still hope in car scale Tempest (same engine and few parts from Tail.) Or - Me 262... it is a fighter; twin engined and relative compact...- 918 replies

Have completed WRONG wing profile; details as 1/72 kit...and Engine nacelles are too bad... i don't understand why HB don't make simply but Accurate kit... in real - engines are deep in nacelles; when you close it side Gunner posts you can't see details (many parts what arevin completed kit invisible)in interior - but complete wrong wing profile is unrepaible problem... and degraded whole kit... I was dissapointed; i hope in CC kit conversion in Big scale but parody on Liberator i can't buy...

Airfix announcement at Telford 2018, F6F-5 Hellcat 1/24 scale
AlCZ replied to Robert's topic in The Rumourmonger
I can 1/48 Lancaster or Boeing or Liberator please... simple "quarterscale Viermotirige"... all kits of heavies in this scale are vintage and in 1/32 are expensive and big ( i bought in future an WnW Lancaster standard Bomber only...)but quarter scale is ok... Lincoln atd are too british for Britons only... C-46 "commando" vere be better.- 918 replies
