  1. As I said over on the other site Tony, I'll be up for a couple of sets, including the rear fuselage when you've perfected it - mind you, I've not got a Javelin in the stash so I'll have to source one! Cheers! Stuart
  2. I'd agree with on the stencils to an extent, but whilst these ARE starter sets you can't get the F-18, F-16 or F-15 as anything else - so you have no option of buying a more expensive kit with a bigger sheet. A few more for the weapons etc. would be nice, but more options really should be included for £19! What I don't understand is why they've removed the option to make a F-16B - when the parts are in the kit?! But like you said, it is a starter set and I guess you get what you pay for (or not). One thing I hated in the Eurofighter starter set though was that they didn't even include the cockpit IP..? That was really cheap!
  3. Thank Gents! No it's a pretty poor show for a such a large kit - I can possibly understand only one option but not stencils or anything? I had to pinch the ones for the sidewinders from an old Harrier kit.
  4. Okay okay, I know it's a Viper... 😄 This is my attempt at Airfix's recently re-released F-16A kit - all be it as a starter set. Overall not a hideous kit, asides from the raised panel lines (which I removed) the only let down is the appallingly small decal sheet. As ever for me, brush painted with Hataka blue-line acrylics. Cheers!
  5. Hi All, I don't seem to recall ever posting a W.I.P. on BM, which is very remiss of me, so I thought I'd share my current build - Airfix's 1/48 Tornado GR.1 in the 'Desert Storm' Boxing. It's a kit that doesn't seem to have much of a good reputation. the fit is indeed awful, but so far I've enjoyed it - so much so that I've ordered another GR.1A, a GR.1B, a GR.4 and an F.3... It's been pretty much OOB, with the addition of a PE cockpit, and although I've kept the raised panel lines on this one I have rescribed the missing detail along the seams as I find it's the simplest way of replacing it. On the next build I plan to rescribe the whole lot (and add additional). So that's where I am thus far, I've recently added the guns to the nose and done a bit more filling - Most of this work I'll add, has been done in my car during my lunch breaks. Cheers!
  6. That was a great help - thank you. 😄 I'll have to see if I can find anything suitable and have a play.
  7. Thanks Gents - some really useful and interesting suggestions with some differing ideas. I did wonder about using 'Milliput' or Citadel 'Greenstuff'.
  8. Any thoughts on how to replicate the 'swing wing boots' (I'm sure they have a more technical name) on a 1/48 Tornado? I was thinking of using foil or some such material - The Airfix kit has a rather nasty looking gap aft of the wing that I'd like to try and sort out - I'm not after Mega-accuracy but it's be good to have something.
  9. What a blooming awesome looking build - lovely work thus far! The little bits you have to move might be annoying, but given the standard of your work elsewhere on this, I'm sure you'll get it all sorted out!
  10. Many thanks Dean - just what I needed. I have to say having read through your whole thread - that was an awesome bit of work and a fantastic looking model! Stuart
  11. Hi All, Does anyone know much about the SEPECAT Jaguar? I have the Airfix 1/48 GR.3 kit (Hence why I posted this in Modern not Cold War) and I'd like to backdate it to a pre-Gulf War GR.1 Asides from not fitting the over wing pylons/Sidewinders, does anyone know of any other majour visual changes between the two marks? Thanks for your help in advance! Stuart
  12. Love seeing those Matchbox kits built up - Superb looking build.
  13. That is a very nice looking build - Is it a Malta bird?
  14. Thanks Troy, That's some great information, and now looking at the model I can see exactly what you mean about the cowling and spinner - but like you said, it shouldn't be a hard fix. I was thinking of getting their old Seafire kit (which I think is based on the same moulds) and this'll really help. I do however, have the new tool Vb kit in the stash - which I agree is much more refined. Thanks for the link to the painting thread as well - I'll have a read. Cheers! Stuart
  15. Superb! I've been at this for years and couldn't build that!
  16. Thanks Simon, I'm sure you'll enjoy it - It's a fun kit. The only issue to my eye is the profile of the windscreen and canopy.
  17. Hi All, I just thougt I'd share my most recent build with you all. This is Airfix's old (ish) tooling of Wing Commander Douglas Bader's Supermarine Spitfire mk.Va. It was one of their special charity boxings. It was a pretty fun build, although not the most accurate of Spitfire kits - it's certainly has some shape issues around the cockpit! Although the wings on look good. I'd build another of these old kits - but I'd have to fix that windscreen. It was (badly) painted with a paintbrush and Humbrol Acrylics and Humbrol Spray clears. I think is will be the last time I use Humbrol's acrylic paints for anything other than detail painting. Overall I'm reasonably happy with it - It's only my 2nd finished 1/48 kit in the last 10 years. Thanks for Looking! Stuart
