  1. "Where for art though Albert". Has Brexit overcome all modeling, conversely is it so wet and soggy that the modeling bench is underwater. Or is the erstwhile modeler Off having fun with cars. Enquiring minds want to know Ray - who's at the cottage in Nova Scotia, where its uncharacteristally hot and sunny... You can't rely on anything nowadays....
  2. Nice Stuka and yes the yellow make a big difference in separating it from the boring 70/71 schemed aircraft. Mr Paint is MrHobby? is it the lacquer or alcohol based Acrylic? I'm assuming these use to be the Sangyo paints?
  3. I have this in my unbuilt stack... Since I'm battling a wwi two winged thing, I need something a little less stressful. Your build is inspiring me to get the box out... Great job so far Steve !! Ray
  4. With the Alclad primer, and as a rule with any laquer based paint the first coat must be a light misted coat, the primer Does etch into the plastic and until the first coat is on you don't want to go hog wild lol or you will have issues. It's neat stuff though. Ray
  5. Nothing like a hot toddy for a cold. Even if it doesn't cure it, you feel so much better, just don't attempt any modelling whilst ahem using the medication... Bloody impressive work on the Fuselage. This is coming along really fast now. Ray
  6. Thanks for the compliments. The Checkerboard is made up originally of decals and paint. First was all decal and went horribly wrong. I nearly parked it for ever at that point. Stripped the decal off and then masked and painted. Then i managed to lose the canopy fitting it. It sprang off into infinity... Sigh I searched for days but couldn't find it. So waited weeks for a replacement from Tamiya. Ray
  7. Great build . I have the AK Interactive sets too. I used them on a Me109 nemesis. They actually are dark when you first use them, but with clearcoat and finishing they come out lighter and are really neat both brush and airbrush. I wonder if they will produce more sets though.
  8. Pretty much out of the box except BarracudaCals decals. Its missing a pitot tube on the wing. It kept snapping off. This is my second model after a 12 year layoff. Oh and scale is the only real scale 1/72 Next up a wwi green thing...
  9. I built the Airfix kit as a Christmas present when I was 9 in the late 70's so we need a new up to date version. Can you get all 5 done by say September that way a new one will be out By october and it will be for sale in LHS In Canada by Christmas .. Oh wait we're not supposed to call it that.... Ray
  10. If you have good access to Gunze Mr Hobby Acrylics, they have a wider range than Tamiya and they airbrush the same, with the added benefit they are shinier. Of course here in North America they have just about vanished. ;( Another option is Ak-Intertacive Air Series. They brush paint and spray really well and they have a couple of RLM sets. http://ak-interactive.com/v2/?product=luftwaffe-camouflages-air-series Ray
  11. Peter, For the early tailplane on the Brengun Typhoon could you cut thin decal paper or plastic card to the shape of the fishplates. Ray
  12. Is that grey green under the chipping on the Kate... Neat builds Ray
  13. I was about to ask what a "penguin" was, but found this wiki for it... Lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_slang I wonder if there is a wiki for the navy types... Oh wait that would be almost a foreign language... (joking) Ray
  14. No it would be a Sea Herc or "Sherc"!... They actually look neat as flyings boats. Ray
  15. Well to bring this back to herc's, they did land one on one of them their boats.... Which is really insane... Well actually the insane part was repeating the trick over 20 times Ray
  16. Better watch out the rivet counters will have many issues with that spitfire... Teasing btw Ray
  17. Don't forget the light. It makes a huge difference, I work in IT, so I'm in front of a screen all day. That doesn't help the light and readers are key or I'd never see anything close. My eyesight went the other way. I used to be shortsighted now I'm longsighted so reading magnifiers and a good light are really important to me. I have used an optivisor, but lol if you push it up and then forget its on, it can cause some hilarious comments from the family. Ray
  18. Nice models Lizz, and very shiney nm looks good. Btw who's the manufacturer? Ray
  19. This thread is a complete and utter danger to anyone reading it... If you're at work, your peers give you funny looks. At home it's the same thing. All from the fits of laughter that break out... Plus it's a huge time waster.. Please post more!!! Oh and the model is interesting too... Ray
  20. I have the original Dolphin so would have preferred the big ack. Ray
  21. Very attractive and clean build, well done
  22. This thread is one of the best I have read, the work on the Albert is fun to watch but the stories are hilarious. I know it's been suggested but a book on this thread would be pretty cool Ray
