  1. Great I think following what people have done and tried before is great for newbies as we have zero knowledge beyond glue and basic paint. Thanks Col.
  2. Thanks David, it's nice to know that newbie work gets looked at too. It's very encouraging on here, great community! Too encouraging as I think I am buying too many kits. I think it will be Tamiya light grey, some pics I see the paint has a blue hue to it and next up is a massive Revell MiG 31.. thanks for stopping by, hopefully get some paint on tomorrow. Was thinking pre shading though never done it, do. I do that at this point?
  3. I like differing metal shades, feels more authentic and yours is great, just right
  4. Thanks Jay, yes it is a real beast, so much larger than WWII 1/72...but enjoying it so much I ordered an MiG 31 which arrived today😁 We have a wedding to pay for I keep hearing 😕
  5. Where did you get the cockpit colour Planecrazee? Or which one is it? Looking to grab something for impending Russian multi purchases set to arrive. Good work so far. I like the look of Zvezda kits, enjoy watching this
  6. As described Hewy, good guidance thanks. It's very good stuff and like magic detail reappears
  7. Lol well I suppose these things even out then
  8. What a kit 😋 Lovely....
  9. Fiancé returns from shops and she says is that all you've done?! Eh it's now a completely different colour can't see any difference she says...😳
  10. And some newbie cockpit cover of choice blutac and Tamiya fine surface primer...
  11. Got them on not sure what way they should sit, either way the fit is not so great, I'm wordering if cement to really melt the bits together rather than liquid poly would have helped. I don't think I have the skill set to fill all this in and sand and smooth. Might have to go with super oil leak weathering around here 😩
  12. Well as Gerard Butler would say this is fiddly as.... instructions not great and dry fit re the intakes ain't looking good.
  13. Thanks MM! Been watching yours and it made me want to at least give it another go. If you think mr repair is good I'm happy with that!! Thanks! The Condor one is tricky some of the instructions are muddled but your MiG looks quite a technical build, thankfully mine is a bit easier to make
  14. Great tips guys thanks so much! SoftScience if it does show would I just sand it again? paint heavy or is that me done for and would need to work some kind of weathering or battle scar in?
  15. Thanks, I had only ever primed a couple of models before and definitely thought it was worth it. Had used the Humbrol Matt primer it was great on the first couple but then went kind of grainy? Guy in shop said Tamiya was good stuff. Thanks for the tip, because I would have rage binned it without knowing the detail returns. Would I spray from quite a distance then or quickly light coat? Thanks again Brian
  16. Thanks Glynn... the support on here is top notch. Never mind binning the MiG I was going to put everything on eBay, instead went to the big smoke (Glasgow) and spent a few bob on the stuff to finish this....anda Tomahawk, P47 and all the bits to do them too hehe thanks again..
  17. And currently after a much boosted marathon session tonight here we are...
  18. Sanding stick sacrificed himself but just about saw me through, I don't know what you think but it went better than I thought and i am pressing ahead. I am not sure if there's anything further I can do improve it further?
  19. Hi! Thanks for checking back...love this site, like in "Blackhawk Down"...no man gets left behind! Thanks so much, it encouraged me to be brave and give the repair a go....
  20. Looking great! Good detail on the engines! The Condor MiG 25 is very bland in that area.
  21. YEAR SO FAR, jeez busy! Great builds!
  22. It's a great effect you have Solo, outstanding job, its art
  23. Wow that burnt metallic blue on exhaust nozzles, looks like you could lick your finger touch it and it would go tssssssss. Lovely work! A beaut so far
