  1. Right, I think time to broaden my horizons, I’ve built 5 A4-Qs so this is a sign to make something else and where better than in amongst a variety community build...
  2. It’s 1/48 decals I bought for this very GB, I do have plenty Airfix 1/72 mind....so a B\C kit is what I after then I guess it’s just fins and VOR to make up or add?
  3. It’s 1/48 decals I bought for this very GB, I do have plenty Airfix 1/72 mind....
  4. Oh no, I’m hoping I can make the one I bought into an A4-Q then....yikes Italeri? I just saw a version from 1970 on the instruction picture and thought that will do? Awe naw
  5. Ok so made a real mess of it but it’s together and tightening up. Should be able to tidy up the glue spillages. Eduard kits are magnificent but really over complicated a lot of the time which can be really off putting.
  6. Glad you got out a couple of warning shots Craig, tamiya AS-16 and a 1/48 A-4 just freshly ordered from Wonderland... Argentine A-4 Q
  7. I think this was the right approach to tackling this, port side engine cover with tropical filter is on the to the cowl ring and under cowl cover. The fit is going to be quite tight. I used Revell contacta first which bulged a bit from the seams so switched to extra thin which wasn’t sticking the flare dampening bits to the replacement engine covers. This stuck it but it has run onto the cowl ring a little..nothing a gentle sand won’t fix. Speaking of sand, I’m going to be trying to give this a sand blasted dusty sun bleached effect with powders by AK and maybe even the glue finger print might help with the texture...
  8. @AaronKSJ thanks for looking in. They have sat on the bench while I pluck up the courage to attempt it. My plan is to build up the cowl pieces which i have started so will get the proper shape and hope to try tomorrow with this... Thanks
  9. They are brilliant. Great side by side. The flag is really well done, great pose, I’ll need to try that
  10. The blue range are good paints. The Luftwaffe desert colours are good
  11. The tropical filters might have been better just being the filters that could be placed over the top or replace just that part. Let’s hope it goes well, can’t stop now!
  12. Does look a nice clean airframe well put together, fast work
  13. EKdo 19 were testing the suitability of Bf 109s and Fw 190s as ground attack aircraft in tropical conditions from Castel Benito airfield. The tropical filters cowl is one piece. I’ve never attempted anything like this before and although it looks like I used my teeth to make the cuts I’m hoping il be able to smooth this all out and once painted you’d never know...hopefully. My plan of attack is to make the entire front section up with cowling, cowling ring, underside and cowl mounted gun cover all around the engine pieces giving me the correct shape to then attach. I had a real battle getting the sides of the fuselage to meet at top, bottom and rear and forward ends. I had to trim and sand a lot off the cockpits sides until I got enough tolerance to glue and hopefully over night it will bind in place.
  14. I do love the MiG-15, built a few and the only a/c I have on permanent display is a pro built Czechoslovak 🇨🇿 MiG-15. I’d fly this one
  15. I just suddenly remembered I got a 1/32 G from my mother in law last year....may as well add that to my entries with the Eduard 109 remaining from the Afrika box (Other over on the freshly started Africa GB) and maybe a wee 1/72 in a big brother little brother style.
  16. Welcome Ross, it’s a great place with great people, enjoy
  17. Very decent start and progress for day 1. Like that interior shade
  18. Cockpit built up with the fiddly photo etch but it really details it up
  19. Not a lot to show despite nearly a full day at the bench but it’s crunch time. I have to bite the bullet and saw off the cowling to replace it with another cowling mould which contains the tropical air filters.
  20. Well, as a guide I had purchased the Hobby Boss type VII-A, seems to be the only one of the market. Not cheap but bought from Germany rather than chance it cheaper from China and she arrived today well ahead of schedule. A top opening box reveals a tiny but super detailed kit of every incarnation of a Type A possible and with photo etch for railings and decks! This means I can make kits to represent U-33 in all her guises from Commission in pre-war 1936 through her 3 very interesting Spanish Civil War schemes, splinter camo, and also depict her through the Kriegsmarine modifications from rear deck gun, no rear deck gun replaced by AA rear conning tower AA gun, winter garden and conning tower changes and even her winter changes in 39/40 when Hitler came to greet the boat home in September 39, to her full re-fit and re-paint for her fateful 1940 mission to Scotland.
  21. Hardly inspiration but some early examples from me for the pot
  22. Team Afrika assemble..... Ok, studying the instructions and it’s quite a tricky start...straight into photo etch drilling and painting...3 airframes, 2 sets of wings. Like the look of the tropical air filters though on top of the research books

One more sleep..... Looking at the magnificent professional data set prepared by @Robert Stuart I feel I really should now add my third build to give us a slice in the pie chart for “Sea”. I don’t have and can’t find decals for U-331 but how hard can it be to paint a black snake on the side of a 1/350 u-boat conning tower... I’m definitely kicking off with the Fw 190 Cockpit tomorrow..excited to get started
