  5. the cause of my spitfres downfall It disappeared onto the grey of the fuselage so tried hand painting it!
  6. Started as Tamiya olive green and tinkered till I got what looked like the more "mossy" green the Finns used.
  7. Definitely sky blue Simon, and to my eyes the spitfire,s 3 is blue and not grey as per the decal sheet.
  8. Sorry folks lost the text thanks to the usual photobucket PITA! New tool airfix kit, lovely to build and markings just a bit different.Number 2 of a six plane stash clearance mega-build ongoing in the WIP section, thanks for looking.

  11. Hi folks hope you like my attempt at adding the prototype Hurricane to the collection.Part of a six plane stash clearance build in WIP this is the first one done.Airfix new tool kit,no major work other than filling the exhaust aperture and using decals(thanks Rick) and re-doing the early U/C doors as per this model. Not 100% accurate but I don,t count rivets!
  12. Sorry missed the question when posted ,yes the heller kit last year which still builds into a good model.
  13. Great job you,ve done,nice one!
  14. Thanks Simon, yes the cockpit was saved!since you are building this one heres the picture. To me the grey is much darker than normal.
  15. Excellent Avenger! paint and finish look great.
  16. First casualty of the build folks, the odd coloured spitfire which was suggested to be in FAA colours was at the decalling stage but because the code number did not show up on the fuselage I tried to hand paint over it and totally ruined it this led to an attempt to remove the paint and enough said it crashed into the bin so we are now six.The only thing that cheered me up was I had found a post on this very site discussing this aircraft including an excellent colour photograph and I have to agree with the thoughts of some of our experts that it was in the normal earth/green scheme with the undersides in grey with yellow ID marks on the leading edge of the wings as per the later day fighter scheme.
  17. Hi,this was built from the black cats version, the endurance markings come with the kit.I still have not finished the German version at the same time.no aftermarket parts were used. The German version is a different mark of lynx but some early releases had the nose parts for a British version I think.
  18. Thanks Pat,my eldest fled the nest leaving our loft conversion free,so plenty of shelf space and a surprising lack of dust for some reason!
  19. Yea, like this one a lot. Great build and finish, have to say these clipped wing Spitfires just don,t look right to me!
