  1. thanks everyone...i think in need at least one more(maybe two)......now if someone makes flat tailplanes!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. for factory fresh i use tamiya XF76... for weathered i use the older Tamiya colour....XF12 the humbrol 168 looks close
  3. my latest finished...the new airfix beaufighter TF-X,DK decals for A19-190,it has yahu instrument panel..and i though i'd try weathering this one,.a great kit to build, and a huge improvement on all the other 1/72 beau's ive built(there have bee a few) Yahu instrument panel...you cant see it in the finished model i played around with a fair bit of weathering on this model...faded paint work and wash's...can barely see it on top.....but underneath and with my most recent beau's very happy with this model..a great kit to build and the Yahu panel and DK decals were great to use. Paul
  4. the information coming to light with the building of the replica seems to point to the props rather than the engines,,,it seems they were of a type that didnt work well(the airfoil........scroll down for the info http://whirlwindfighter.blogspot.co.uk and Simon she has turned out great......as much as the kit is maligned, with a little work it looks great on the shelf. Paul
  5. i was REALLY hoping for the polished bare metal P40b at duxford though the pearl one will be nice....hopefully a desert one down track as well
  6. with the work of the Whirlwind fighter project,a whirlwind could well and truly be done, the drawings are being done now and metal has been cut on a new build whirlwind.....and i'm pretty sure they would be happy to work with a model manufacturer...as for the your pretty much right and i think you could add the beaufort to that list.
  7. aahh ok mine has barracuda wheels...should have said that before..but the sit of your's...and P7048 should look really nice
  8. thank's,the little fix's really transform this kit,it's still not perfect but it looks ok in my mind, tossing up what to do with my second one...another RAAF one or maybe a battle of Britain one. btw i do love the interior work you have done, looking forward to seeing her finished.
  9. Hi Simon dropping the floor was pretty easy,i assembled the cockpit as per the instructions but i didn't glue the floor in place and when o put it in the fuselage i glued the floor to the bottom of the fuselage there is a gap there but you cant see it when the fuselage is closed here she is.....85 sqn Perth the silver is Alclad duraluminiun..the decals are redroo "boring silver"
  10. i did one earlier this year (in a WHIF RAAF scheme),with simple mods like yours it comes up pretty well(it got a few comments as it was entered in model expo this year......other than moving the radiators back i also dropped the cockpit floor about 2mm..next one will have better canjnons and a gun sight.
  11. funnily enough the whirlwind was offered with merlins(xx if i recall)....petter even designed the cowls with the merlin in mind,it had two problems, being a twin it would have used twice the engines and more resources as a whole, and 2 Dowding wasnt a fan and wanted the RAF's resources (and in some ways correctly)used in other place's with the typhoon coming on the whirlwind was losing it's job....what is amazing as she served for 3 years of war unmodified for it's whole life.....not many other planes can say that,,and the pilots loved it,
  12. i wonder what the pearl harbour 75 gift set will have in it?....both kate's....a val a zero and P40B?
  13. a decent 1/72 MKviii spitfire? unlikely but i can dream an all new boomerang
  14. short term 1 P51-b/c..1/72 2 Val(either version).new tool...this is very old and bugger all detail....and with the new zero and Kate it seems obvious 1/72 3 CAC boomerang,,new tool....the old one is very old.. any scale 4 KI46-11...same as the Val....plus they are so pretty. 5 westland whirlwind fighter..the old one is showing her age in 1/72..the replica construction is underway and a 1/48 accurate one would really shove it up trumpy medium term 1 1/72 javelin 2 1/72 seavixen 3 a proper 1/48 DH hornet 4 1/24 whirlwind......the fighter of course 5 1/72 Lincoln long term 1 a return to airfix trains....00 static "duke of Gloucester" 2 a better TSR 2 any scale 3 1/48 beaufort(if they can get it right) 4 mk1 beaufighter(though looking at the sprues this might be short term) 5 1/48 MB5...i can hope
  15. a very nice job on it....there are problems with this kit,but most of the really glaring ones are easy to fix.
  16. i bought it from a local seller...not easy to come by though...there are a couple on ebay at the moment.
  17. my latest finished project. the Flashback 1/48 miles magister...in royal Egyptian Air force markings...a nice kit for a short run model, and really stands out on my shelf.
  18. Hi Martin yep caldwells plane is foliage green over light green. Paul
  19. Hi Martin here is the thread on the RAAF one http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234983607-clive-killer-caldwells-dh-hornet1947/ Paul
  20. i thought i put this up when i built it but it seems i hadnt...it's a frog hornet with aeromaster decals. the "black magic 2" is the skybirds 86 kit with aftermarket contra props.
  21. i'd love a decent one in any scale...i have done both a frog one and a Skybirds one in 1/72.......and had high hopes for the trumpy one....and then had the carpet pulled from under me....I WANT a decent one.
  22. but according to my lhs,it's 1/72...i wonder who's plastic
  23. now if i get another i 'll have to find this...i do like a nice desert scheme.
