  1. Ok, a couple of examples for you. My local model shop, back when I had one, sold more 1/72 kits than all the other scales combined and they were one of the better model shops around. Not only that, but David Hannant has said in several occasions that they sell way more 1/72 kits than any other scale. Now I don't imagine Hannants mainly sell to the casual or pocket money modeller, so are a good example of what the average modeller in the UK buys.
  2. Yeah, that's a sparrowhawk, male of the species. It's the second time I've seen him in the garden, earlier this year he ambushed a group of over ten sparrows who were on the feeder. This time he sat on the fence for around five minutes, which is very rare.
  3. Not exactly over my house, but more in the garden, was this handsome fellow: There just happened to be a camera in front of me and he thoughtfully stayed put long enough for me to get a few pics.
  4. At around 4.30 pm I saw what looked like a Stampe SV4 flying in the direction of Old Warden. It's been a long ol' time since I saw one of those.
  5. Had an Avro XIX (Anson) and Bucker Bu 133 flying around today. Sadly there was a midair collision a couple of miles away and it seems one of the aircraft, a microlight, crashed, killing the pilot. The other managed to make it back to Thurleigh.
  6. Had a de Havilland Hornet Moth fly over the other day. Haven't seen one in ages!
  7. I used some from their Battle of Britain set and they silvered worse than any decal I've tried!
  8. My DH 60X arrived today and first impressions are very favourable. There are three decal options and lots of alternative parts. I'll post pictured later, if anyone's interested.
  9. More!!!! Lovely pics, especially the Comet. It's great to see it back in the air again.
  10. I've had this happen before. I put it down to humidity, but would be very interested to find out for sure. My decals were a write-off.
  11. I seem to remember someone over at Hyperscale used a hairdryer to speed up the drying time of Xtracolour. Probably best not to 'nuke it', if you catch my drift! Otherwise, maybe try some Rustin's Driers next time. I've been getting good results with it.
  12. Just a chance I might be able to make the Sunday. Fingers crossed!
  13. Argh!!! I have a previous engagement which can't be backed out of. Oh well, maybe next year? :-(
  14. Could be ideal for those silver 4mm civil registration codes for Tiger Moths, etc!
  15. A pair of spitfires heading north this afternoon.
  16. Fox Moth, Puss Moth, Leopard Moth and Hornet Moth next please!
  17. I saw those listed under Future Releases at Hannants the other day, but promptly forgot to post about it! This is great news for de Havilland fans. I'll need at least one of each!
  18. I remember seeing a COD Gannet at the FAA Museum's reserve collection some years ago. It looked incredibly handsome in the blue-grey livery and yours certainly does it justice!
  19. We went in 2007, when visiting friends in Seattle. It was a glorious day and our host took us there on the way to the airport (we were flying to San Diego later). There was a B-17 doing touch and gos for most of the afternoon. Well worth a visit.
