  1. Hi all and thanks for your comments. I remember the introduction of the RM when my father was working at LT. He showed me a picture of a prototype being tipped sideways until it started to topple. It reached 45 degrees. That really stuck in my mind. As far as tips for building this kit, I guess it is is like any other where there are hundreds of parts. Take care to get everything lined up perfectly. If you are a degree out early on it will magnify as you start fitting the final pieces. One thing that the instructions don't really cover (in my mind) is that the inner window edges of the side panels need to latch over the narrow inner side panels which are used to key the seats. That will make more sense when you see the pieces, Other than that it was quite straightforward. I am not an experienced model builder but was at ease with this. Expect to take longer than you think... Good luck. Colin

  3. It was my second. The first was the normal red version - but it got me hooked. Cheers Colin
  4. Wow That is brilliant - puts my efforts to shame. Thanks for the pictures which really show it off. Colin
  5. Great quality and detail - well done. What a super bus the Routemaster is - never to be equalled.
  6. Hi I completed my first ever kit after my wife bought me the Routemaster Revell kit for Christmas. I really enjoyed it and thought it would be a good idea to do a second one - but this time as a Greenline version. Here is my work First of all I had to cut out two holes to make way for the twin headlamps Then I searched everywhere for lenses and holders which would fit. Ended up with leather belt eyelets and 3mm lenses from an electrical supplier Then came the seating upholstery - I created the pattern in a graphics program and marked out the areas to cut out. The rear presented the next challenge. I cut the rear panel and took an impression of one of the small side windows. I then created resin copies from the mold and cut into Plasticard to make the opening door. This is pivoted with a pin at the top and bottom of the door. Using the same mold I created a single narrow door for the folding doors from which I was able to produce 4 identical doors, and used the same pin top and bottom principle on doors 1 and 4. To get them to fold I used elastic from a local store. It is black and looks like it is a brush that you would see at the bottom of a door. The front and sides are now complete I used the same graphics program to create the Destination Blinds - although the font is not accurate it is close. And I used it to create the logos which I printed on Decal paper All that I want to do now is to create two passenger handles to go either side of the folding doors. I have the one from the Kit but have not found a way of casting a mold from it. If I did it again I would do things in a different order to make the final alignment of doors etc easier, but that is it for now. This is a great forum from which I have gained the inspiration to tackle this. Thanks all.
