very nice work. -
1:72 airfix GR3 + 1:72 Hasegawa GR.Mk 7

Have to agree, the Airfix new harrier is a nice little kit, just done the GR9 myself. Enjoyable build, few little fit issues around the fan, but keeps you on your toes and nothing insurmountable. -

on my shopping list! -
Hi All, not sure whether this should be here or just vehicles, probably both.... Started my Miniart D7, and whilst having a break from the minute engine detail parts, had a little bash at the tracks. Have been struggling to get the microscopic pieces off the sprues in one piece, used sprue cutters which caused a lot of the small pieces to snap, requiring repair before even getting onto the model, and reverted to a mini saw but that really hasn't proved any better. Any ideas on removing these tiny pieces in one piece? Back to the tracks, again, similar problem, microscopic fragile parts, even one of the shoes snapped in half on me. I've had a look around the net, but haven't come across any AM tracks - anybody had more success or know of a manufacturer? Thanks

28 Sqn Wessex XT678 "Hotel" HC2, RAF Sek Kong 1982/3

cracking job. -
Got mine today, looks nice. Couple of bits broken of the sprue as typical Airfix, small holes to fill where it has come away from the piece. Had a look at images, and doesn't seem to be any regularity, but can any expert confirm whether the white/green artic cammo is fairly random, or is there a pattern? Cheers

Hasegawa S-3A Lockheed Viking 1/72

Yes, could see when the masks came of that it was a bit on the narrow side, lesson learnt for the ESCI big brother. -
Ah-1Z "Viper" - 1/48 Kitty Hawk - OOB

Superb job! Inspiration for mine! -
Just finished this little Viking from the Hasegawa kit from 1987, OOB. Really enjoyed this build. Nice little kit despite the age. My first bit of serious re-scribing of the upper wing surfaces. Turned out a little trench like but have to start somewhere (the Airfix Vulcan awaits in the stash!) No real fit issues other than the wing roots, but slow, gradual gluing with superglue did the trick and filled the gaps. The top front and rear edges of the wing/fuselage also needed a bit of filling. Found the instructions a little vague in a couple of places, but plenty of reference material out there including a walkround on here. I used the decals from the box although i did have the Cam decals set, but I have the same in 1/48 for my Esci kit, so didn't want to use the same scheme, so those decals are available if anyone wants to buy them. I've still alot of progress to make on canopy masking and painting, always feel let down by the results. The Hasegawa decals went on ok, only a couple of breaks but went back together nicely with Microset. Was pleased with the weathering effect even if it probably doesn't suit this scheme, but have a shot of a very patchy grey low vis scheme on which it would have looked good. Would certainly recommend the kit if you come across it.

I just had an reply from Revell to an email asking about the missing part. Apparently the sprue gate for the lens was inadvertently not opened by the Polish manufacturer for the production run; as many guessed with the inclusion of the pod in the IDS version, it was always there waiting for the RAF version to follow. The problem has been addressed, and replacement clear parts will I'm told be available from the parts department shortly.

Westland Wessex HU.5 - Fly 1/32 OOB

interesting to see how this goes, almost picked one up at Telford. -
Then I shall try removing it I think.

Just doing the little Airfix gazelle and the rotors. Given them a coat of Vallejo aluminium then some hairspray to give a little chipping on the leading edge later, and finally more Vallejo black. I've tried several coats now, but every time it dries with a crackle effect showing the aluminium beneath. First time I've used this hairspray thing, am I doing something basic wrong? Guess its a sand back down to basics again now, though I suppose in theory, should be able to water wipe back to the aluminium?

Classic Airframes Fairey Gannet - Wing Fold
sailorboy61 replied to sailorboy61's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Many thanks for that and the4 link to your build, most useful. Have a couple of the 72nd kits to work on which might do to get some idea, then see if I dare try it. Cheers -
Hi, does anyone know whether the Airwaves wing fold set for the Dyenector kit also fits the CA version? Thanks.

Thanks All.

Cheers, that's the thread I'd been looking for!

I'm sure I recall seeing this discussed here previously but can't seem to find it again now. Can anyone advise what to use for the cockpit blue in Russian aircraft, preferably to match Eduard colour set. I think I remember it's a matter of mixing up, is that correct? Thanks
