  1. Sorry but the temptation has been too much.......... Sexist moment over with, in my defence I was reflecting upon the male view in the 1940's
  2. First ever bi plane, the Albatross must have been about 11 or 12 years old. I remember it was a sort of bright green colour plastic.
  3. 1/24 Sea Fury.......................... How awesome would that be? Hurricane, Typhoon and a Sea Fury side by side. And a barn to display them in. Two out of three here Hurricane built. Tiffy stared at started then stared at numerous times and fondled (wrong) and placed back in the current to do pile. I have etch and resin plans for it now.
  4. Dear Mrs Christmas (SWMBO) Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please. Can I have one? I have been fairly good this year and will do any menial chores and decorating you require in 2017 B. (She will see this), oh yes she will see this post!
  5. Dave, opinion on the possibility of doing the new kit and the old kit as a side by side build? This thread has really got me thinking about the Christmas time builds. Do them OOB and see what they turn out like, I could build the old one as I did with the old man and then using all my lack of accrued skill and enthusiasm to build the new one as I would today. Mungo what you reckon? No chopping about on the new kit just build it up side by side?
  6. You have re kindled the interest on doing this big time. I can do the un staggered windows. Should not take much to do. Just mark out the position, cut out the hole then blank and fill the windows. 30 odd years later I reckon I can just about re paint her dress to red. Thanks for the picture and the help. Christmas is a coming and this could happen.
  7. I too built "Bit o' Lace as a spotty 13 year old. Sprayed with dads help using a rattle can of Holts Silver car paint.Dad then went over it with a tinted smoke / grey clear laquer to my teenage eyes it looked amazing and the decals stuck down on it a treat. I actually think he put more effort in than I did. I have an original B17-G Bit o' Lace in the stash, very tempted to buy this and use the original decals, they still looked ok couple of months ago. Bit of a tribute to dad over/after Christmas i think
  8. Absolutely stunning build as ever. Your work is to be envied on cold war vessels. They are all as I remember them. I Used to walk past the Ton's in the basin in Portsmouth when we were on hand message routine on FLJ as a sprog. Obviously this was when we still had a Royal Navy of reasonable size and it comprised of multiple MCM Flotillas not just a couple. If Atlantic Models every did Redpole I would purchase at the drop of a hat, her and Glamorgan were my best drafts then the Leanders before I went out side, re joined and changed cap badges.
  9. One word sir, stunning. They are beautiful builds and need to be in the Royal Navy Museum in Portsmouth for all to enjoy. Hoofin builds.
  10. Absolutely lovely build of my favourite early war fighter. Great weathering on the underside. Also welocme back to the dark side of plastic sticking.
  11. Great finish to that Hurricane and lovely reserved weather and panel lines. My favourite finish for my favourite early war fighter. Hoofin build sir!
  12. Was trawling youtube for footage for my 1/24 Bandai Zero build for the group build on Flory and found this Insipration! Excuse the 1970's lift music.
  13. That Tribal will be amazing, last of the "real" ships. Two funnels (due to the COSAG system). Also open backed turrets that came from the scrapped C class. Shame of it was the 4.5's only had 50 degrees elevation so a bit pants during an ADEX. My oppo was on the Gurkha. I did work up with the ex Tartar in 86 when the Indonesians who purchased Zulu, Gurkha and Tartar did their mini BOST at Portland.
  14. Hi watchers, Moved forward today, all the final brass parts fitted, wings and tail planes on and now all primed, rubbed back primed and prepped for chipping. I have to upload the images with the aircraft in silver hopefully tomorrow. Quite a lot of progress today on this one and a Spitfire MK 1a that has sat on the bench for nearly a year in its primer coat. I have also got that prepped and painted today as well. A productive modelling day on my day off. Latest pictures, tomorrow morning its out with the Tamiya tape, steel ruler and masking fluid. Then time to bring out the compressor and the IWATA. Enjoy not so much 50 shades of grey more one shade of grey. Straightened the cannon, still in two minds to chop it off and use the Master Barrels I have for it. There was more sanding and filling after this. That is it for tonight. Good night fellow painters, gluers and stickers CB
  15. I have the Trumpy one in my stash itching to start it now after seeing your Tiffy, however the thing is that once the 109e is completed I am doing a 1/.24 Bandai Zero for a group build on another forum, after that the 1/32 HK Mossie. So many builds so little time. Maybe start before Christmas or early next year. I need to go and have a look at the kit, at least it is near the front of the most expesive loft insulation in the land. Regards Brendan
  16. My pants just exploded!! That is just awesome, the Tiffy has to be the Airfix kit of this decade.
  17. Hoofin build!! and just love the desert scheme. You really do need a Hurricane IIC to go with that. Rather jealous
  18. Just finished the radio compartment and zipped up the fuselage. Spent the last hour cutting the styrene sheet in fills for the cockpit sills Time for bed, think the brave pills have worn off. I will post up pictures tomorrow.
  19. Day two, let battle commence this afternoon. I am hoping to get the fuselage together this evening. Just been chastised about the state of the work bench in the utility room (half man cave half wife cave)
  20. Do not give up, I felt like that yesterday with the 109. Then you look at it all and think not so bad after all. Lovely job on the Dornier, that will be impressive when it is finished. Also respect to posting up on the WIP I always think just doing that is a mile stone in its self B
  21. Been a busy week for a week off, miles to grind out on the mountain bike, decorating and a decent amount of modelling. Work in progress so far, cockpit done, tons of dry fitting, sanding, fitting again, cutting and more sanding. The same with the radio compartment. The engine is not being displayed as I intend to have this with the covers on and weathered. The wings are all together and I managed to blank off the wheel wells and not get super glue everywhere. Radio compartment getting there Viewed from above Cockpit after much fettling to fit Prop after some filling, and shaping the blades to sharpen them up. I think after looking at these pictures I can go some more. First prime and now sand again and clear out the vanes of the filter. Blocked the wheel wells, fitted the grilles to the inside of the radiators and made new radiator flaps using the Eduard etch ones, really pleased with those. I am not displaying the engine, however out of courtesy gave it a coat of black and a quick weather. Would have been remiss not to. Well so far so good. I intend to get the radio compartment finished tomorrow then zip the body together. Then put on the wings and cowlings, let it dry undercoat and sand back and re prime. This definitely has been a challenge. Chuck B
