  1. Looks very nice. Looking forward to seeing the camo' added. Andy.
  2. Truly superb piece of beauty. You've done the car justice so far The paint finish is great and the kit chrome work looks fantastic as well.. I've just bought some Tamiya chrome paint for the 'B.. have you ever tried the stuff before?.. it'll be my first time using any kind of chrome effect paint.. Andy.
  3. Thanks for the useful advice and the link Roy. I'll look into it. On another note I've recently been putting my hand-me-down 1940s metal-working lathe back together, so I might turn a hollow exhaust for the 'B Was handed down to me from my father recently Going down to the Isle of wight for Easter Sunday and much of the following week so may not be posting on here for a bit. Anyway, if I don't catch ya before the time, because I'm packing; Happy Easter my friend. Andy.
  4. UPDATE 5: Just a very quick one.. the body has been sprayed, after priming with white: I think I'll try and gloss it up a bit with some varnish of some sort - any suggestions would be much appreciated More progress to come on this one over Easter.. Thanks, Andy.
  5. Great start.. really looking forward to more on this one soon Andy.
  6. Yes, I replaced the needle and that made no difference, but I seem to have fixed it anyway.. it turns out that my airbrush requires slightly thinner paint than I thought. I was using it as the consistency of milk but it turns out it needs to be closer to water to get going.. Thanks, Andy.
  7. Thanks for the advice. I've been experimenting with it and more thinners seems to do the trick. Maybe my airbrush prefers very thin paint. I was thinning it to the consistency of milk but maybe a bit thinner is needed. Thanks again, Andy.
  8. After reading your comment I cleaned it and seems to be working a bit better, maybe I'll just keep cleaning the rest of it now, Thanks.
  9. Hi, The problem does still occur but not as badly.
  10. Thanks. I'll look into the slot car wheels idea if I have time. I'm kinda taking this project as an early airbrushing attempt. On the subject of the S3 Elan £630 even in 1975 was still a bargain! I suppose you've got to account for all the money you spent on it though. I've just been out and bought a Revell E Type (1/24), partly inspired by your 1/8 scale build, and also because the MGB build is going relatively well. I seem to be getting into the vehicles now. The MGB is my first non-military vehicle I've built / am building. Surprising how satisfying a change in modelling subject is Andy.
  11. Cheers mate. Your encouragement is always appreciated Andy.
  12. Thanks for the feedback Paul. It may well be he paint that is the problem. I'll take your advice and try using the proper thinners instead of just water. If that doesn't work then I'll have to look further into the mechanism and see if it's that that's causing the problem. Cheers, Andy.
  13. Hi, I've only been using my Iwata airbrush, as seen in the pictures below, for about a month now. For the first week of occasional practicing, it was fine; working well. But then, recently, it has not be working well at all. It is a dual action airbrush. When I started using it it seemed to work perfectly for a minute or so, but then it only spurted out paint when the trigger is in a certain position, pulled about half-way back. Now, I kind of have to pump it back and fourth for the paint to come out in spurts. If I just hold it in the perfect position it stops letting the paint through after five seconds, which is why I've had to adopt the pumping action (which hurts my fingers after a while). I've inspected it carefully and I can't work out what the problem is. The obvious answer is that it isn't clean, but ever since I've been using it I've spent a long time after each session cleaning out the excess paint with water (because I use acrylics only), then I use the airbrush cleaner shown in a pic further down to clean it thoroughly.. Not sure how old the airbrush is because it was a hand-me-down from a relative who was urging me to move on from painting with the hairy stick. I think he said it was about 30 years old. That was five years ago and I've had it sitting in a box at the back of the garage, until a month ago. Could it be a problem with the dual-action mechanism? Maybe it's worn? When I first encountered the problem a few weeks back, I checked the tightness of the needle-gripper (if that's the correct terminology - not too familiar with airbrushing terms as I'm a newbie).. and it was as tight as when I'd tightened it when setting up, and not slipping. I bought a new needle (from the Iwata spares range) as the old needle was slightly bent on the tip... probably me being careless when cleaning it after a session... but a new needle didn't make any difference to the strange performance! Please help.. it's really frustrating and I just wanna paint with a working airbrush. The airbrush was top of the range for its time apparently. The previous owner replaced the standard needle cover with one of the 'fluid adjustment nut' incorporating ones (not sure if this is from the Iwata range). I was wondering whether that could be the problem? Thanks in advance for help and advice.. Andy.
