  1. I went into the Bristol MZ on Tuesday, as I live out in the sticks a trip to a LMS must be incorporated into other journeys, it was my first time to the one in Cabots Circus and I was surprised how small their stock was considering they have a sizeable city to pull customers from. One of the staff told me they had built up a contacts and that they were going to start up on their own, so I passed on my e-mail address, hope they succeed. Strickers
  2. Hey Jo, I've just received a set of etched Vickers guns form Part a Polish company and they are really nice, are your turned guns bespoke or are they available commercially? Like the wood effect and the turn buckles Strickers
  3. well chaps, I've re-checked the plans and my now 3 part lower wing, (minus the 1.5mm) correspond more closely with both the plan and front views of the Andy Brett (not A Grainger) scale plans. Have yet to fit the wings so I can't say if the angle of dangle for the interplane struts will be vertical, as viewed head on. I agree with Phil that more fuss should have been made of this kit despite the possible issue with the wing, this is an important type overlooked by mainstream producers. Strickers
  4. Hi Phil, I have the Ted Grainger plans issued in an old copy of Wingspan, not sure how accurate they are but your welcome to a scanned copy if you need them. Nice cockpit details, keep up the good work Strickers
  5. Hi Phil, I'm in the process of building the RN/RAF version, but found that the bottom and top wings are different lengths, have resorted to removing 1.5mm from each lower wing at the root to match the upper plane. I've also underscored the engine covers where they meet the main fuse, IMO this gives a better impression of the air gap on the original. As I am sure you will understand I will be following your progress with avid interest. Strickers
  6. Oright Butt, Didn't realise that this was only your 2nd completion, top stuff old chap, really nice build thread and a quality finish. You've set a high pb for the 3rd!! Strickers
  7. Nicely battered tonka, what method did you use for the exhaust staining? Thanks for sharing Strickers
  8. Oright butt I'll probably bail on it and go for JE J, not confident enough to go freestyle yet! Just been looking through your posts and like you have the Italeri Hurricane on the shelf of doom. Got as far as the weathering the metal panels and I think I got concerned that it was too battered, so it's sulking in a corner at the moment. Just starting the AZ tiger moth, and contemplating a first bash at a WIP on it. Cheers Strickers
  9. Oright butt, Was the Spit an NMF and polished or was it painted silver? I thought I knew a fair bit about Spit markings, (this site is expanding my knowledge considerably) but I can't recall seeing a wartime silver one, any back story? Strickers
  10. Agree with the comments about the stripes, but the full scribe is what jumps out at me, must have taken an age and it's bang on cos no-one has mentioned it! Thanks for sharing Strickers
  11. Oright butt, Have done the dirty deed and got onto the big H for the Spit, and asked them to chuck in a fixie Glad and Phoon, happy days. I've told SWMBO that it's down to a digitally challenged Cornishman, the humph probably means she doesn't approve, never mind a quick fix of Downton Abbey and all will be well. Yours is looking very tasty. Strickers
  12. In the words of Jim Trott, NO, No, No No no no ...yes! I've been trying to limit the number going into the stash, but this one just leaps out and shouts 'you want me, and there's nothing you can do'! I'm sure if I keep practising I will be able to match your build skills. Looking forward to the finished model, but enjoying the journey. Thanks for sharing, Strickers
  13. I think there is a very important distinction between the accepted sense of aircraft modelling and engineering on a small scale. I leave the engineering aspects to the producers, Airfix, Tamiya, etc, and just build what they give me, (often badly) but this model is and its component parts are being fabricated, in the way that the original was. Not that any of the above changes my opinion that 1 this is, and will be a stunning miniature replica, 2 that it represents a type of skill and attention to detail worthy of a master craftsman, and 3 pure and unadulterated awe ! Thank you for sharing, and inspiring. Regards Strickers
  14. Obviously an opening bat for the first team in the painting department, (note to self more practice). Cracking build. Strickers
  15. Hi Tony, having gone the other way with a 1/72 Spit,so to speak (Mk XIV to PR XIX), I'm very tempted to have a bash myself. You make it look so effortless...as we say in our drawing office..'now box on'. Regards, Strickers
  16. Hi Dazz, My deepest sympathy on your loss, modelling is merely a diversion when compared to the loss of a relative. In my case it was all down to early diagnosis and a skilled and caring team at my local hospital, I just supplied the raw material, so to speak! Thanks for the comments Regards Strickers
  17. that looks so right, the weathering is so subtle, well done.
  18. I love the model, I have the same one in the 'to do' pile but I was going to finish it as Beurlings BR323, but I'm afraid I might anger the paint police, as I am slighty colour blind!
  19. I have just noticed that I'm talking to the computer screen in shock and awe, that build and finish is sublime, I can see no way of bettering it. If I could get just one of the small details you have produced here, anywhere near your standard, I'd be off to Britain's got Talent!!!
  20. A very clean and crisp build, well done Strckers
