Excellent! When I read the thread title, I hoped it wasn't going to be because of 'creative differences'. :-)

Luscombe Silvaire yesterday, heading in the direction of Old Warden.

My Blenheim has just arrived, so I have taken a cursory first look. My initial impressions were that I was reminded somewhat of the Hasegawa Beaufighter, though with more detail and possibly even finer panel lines. The thought of what Airfix could do with the Beaufighter is almost too much to bear! Anyway, I digress. I checked the transparencies with a 3x loupe and could detect a faint line on one panel of one canopy half and another faint line on one of the turrets. They aren't visible to the naked eye, so I consider it perfectly acceptable. Hopefully that'll be as bad as it gets. If I didn't have so much on the workbench at the moment, I'd dive right in, but with a Tiger Moth, Harrier GR.1, Vampire T.11, A-4P, Gladiator, Typhoon Ib, five Fw 190A-8s (all Airfix) and two Hasegawa Fw 190D-9s all giving me evils, I think I should at least finish a few before giving in to temptation. Oh, and by the way, Airfix: Beaufighter. You know you want to!

My Blenheim has just arrived. Having examined the transparencies with a 3x loupe, I can detect one, very faint line on one panel of one canopy half and a very faint line on one of the turrets. Bearing in mind that they are faint when magnified, they are not at all noticeable with the naked eye and perfectly acceptable, IMHO. Thinking back to the canopies in the ICM Do 215 and the E-3 canopy in their Bf 109E kits, now that was pushing the word "transparent" to the limit!

We had a Lysander and two BE2es from Old Warden flying around on Thursday. Definitely not something you see every day!

I've always used Humbrol Liquid Poly to thin their Model Filler. It seems to work well and cures quite rapidly. Whenever I end up with a small amount of Liquid Poly in the jar, I add some filler to it, the most recent case being some pretty dried up stuff that wasn't useable otherwise. Being a bit of a cheapskate, I like to find uses for things that would otherwise be thrown away!

Count me in for a D-11 and D-13!

A sparrowhawk! It caused utter panic at the bird feeders and I think it may have taken a sparrow in the ensuing chaos. One of the sparrows flew into a window and stunned itself for about fifteen minutes, before miraculously recovering and flying away. I have been seeing a pair of sparrowhawks in the area for a few weeks now and the female at least now knows of one place of easy pickings! Magnificent creature.

Tiger Moth G-AOEI did a couple of passes over my house. Fitting, as I'm making a model of it at the moment.

Two Merlins heading NE and making a glorious racket! :-)
-
We had a Miles Falcon flying around today. That was a very welcome sight indeed.

I have recently got hold of the AZ civil Mk IX release. Every option is just begging to be done! The TR.8 is a must have for me. I can see a whole slew of civil spitfires being built in the near future!

I bought a Lightning today and having followed this topic, decided to check the canopy. Using a loupe, I can *just* make out a faint flaw on one of the quarterlights. I would never have noticed it if I didn't know to look and on my example I think is perfectly acceptable.

Much as I am fond of the Stirling, forty quid is a bit too spendy for me!
-
There's also the old Pegasus kit in 1/72.
-
A Piper Cub and a Lysander at the same time, but in opposite directions!
-
Had a Sea King and Piper Cub fly over earlier, right now we have the Bedfordshire Police helicopter searching for something/someone between here and Sandy. Bound to be one of those ne'er do wells from Sandy! ;-)
-
What you need is Eagle Cals sheet number 21, which was available in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32. I think it may be out of production now, so I would recommend keeping an eye out on eBay or your favourite online shops.

Just had a Spitfire fly right over the house, heading west. Same one, I wonder?

A couple more for Delta- Doesn't Ever Leave The Airport Don't Ever Link Through Atlanta. I seem to remember someone referring to BOAC as something like Boeing Only Airline Company.
-
I decided on G-AOEI in the end, as I have the Aeroclub sheet, it's from Cambridge, and I didn't have the necessary crimson in the stash for my other choice, G-ANLD.
-
Now there's an aeroplane I'd love to see available in model form. I have the old Dekno kit, but those old Miles aeroplanes are crying out for the Eastern European treatment.
-
I made a start on mine last night. I spent until about 2am scouring the internet looking for pictures of a suitable subject, but still haven't made a decision, although the pale blue and brown of G-EMSY is tempting, even if the necessary masking isn't! I really need to get hold of all those Aeroclub letters!

My Tiger Moth arrived this morning and having read with interest about the cowling step, I couldn't help but tape the fuselage halves together and offer up the cowling. I found that a little filing of the locating tabs and squaring up the port fuselage front above the tab seemed to make the step pretty much disappear. Despite having way too many kits on the go, I think this one will be jumping the queue!
