What Aviation Stories would you like to see on Film?
chuckb1 replied to JBOHMSS's topic in Aircraft WWII
Derek Robinsons "A good clean fight." Considering the number of P40's and 109's about plus a good dose of CGI I think it is totally dooable. So who wants to back it? Couldnt be any worse than RED TAILS. Hollywood Hoo Haa at its worst / best. The Tuskegee Airmen was way better. -

I am planning to start mine in April, that is truly stunning. I hope mine comes out half as good as that. -

Totally agree. -
Simply Stunning, my LMS had this and the Crew in the window on Saturday. I thought to myself "Hmm never do that justice!" Sir that is a work of art and a labour of love. Well done.

I have an MPM Mk3 in the stash. It was a present. Dimensions seem ok compared to my plans. My main issue is that the Geodesic pattern is a wee bit overstated on the wings. IMHO but Im no boffin on this. Internal detail is a good. The undercarriage looks ok but the wheels look skinny in section, maybe it just me Nice bit of resin included and the decals are on point. Apparently the transparencies are a bit of a mare to fit. I paid £25.00 at the big H in Hendon

Early Hurricane cockpit colours (as per Airfix instruction)
chuckb1 replied to Anders_Isaksson's topic in Aircraft WWII
Nice one on the Finnish aircraft post, I am sure that I have seen these images before. Very good. I did the framework on mine in Aluminium and then weathered it from there. -
Or "The Dawn Patrol" Cracking Black and White action.

John Gregson at his RAF best again. Great if you are doing Cold War stuff this year and need inspiration

This is one of my favourites, take out the American accent. Its all about T Tommy. Invaluable for all you Sunderland Builders. Also this for all you Bomber Command and US Eighth Air Force fanatics

Early Hurricane cockpit colours (as per Airfix instruction)

Hi I used these for my build and the build of my PCM Hurricane last year. Hope these help. I have done my PCM with considerable weathering as I wanted to capture it heavily used. When my confidence goes up a bit more will post up images of it. (I fear the rivet counters) The Hurricane seems to attract them images sourced for research purposes only no breach of copyright intended Brendan -

Love this build, I have a half finished one done by my Father in Law in the loft carefully packed away. Tempted to get it finished now. Marmite nose most definitely -
Im in the same boat, I have researched and read that aircraft were re painted at squadron or at an MU however if anyone can prove this or disprove I think we would both appreciate it. Have you tried this site? http://www.p40warhawk.com/Models/Builds/SimonOlsen/Tomahawk/Tomahawk.html B

Airfix new 1/72 Hurricane - best Hurri of epic fail ?
chuckb1 replied to AlCZ's topic in Aircraft WWII
"My dads Hurricane is bigger than your dads Hurricane" "My dads Hurricane is going to fight your dads Hurricane" "Bring it on, my dads Hurricane has 20mm Cannons" "MY DADS HURRICANE HAS 40mm CANNONS!" "Your dads Hurricane has the handling quality of a bus" And so on and so on! -
Airfix new 1/72 Hurricane - best Hurri of epic fail ?
chuckb1 replied to AlCZ's topic in Aircraft WWII
Ok whilst putting away Christmas decorations this afternoon I rummaged through my old copies of Scale Models from 1979, I found the BOB edition for the Hurricane, (Was a bumper Hurricane issue) also a copy of Wingspan from September 1990 covering the three main fighters from the Battle of Britain. The plans are printed to 1/72 Scale If any one wants a copy I can scan in and copy. I did draw on the Wingspan copy to mark out the camouflage demarcation lines for A and B patterns on one page apart from that intact. The copy of Wingspan is now loose leaf. If anyone requires a PDF copy of the whole thing I can do it when back at work next week Regards B -

PCM do a really nice Hawker Hurricane MK1. Got one in the stash up in the loft. Short run production kit I believe from what I have read. Mine was a present from my students at work. Lovely kit with resin and brass parts as standard. http://www.pacmodelscatalog.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PCM&Category_Code=pcm

Airfix 1/72 Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk 112 Sqn RAF
chuckb1 replied to Stew Dapple's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Absolutely brilliant. Im doing this one later this year. At the moment I am building the big brother 1/32 Trumpeter version with some new decals and brass. Will be starting my WIP thread soon. B -
Bought a complete set of the RLM colours, thinners, liquipoly and some weathering sludge stuff in Kingston Upon Thames WHS. All with 20% off. All the paints were cheaper than my LMS by 10p a tin and I did not get stared at by the grumpiest store owner in NATO. Glad they are back on a small scale. (No pun intended)

Airfix new 1/72 Hurricane - best Hurri of epic fail ?
chuckb1 replied to AlCZ's topic in Aircraft WWII
When its all put together does it look like a Hurricane, smell like a Hurricane and in the main measure up like a Hurricane? Er Yes! Mine looks good, just waiting for decals to arrive and it will have been a "Piece of Cake" to build. I will post up a picture when its finished, hopefully next weekend. Back to work Thursday Boo! Im with Rabbit leader and others, if Mr Bentley was good enough for me back in the 80's he still rules the roost for me today. My Eastern European friend as long as you are happy that is what matters. Its down to the builder. As I said what do you expect for under £8.00, bit of a bargain for me. Better than paying over a tenner for a Gucci Eastern European kit again Flame me now people! -
Airfix new 1/72 Hurricane - best Hurri of epic fail ?
chuckb1 replied to AlCZ's topic in Aircraft WWII
IMHO its a really good value kit. What do you expect for £7.99? Its produced by a manufacturer that has / is going through a huge transition in quality and detail Its not as if it is some resin, brass limited run kit that you had to sell a kidney or your first born child on ebay to purchase. 50p worth -
New Airfix Hurricane Mk.I OOB build
chuckb1 replied to Paul A H's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
That looks the Mutts nuts. Hope mine turns out that good. I have just aquired the decals I need for mine via ebay and the Airfix MK1 Bob Standford Tuck version same as the old one in my display case, built years ago. Piece of Cake here I come.
