  1. The fin cap was painted in a matt black finish but would over time become weathered and take on a brownish hue. The wing di-electric panel was a neoprene type coating which appeared as a satin black finish.
  2. The NIS (Night Illumination System) pod didn't contain any cameras or flares but used high intensity electronic flash units, when night flying at Coningsby they would fire the pod as they flew over the runway on their return and it lit the whole Station up like daylight. On 41(F) all our NIS pods were finished in overall gloss white but on Shiny two at Laarbruch they were painted with the top half dark sea grey. The picture of 406 in 111 markings is more than likely being used by 41 as we often had to borrow recce capable jets from other Sqdns.
  3. Oman never had overwing pylons for their Jaguar fleet, the initial batch for Op Granby came from BAE store at Warton, we were told that they had been produced for an expected export order which never materialised.
  4. Excellent model, unfortunately you have put the 64 fin marking upside down on the right hand side.
  5. On that det we took our own JCB Fastrac for towing, even used it to move a German C160 Transall, would be nice to get a good model of one of those and the previously used Unimog.
  6. Gulf War /Op Granby Jags were GR1A's with added modifications which included the overwing pylons for aim 9l sidewinder missiles, also a single aerial behind the canopy as opposed to the previous twin aerial fit. The desert pink colour scheme was painted over the normal camo finish so next to no stencils could be seen, ejection seat and canopy release markings were about it.
  7. Just a couple of small items, inside faces of aux air doors and airbrakes should be red this really showed up on the real aircraft. The chosen serial number, XT898, was a twin sticker so wouldn't have carried the recce pod these were only carried by Phantoms with XV serials. I don't think intake blanks of the type shown were used at this time, we used large fabric covers which covered the whole intake including the ramp. I hope these details are of use, I served on 41 Sqdn which was also a Phantom recce unit.
  8. Nice model but gun ports should be metallic red, serial numbers white, missiles light aircraft grey, upper anti collision light not red but opaque and there should only be one aerial behind the cockpit.
  9. @jagnut Both 1000 pounders and BL755's could be carried in the same fashion, 1 on each outboard pylon, two in-line on tandem beams on inboard pylons and up to two in-line on the centre line pylon.
