  1. If, like me you spend considerable time wandering around the internet looking for 'stuff', and I mean modelling related, and not 'THAT' modeling either, then occasionally you stumble across finds that demonstrate modeling skills and dedication of a level I can't even dream of. Having recently acquired Eduard's weekend Hellcat Mk.1, I was make such a search and stumbled across this http://www.geocities.jp/yoyuso/f6f/f6fe-1.html that I've spend several days reading through. I also found that he(?) has produced a huge quantity of other models, the treads for some of which http://www.geocities.jp/yoyuso/top2.htm are also in English. Hope you enjoy as much as I have and much credit and respect to the person responsible. What a community we are part of. Enjoy!
  2. As you do, picked somerhing unusual and therefore difficult as a camo scheme. The smoke rings rather then squiggles. I know there are Mike Grant decals out there, although they seem from initial searches to be somewhat illusive. Other than freehand for which I dont have the consistency skill wise, anyone know of other options or where to fine the said decals please? https://www.scalemates.com/kits/131740-mike-grant-decals-mg48-043-smoke-ring-camo
  3. @Bear Paw @Beardie good few on re release with the 'little man' with them, including the red baron, and also the DH.2. It was only a matter of time before they came round again. I've a couple stashed, including a felixstowe duelists, but reluctant to start any. My let out has been the 1/32 Roden equivalents, cheap and cheerful, and if you can do that you can throw a WNW together I'm sure! https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235037045-new-from-wingnut-wings/
  4. If you're doing any kind of filtering/washes/weathering, I find it's all pretty pointless going for 'the' colour. Yes not all green is green, but ball park always worked out OK for me.
  5. Nice job. Certainly value for money these recent 1/32 boxings. Not long finished the 109 and have the spits as well as this in the stash. Picked up the new Eduard LooK! IP for this one which looks good too.
  6. So Ive picked up Academys MiG 29 with the digital cammo scheme but have since seen the GWH version with the tiger on the tail. Anyone know if the scheme is available in decals anywhere to save me selling a kidney for the GWH boxing. Cheers.
  7. Nice one @sonofjim look forwards to reading that. tomorrow.
  8. wild guess, you've done this before? fantastic.
  9. OK, think I've answered that myself now, the single tub bits are missing from the E kit...... What else
  10. Hi to the experts. I'm aware that Academy's boxings of their F-15 contain many common parts. I'm after building a C but have a couple of E kits. Have Academy simply added sprues for the E or have they also taken away from the C bits. Again I'm probably making a critical error assuming their C kit came before the E! TIA
  11. It's a cracking kit this, built one and have several mare, including Eduards Not Limited Ed boxing! Great detail for 1/72, for me it went together really well if a little fiddly. Used the colored photo-etch for the pit and the Master brass and resin gun which looks great. Enjoy.
  12. Yes the outboard ones are part if the query. I too thought they were for the balance weights but did eventually find a couple of images online and the weights appear to be attached to the front edge of the flap rather than onto the wing so I'm going with that plan for now. Thanks for your help.
  13. Building Italeri's 1/48 Picchiatello and am unsure about some underwing details. The underside of the wing has several hollows and I'm wondering if they should be filled. There are 4 each side adjacent to where the holes should be drilled for the smaller bomb racks. There are additionally 2 either side next to the flaps but on the actual wing. I think these should be on the flaps for the balance weights rather than on the wing part? I can't find any suitable images of the underside of the wings to assist. And info appreciated
  14. thanks Jimmy. I've opted to try some of Mr Paints in the various blues. Not really a fan of smelly paints, but will see how it goes, trial for the Tamiya 1/32 sat staring at me!
  15. I have this too, bought for a trial run of the 1/32 one I also have but thinking he revell 1/72 version might also be needed as a trial for this one lol.
  16. If I can jump in on this tread myself since those in the know are around, Im doing Tamiyas 1/48 -1A and am struggling with the 'sea blue' topsides. I have Tamiya's XF17 sea blue, but it seems very gree. Indeed I did one of Revells 1/72s a while back in the XF17 and really wasn't happy with the colour, way to dark from what I've seen form models finished by others.. Pointers appreciated and apologies to OP for jumping in. Simon
  17. My understanding, being in a similar boat @MickE is that the Italeri kit is ok for an early version, the Academy 1/72 being the most modern tooling. There is also the Hasegawa kit if you're feeling flush, a specific UK version although I haven't found much about accuracy on that one.
  18. Now in the correct section! Can anyone advise whether the 4 x 1000lb bombs supplied in the kit useable? I'm many miles for an expert but although nice detailed little things, the shape doesn't seem right, a bit too pointy perhaps?
  19. Just like to say thanks for making the rest of us look total pants! Inspirational work!!
  20. Looking for a bit of guidance and tips on how best to mark of a nose cone requiring a different colour paint, particularly as in my Tornado, when the paint change doesn't follow panel lines! I tried using a rubber washer which when I finally managed to get it properly in place was OK, but didn't give the hard edge wanted. Tried to cut a circular hole in a piece of plasticard which was better, but again didn't get a hard enough edge as the nose isn't properly circular. Next was masking off the soft edge a bit to tidy up, but even with curve tape was far from satisfactory as ended up with a couple of kinks to the line edge. Pointers / hint gratefully received!
