  1. As a bonafide car nut of the first degree, my guilty pleasure is Wheeler Dealers. Reality out of the window. They would never turn a profit based on real world labour. Lets say Ed "The motorised bed" China does it as a labour of love They have done some iconic cars and erm some less desirable. The DB7 reboot was a prime example, that car was in the negative profit truth be told. I would have replaced the door rubbers and bitten the bullet. Would not have wanted to be the owner of the vehicle when discovering the bodgefix with the bits of hose pushed into the door seals. It makes good television and passes an hour every Monday for me. Now my real favourite is Fast and Loud Best quote from Richard Rawlings................ "BEER ASSISTANT". Plus Master wrench monkey Kaufmann really does know his stuff. Its American Chopper with out the screaming and shouting and a turkeys neck patriarch
  2. We have just been upgraded before Christmas. Got the folder thanks again for this. The BM community is truly inspiring. Shame the real world doesnt reflect it sometimes. Kind Regards B
  3. Mike has just bailed me out, I am up and gluing again! Yaay!
  4. LMAO! I think the pigeons are now off for the weekend and probably heading to the coast for a well earned rest. I will pm you my email address. Thanks Mike pdf format is great I will then print off, SWMBO has promised me the earth, I am holding her to it at present Regards Brendan
  5. Im resorting to cleaning up the crew figures and scratching the 20mm lockers and finishing the Oerlikon. That and the flag lockers will be about as much as I can do by the look of it
  6. It is 5610 Mike, if you could you would be a legend among modelers sir!
  7. Beefy, bad news my instructions for my MTB have been ditched by SWMBO, she is very sorry, partly my fault as I moved them from the workbench to the living room as I was reading up on info for the RU lockers for my 20mm Gutted and annoyed!
  8. HI Im searching frantically via the tinterweb for the instructions for my MTB. Mrs B has accidentally thrown them out with the paper recycling, I have been home about 2 hrs searching and they are gone!! Bin men have been and they are now on their way to a recycling plant. So please please please please does anyone have a set they can scan in or post to me, I will scan and post back also cover your postage, or even photocopy and send me. I am happy to pay via pay pal. Absolutely gutted. I can gestimate a bit this weekend but not too much. Oh well no point getting mad or anything. Is what it is. I will also post up this thread in Maritime Regards B
  9. I have to ask this, (Jack moment) in the above picture was the flight deck rolling within limits? Great picture! Brings back memories
  10. I managed to get a walk round with the dockkies on Tiger prior to her departure for Spain in Autumn 86. She was truly huge compared to even Glamorgan and Fife. I paid off Glamorgan to the Chilean navy, If I remember correctly they had expressed interest in Tiger but it went no further than that. All I do remember is that walking through her was an spooky experience. Reminded me of HMS Belfast in many ways as to the internal layout. Nice to see a model of these ships, Lovely work
  11. The weathering on that hatch looks so realistic. Excellent job.
  12. Yep you are right, way too long with both craft. I did consider putting it outboard of the MTB however too wide! I have put the dock together with the steps section in the middle.I am putting the gangway aft on the boat with the bow facing opposite way around to yours. I am goiing to have a Bofors on the jetty with a sandbagged position and the crew looking on at the prisoners getting in the back of the wagon. Found my MG Magnette did consider having that as the skippers car. Got the Tamiya paras and bikes so can build up the quay side clutter. Cant beat a pair of pussers treaders on the jetty with assorted crates and stores.
  13. Did a bit more spending out this weekend. Bought the Griffon brass upgrades for the twin Lewis mounts and the Holman projectors. Quick question I currently have 3 ft of dockside built. Now question is I also have in the stash the Italeri LCVP. I was going to build up separately however with such a long dock I was thinking of mooring it aft of the MTB (In for a penny and all that.)
  14. Im going to use sphagnum moss sprayed up in a suitable shade of green/brown. Some of the railway stuff is close but I have it growing on the green where I live. If you want brown, what works well is the dead stuff out of the lawn, Especially if its been killed off by lawn feed. Good rake and you get tons of the stuff Beefy are you doing high or low tide.
  15. That is ........... going to be incredible. Makes mine and beefy's look positively minuscule
  16. Dont tempt me that picture was taken on the kingsize scratcher in our spare room. If I unboxed every kit I would ...... A Be in deep do do! B Be under stoppage of cheese and to muster for two months. C I need a wide angle dangle for the Fujitsu ! D Eating out of the cat bowl downstairs Will post up build of the Vosper by the weekend. Just started scratch building the mounts for the Lewis guns, I had to put together a 1/35 figure to get the height right when extended also need to fabricate either a locking wheel or bar for the mountings. I am also going to attempt to make splinter mats out of Fimo Clay for the wheel house. then either use that to cast a set or make them individually. Bought some Resin cast ammo lockers, hmm not happy. Quality was a bit poor and slightly over scale Will be making two of my own with dog clips I think i really should not be so lazy! Never knew punching out plastic circles for the bases could be so satisfying using a brand new hole punch courtesy of work!
  17. And so it begins, No SWMBO no small person, time to amass all the kits, bits and bobs. Waiting for 3 more boxes to turn up, Italeri Allied weapons set, Work shop set and the Final Dragon figures set. Will post up first efforts on the MTB, For some reason its flying along. As it goes its all going rather swimmingly at present......... Im wating for something to go wrong!
  18. I will dig out some resources and post up. The Oerlikons fitted to Leanders, 21's and 42's were in many cases "Vintage". Pussers arrows with 1942 date stamped on the breach block. The twin ones fitted to Glamorgan were off MTB's not the Perkasa class either we are talking the Vosper WW2 MTB's Stamped 1944. They were retro fitted to the Glamourous Organ after the Falklands War. They were fitted on the Half Decks over the Port and Stbd waists May have some from my time on Minerva and Cleopatra, not so sure about pleasure being closed up for six hours off Portland in January during the Thursday War.. Icers springs to mind.
  19. Six throwing, timber shifting ******* Nothing worse than being 8 pieced
  20. Hi matey, Same here real world has got in the way of the build for the last two days, Perks of being an educational kid wrangler. All I have done this week is disciplinaries. My last kit arrived yesterday at work and has been smuggled into Chuck B towers. I need to get up in the loft and photograph all the boxes together. I have to say the Masterbox figures are very impressive in quality. The Gen2 Dragon figures are pretty good, the facial expressions are better I was tempted to get some Hornet Heads but reckon unnecessary now. Definitely can swap ideas, I start properly on Saturday, wife and daughter out so will commence the MTB then, I do need to visit MR Grumpy at my LMS for some tubing for the Lewis Gun binnacles and the Lewis gun magazine storage bins. Also need some sheet for the tops of the Oerlikon lockers due wanting fabricate the plate required to place the magazine on when you load it . One good thing is that I was a 20mm Oerlikon aimer on two drafts I had so my intention is to also fabricate all the cleaning kit tools, and a spare barrel in its box. One detail I want to add to the foredeck is as if the 20mm is being stripped and cleaned after the surface action and magazines being reloaded. I want to be able to smell LG280, brown grease and hear the call "20mm closed up cleared away, bore clear ammunition provided!" Regards Brendan
  21. Hi all, Tonight I am feeling brave, the final kits have arrived at work today to enable me to start the biggest build I have ever undertaken. The intention is to create a large diorama entitled "After the Raid". I have been purchasing all the kits required over the last 18 months. The aim is to create a harbour scene that features the return of a battle weary Vosper MTB back into port and disembarking a troop of Commando's and their prisoners after a raid on Hitler's "Atlantic Wall" prior to D Day. All fictitious, and inspired by reading all those Douglas Reeman novels, Commando comics with a liberal dose of Battle Action comic thrown in for good imaginative measure. So really this is a WIF more than a nautical WIP So after selling a kidney I have purchased the following Italeri 1/35 MTB Italeri PT conversion kit for the 20mm Oerlikon (To be tweaked to RN specification) by including the bag for the risings and the leather strop for the aimers harness italeri Commando jeep which will donate the Lewis Guns to be mounted on binacles 20mm Ammunition Storage lockers from on line model supplier Master Box Figure sets for conversion to Commando's and prisoners Miniart figure sets for conversion to ships company and Commando's Dragon figure set for Commando figure carrying sten Italeri Bedford lorry and Breda for the truck Tamiya 12hp Tilly for RN vehicle Italeri Dockyard jetty kits. All 3 ft of them Italeri and Tamiya for the clutter on the jetty via their weapons and diorama accessories sets. Hobby craft for the pins to make the dock yard railing stanchions (improvise adapt and overcome Shimano for the 1.1 mm gear wires to fabricate the spring. Hobby craft knitting and sewing department for the thread to make up the head and stern ropes Realistic Water accessories from Hobby Craft to help fabricate the Dockyard Oggin B and Q for their clear silicone bathroom and kitchen sealer Also a big thank you to Ian at friendship models for helping me source a collection of hairy ***** Matelots for the crew of the MTB. I was going to wait for Italeri to bring out their ships coy for the Vosper,However I am going to crack on with the build and I have a strong feeling that the Friendship figures will enable me to model the crew in various rigs. rather than everyone wearing a costal forces wolly pully and a Paddington duffle coat. From my research it appears that sea going rig for small ships has always been a mixyblob of clothing, Number 3's Wolly pullys Battle dress, duffle coats, oil skins.Anti flash, Balaclavas, Blue caps, itchy sea jerseys, overalls, sea boots and stockings, Shoes and early versions of steaming bats.Officers and SR's turned out slightly smarter, however with a slightly piratical appearance. Why this project? My dad was originally a destroyer rating, however after being sunk at Dunkirk on board HMS Grafton sent of on survivors leave then drafted to HMS Shikari, After Shikari suffered severe storm damage dad went shore side for a short while, however due to him being a regular service rating, experienced Leading hand and gun captain he was drafted to Coastal Forces to bolster the number of HO ratings. This is really a tribute to him, his dits later on in life, only related to me after I had joined up (apparently I was not worthy until then). So partly school boy comics and dads stories have inspired me. So please pull up a bollard and I will spin you a dit. Pictures to follow .............................
  22. Shame is that I am breaking off from aircraft builds for the rest of the year and moving on to Maritime and ,Military for a year long big build.
