  1. So I take it you have a main stash, and two standby stashettes? Interesting, I have one stashette in the spare bedroom that SWMBO thinks is the sum total of my hobby, the motherload is in the eaves. With patience its amazing what you can cram into a triangle. Norman looks like he's been on the pies, a bit of SIHRSC action will sort him out. Rag wing hurricane? Thoroughly enjoying the updates Box on Strickers
  2. In the words of the peasant that watches Brian escape from the spaceship that crashed into the tower in The Life Of... 'you lucky ba........' Last gig I went to I was playing in, the band was 'mature' Covid reeks its toll again. I did surprise the build earlier and managed a bit of IP action, together with bit and bobs from other 'on the goers'. Box on Strickers
  3. Now we're cooking on peat! I goggled the sea bird, and I reckon the front of Norman looks like a sawn off Gannet (the bird not the ..... you know!) Now I'm not very good with colours, but possibly a little bronze or copper to keep the metally feel? Box On Strickers
  4. See, Butty, I understand this, unlike what them CARD boffins are doing. Neverless the magic is on a par with the techno boys and girls. The Norman looks like a seabird I can't put a name to, have you tried givin it steriods for more bulgieness? Box On Strickers
  5. Looks very much like a boot mark of an armourer or rigger that has slid down the wing, leave it, adds character. Box On Strickers
  6. Nice info to know, straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. Thanks for sharing Box On Strickers
  7. Hello Johnny, Your engine greeblies are making me wonder if I should have gone retro and done some scratching myself. Nice job fella, I think that I need to make better descisions about the after market stuff as in this case the Dekno engine is mostly covered by the top cowling. On that note make sure that the fuselage and cowling mating surfaces are cleaned and square and the 'giant step for mankind' should be minimised. I intend to sneak up and surprise the build later, and with your permission will try and post some photos, which is another thing you have pushed me into doing 👍 Box On Strickers
  8. Another top tip, but for enamels only I think. Used on acrylic may give the impression of peeling or heavily abraided paint rather than high use wear. (I say may because I have not tried myself) Box On Strickers
  9. Should we start organising the bash fro the bi- centenial? Box On Strickers
  10. I think this is just a matter of degree, certainly for me, I seem to get more satifaction (dopamine) out of an overly complicated model, and feel cheated if the model designer did it for me. Bread on the table first, but so close! Box On Strickers
  11. A really interesting thread, and it goes to show how vast and varied the production run was of this type was. Box On Strickers
  12. Very! Always a worry when a member doesn't post for a while. Box On Strickers
  13. Hello Johnny, Well spotted! It is the Airfix Kit but with combimation of eduard etch and CMK resin plus a little of my own. Box On Strickers
  14. Hello Johnny, This may or may not work but here is a photo of the slightly 'butchered' Dekno Gypey Major and a few others that maybe of interest
  15. And exhibiting his father's noir humour. Pandering to us glacial builders is kind of you too Box On Strickers
  16. The question that must be asked now is, where does he go from here? Is the limiting factor the technology or the imagination ? Whilst scale modeling is a fairly niche pastime, it is a privelidge to be able to say 'I was there' when the top 1% of the top 1% pushed the envelope. Box On Strickers
  17. You know about Noakes? Then for my money you are a fruit of the Green and Pleasant and were transported to the Windy City by some cruel twist of fate! (please keep this post from Mrs P, I am old and cannot run as fast as I used). Box On Strickers
  18. That's a wrinkle I've not heard before, warm setting I assume? The boys may need help cocking the PIAT but in the words of all Blue Peter* presenters, 'Get an adult to help you' *(sorry if this makes little sense Edward but happy to explain ) Every little addition is a step towards the finish line, it is a mantra I have to believe in or I end up starting another kit. 19. transversa is just another way of looking at the problem, don't get angry get even. 🙂 Box on Strickers
  20. I have no idea how this has been contrived even though I have read the narrative, so to paraphrase and butcher an Arthur C Clarke quote 'any suffucuently advanced technology will seem like magic to a numptie'. I like the pictures though. When does the sticking start? 😆 Box On Strickers
  21. A rapier in the hand of a skilled user is a weapon, in the hand of an unskilled user is a stick

  22. They must be, they've given you a beard and glasses!!!!😆 Will you be spraying or brush painting them clear parts? Enjoy your free time fella, although you will probably filling it with sightseeing, swimming, hang-gliding, learning Urdu etc etc Box On Strickers
