  1. This wheels do look very nice, sort of Persian gold which is very fitting as you would probably see most of the SVs in the UAE. Also with the rothmans blue colour being used for the body you would only need a white balboni style stripe to make it look very 90s williams f1.
  2. From what I've been told the McLaren blue is lighter than 917/gt gulf blue and the Aston gulf blue isn't right either, So 917 gulf blue with pearl tinter is about right. I have done a quick test of it a few months ago on some scrap plastic and it looked near enough spot on. Shaun
  3. If you are making a gulf f1gtr or davidoff lemans version then you should get some clear pearl tinter from hiroboy also just so the blue is near enough the right blue. Also i can only vouch for the Aoshima f1gtr but they are just perfect, the right amount of stock details but with plenty of room to add to them. Shaun
  4. Right so a little interior update. The colour mismatch was really bugging me so I have striped it back to plastic to start again but this time in white primer. Shaun
  5. Close but not quite. From what I know of there are very few sturnrubin C-GTs in the world but the one I am going to replicate is being painted in real life now for the LA Autoshow. Also a couple more purchases over the weekend. Aoshima McLaren F1 gtr Scale motorsport f1 gtr full carbon jacket set from hiroboy. Fujimi McLaren mp4/5 and fujimi McLaren mp4/12c gt3 from plazajapan in the Blackweek sale Shaun
  6. To answer the questions. The finish was 1 light coat followed by 1 heavier coat done about 5 minutes later. Like I said it was a quick test. The only clear coat I have tried over it so far is Mr hobby top coat and it was a little too harsh for it. I will be trying again with alclad aqua gloss as it works ok over alclad chrome so hopefully will be ok over this. And yes this is from the 30ml refill bottle. The result with Mr hobby top coat. (Which from what I have seen is the kindest clear coat before aqua gloss). The blemish at the bottom of the cap was caused by me really rubbing quite hard on it may to test durability. I will be trying again with alclad soon when I get some time with no kids under my feet all day. Shaun
  7. Thanks for the input keith. I was having the exact same thought, It needs something to change the look up a little to add a bit extra visually. Shaun
  8. So finally a little update to this build. As we all know the weather recently has got a little bit cold so that has slowed my progress down, like it does every year, but over the last couple of days I have been allowed to spray in a warmer part of the house so I've been able to get a few bits done. The interior parts for the LB car have had the first stage of colour put on. It is not as bright as I thought it was going to be but maybe when the darker colours are on and clear has been applied it will brighten up a bit. Failing that I will restart with white primer under or put some gulf orange over instead. The main body parts have finally been sprayed with tamiya matt clear. For the first matt colour car I've made I was torn between if I liked it or not or if I needed to go over it in semi gloss. Honestly I'm still a little torn but I don't want to change it now just to like it better how it was. Complicated thought process I know but I want to like this build in 6 months still. The standard GT-R has finally had a couple of coats of vw white followed by a couple of xirallic crystal white (basically a fancy pearl white used on a gemballa enzo) and to top it off a few light coats of premixed clear just so i can get the decals on. In standard light. And sunlight. More soon Shaun
  9. Purchased a Porsche C-GT with zero paints sternrubin paint. Just need to make some svipe logos and another build will be ready to start. Applause for anyone who knows the inspiration for this build. Shaun
  10. Amazon has the 30ml refill of molotow chrome for £16.xx at the moment which should last a very long time depending on how you use it. Shaun
  11. Right so I know this molotow chrome stuff has been talked about a lot over the past few months, some good stuff and some bad, so I recently picked some up for myself to test it out and from first impressions I am very happy with it. This is straight out the airbrush at at 24psi on a black spray tin lid. No primer, nothing special done just wiped off most of the dust and sprayed. I have no doubts that it can be made better with more prep but for a quick mess around last night I am very impressed. I will be testing a few bits like masking and clear coats on it later today just to see what it can take. Shaun
  12. Thanks for the comments guys hopefully I can get some clear over the LB car today and also some colour paint on the standard GT-R. Shaun
  13. Hey Matt great to see you've started a build thread for this monster of a car. From my experience of the roaster version the doors can be tricky but from looking through my one of these kits they have changed how they attach the doors with the little extra instruction slip. With zero paints primer It says after 2 hours drying at 20° (or something like that) it should be fine to paint but for me I always leave to dry overnight most of the time. Shaun
  14. Upscalehobbies is in the US I believe and from what I hear they are trialling a prepay option the higher end mfh kits. Shaun
  15. I haven't looked through the sv kit yet but from the aventador roadsters I made at the start of the year the windcreen was fine. And the big Ferrari is moving forward but very slowly as I am just sorting out a few of the front suspension parts before I go any further with the body just to save aggro later. Shaun
  16. Thanks for the kind words roger. I can't take all the credit though as this for me is one of Aoshimas best kits (along with the McLaren f1 gtr) which almost just slots together. Shaun
  17. Very good job and I agree this is one of those must have tamiya kits. Shaun
  18. Nice I got one of these recently also. It's a fantastic looking car Shaun
  19. Right so on to an update for the build. Standard gt-r is sat waiting still in white primer just while I wait for the humidity to drop down a little as I am a little worried about it messing with the painting. LB GT-R has been fully painted in zero paints LB zero fighter grey. Also had a very light coat of clear coat to help with the decal adhesion. The only reason the LB car has leapt ahead of the standard one is due to the standard one needing 2 coats of primer as opposed to 1 for the LB. So after a day of gassing off I made a start at making some decals and getting them on to go along side the kit decals. The front area had carbon added from hobby design. I tried with shunko carbon but honestly it is the worst carbon decal I have ever used, it thick and brittle and doesn't want to stick down around even the lightest of bends. P.s. the gtr badge has been added since the picture. The rear had some carbon added also. I tried to do it in 1 bit from side to side but it was a little tricky so split it into 3 bits for ease. The whole car from the rear. And the whole car from the front. A lot of the decals are kit stock decals but I also added a few from the aventador fighter set aswell. More when I finally get my butt into gear and order some more paint. (Matt clear for this) Shaun
  20. Thanks for the comment Ian. Honestly I love the look of the LB GT-R. I will definatly be getting a couple more for future builds.. Shaun
  21. Impressive job Andrey really like this colour combo of white and carbon. Shaun
  22. It would but it was the only picture I could find of the 1/20 in short notice so I will forgive the poor grammar. Shaun
  23. A Monday evening update. Today has been quite prouctive as you will see down below. Some annoying parts with some satisfying parts also. Tge main body components for each car have now been put in a coat of primer. Now I can finally picture the LB car with the arches without having glare from shiny white plastic. Things were all going well until, for only the second time ever, I had this issue with already sanded down mould lines coming through the primer and dipping leaving an extra sort of panel line. This only happened on one car and I figure it was just old primer probably too much thinner left I the can where I hadn't shaken it properly before plus maybe going too thick on the first coat. Soon sorted it though and now the only lines on the body are the ones that are ment to be there. It was worst on this little area just above the rear wheel Got the bonnet (or hood for you Americans ) painted in LB zero fighter grey. More little details will be added with paint soon. So on to one of the funny parts of today. It was only after I went through a million sheets of sand paper and 3 years worth of water sorting out the LB car body shell that I noticed the zero paints colour I chose for this car is almost the exact same colour as Halfords primer. Maybe with white primer under it may have a different tone but it's definatly not the primer colour coming through as the zero paint is thick and heavy. More soon Shaun
  24. No sure on if they were reboxed but I did have the Ducati 2007 moto gp bike andnthat was pretty good but like most italeri kits needs work. Shaun
