  1. Absoulutely lovely. The rendition of the paintwork especially the yellow is excellent. Also love the weathering on the cowling. Cracking job!
  2. I love the paint work on this. Well done, I am truly jealous (Green eyed god)
  3. Thanks for the Linky troy. I am not sure if that has inspired or scared the B'Jeezus out of me! Im going to give it my best shot and see what I can produce. Regards ChuckB
  4. Selwyn, It has to be a 1/32. Did contemplate a repaint on my 1/24 Airfix Hurricane, however I like it too much to part with, mentioned to Father in Law he wanted the same scale. Troy I have posted in wants. Also I have all the gubbins on the way from Grey Matters and pulled the Revell out of the "Loft insulation" Its on the bench in the cave now, looking very old, rivety, raised, and not very sharp. Razor saw at the ready!
  5. Airfix has given a new lift to the industry and set the bench mark with exquisite kits such as the Tiffy, Defiant, Dornier and Hurricane. Frankly the nay sayers do my grid in (Forces expression) Airfix have innovated and set the bench mark against their Far East competitors and kudos to them. The Valiant was a major leap of faith along with the Vixen and Javelin. All beautiful kits in their own right. As for transparencies and issues, this is an issue yes, but when you offset against the stonking value that Airfix provide against other manufacturer's this is minimal for what you pay I believe. A few years ago everyone bemoaned raised panel lines and the trenches from Matchbox. Now we get newgen Airfix recessed lines, ok a little deep but surely a once over with the Halfords primer (My usual weapon of choice) a light rub down and they are reduced. Frankly this issue is done to death and reviewers need to step back. My Blenhiem looks great, and looking at the Beaufighter in the pile im more than happy. Even the P-40B is not as bad as some make out. Yes they are pronounced if you do them in black, so why not go a middle/dirty brown? I am a builder, converter and kit basher. I will use resin, metal and scratch techniques to achieve what I want. The next build will be testament to my efforts, Circa 1970 kit, with a ton of resin and etch. I am frankly worried as to the outcome as its for a club not for my own collection. I am resorting to this due to the lack of a decent kit in the scale I have been asked for. Pressure much, I think so! If only Airfix did 1/32 (Heineken moment) and did a Hurricane I know it would be a truly awesome kit. My 20p's worth Off now to butcher a Revell Hurricane tonight Chuck B
  6. I am in a flap build at the moment, my father in law wants me to follow up on the Spitfire build with a 1/32 Hawker Hurricane build for his RAFA club for Battle of Britain 75 anniversary. I thought I had got away with it and only had to do another Spitfire. This has now changed to a Hurricane, One of the members has asked if I can do an early one to match the Spitfire. No pressure Chuck, no pressure!! So I am now reduced to using my Revell Hurricane in the stash along with a ton of resin. I am desperately trying to source a PCM Hurricane preferably a rag wing first of all if not a metal wing. I have a metal wing in the stash but do not want to use my own. So Mr Manufacturer my request is simple, can someone please produce a 1/32 Hurricane or series of in this scale so that it fills a ready hole in the market. It surprises me that neither Eduard, Trumpeter or Hobby Boss have never attempted it. Or for that matter Revell as they have recently re done the Spitfire in this scale.
  7. I maybe able to help. I have the vintage Hasegawa/Revell re pop I will have a look in the box. Get back to you later.
  8. As ever Rabbit Leader exactly on point.
  9. Two words Tony, LOVE IT! Got one in the pile but I have a request for a Hurricane to do first for Father in Law. I really wanted to do the Beau first but best keep him happy. You have inspired me with mine to do something different with the decals now.
  10. I will try and take some more at the weekend. The next project is a monster and will test the skills. Mk1 1/32 Hawker Hurricane rag wing using Grey Matters conversion kit and the Revell 1/32 Hawker Hurricane kit from the 70's. Watch this space its going to be a long one. Did the Spitfire and now Father in law wants a Hurricane instead of Bushell's aircraft. Also requested in 1/32 and preferably an early one from the Battle of France. Im actually dreading the build, never done a big conversion before and the Revell kit I have in the stash is ancient to say the least. Its the re box from about 5 years ago but looking at the kit, lord help me!!! Just ordered all the resin then its out with the razor saw and scalpel. Montex Masks ordered from Hannants. Will start the build log later when all the parts arrive.
  11. Just used the new 30 on my 1/32 Spitfire MK1 build. There are plenty of pictures in the RFI thread. I also added a drop of 117 and a drop of anthracite to it on some of the panel shading to give different tones as I wanted to do an aircraft that looked like it was in constant use during the dry summer of 1940. more of a techniques exercise really Have a look at the thread. Any questions pm me, l learned a lot doing this build. I normally do 1/48 or 1/72.
  12. Love this, an amazing job from a vintage kit. Fantastic work
  13. I have the re pop Revell Victor in the stash, I may have to purchase this to go with it. Victor is on the to do list for next year. The Vulcan is built and in the Bomber Cabinet in the cave.
  14. As above another stunning build. I wish I could turn them out like this all the time. Luverly job
  15. In the words of the facebook fraternity LIKE! Been meaning to get one of these for ages. Very clean, and an aircraft that has always sparked my interest.
  16. Its nice to see such obscure aircraft captured in model form. Love the Fairey Hendon. I have a soft spot for interwar years aircraft. This one and the HP Heyford are my favourites. Well done and welcome
  17. Thanks all it means a lot to me as the aircraft is so iconic and I wanted to do it justice. Sitx have to say I have been reading your build threads and it was your work that inspired me to do this one. I have invested in another one plus the bits and bobs to do Bushells aircraft. Also in the Stash I have the Revell Seafire and the MK1/2 reboxing of the old Hasegawa kit. My wife was so impressed she has bought me the Hobby Boss Vb In the stash I also have the Hasegawa Kittyhawk, now the plan is to do Bushells aircraft, then Neville Dukes Kittyhawk and Spitfire Vb in 1/32. Watch this space in the next four weeks. Again thank you all for your kind words of encouragement.
  18. Love a bit of P-40 hence my Avtar. Great build of the aircraft and the paint finish is gleaming. Well done sir
  19. Love it a really clean build. That looks like the 1/48 as it appears to be the metal wing not the rag wing. got one of these in the stash, going to be a while. I am on a Euro Fighter that has to be finished for tomorrow night to take to a friends father's house. B
  20. Lovely finish on that Hurricane. I am a huge fan of the desert war and Defence of Malta aircraft. Just snagged an Airfix IIc and some desert decals. November build after the P40 fest I have coming up.
  21. Lovely finish on the underside and I also like the shade of brown on the upperside. Great build sir.
  22. Beautiful builds, I have always wanted to do the big Harrier, never got around to it. Stunning build sir!
  23. Thank you Steve, I need to re rig the aerial, my stretchy wire is over scale, found the right gauge in the drawer earlier, so careful surgery tomorrow and re rig with the right thckness. Also have now Buffed all the transparencies with Meguiars fine scratch remover and cotton buds much clearer and transparent. Over all after looking at the pictures Im happier. B
  24. Lovely finish to that camouflage. I felt like this with my latest build the Revell 1/32 MK II. I built mine as the Ia. Had various issues, mainly due to my crankiness and ineptitude. Finished it now and posted it in the RFI section. Made mistakes, learned a whole lot. On to the next build. Stick with it that will be one good looking Spitfire.
