  1. Beautiful build and finish, well worth all the effort.
  2. Wonderful work, looks fantastic and the best scheme the phantom ever wore too!
  3. Now that really looks impressive, great job.
  4. I think Chris has got it looking at google, does the bomb fins not give a clue?no expert but they don,t look allied and it would tie in with next years BoB anniversary.
  5. I did read that "the airfix people" had been measuring up a Shackleton in the midlands in one of the magazines. Then again they probably will release 10+ new kits next year and a B17 would be a seller especially in the states.
  6. Remember the scene in Father Ted when Dougal could,nt resist pressing the "do not press" button in the cockpit?Well popped into my LMS for a bottle of gloss white yesterday and came out with Revells Lufthansa 747-400! Oh dear I wish I had asked you guys about it first, some lovely panel lines but I,ve seen vac-forms with less flash! cut the major components off the sprue this morning and there are going to be some challenges when I get round to it.Anyone built it and still of sound mind?
  7. Excellent build and finish, engine detail really set,s it off.
  8. Have to agree with all thats been said Stix, fantastic finished work after all that went into it you should be very proud, it should be featured in one of the Military modelling magazines!
  9. Another winner Wolwe looks superb as ever, you really are raising the bar here in 1/72 scale.
  10. That looks superb, nice to see it in a different colour!
  11. Thanks,I cut of all the lumps and bumps especially on the upper fuselage as it was a terrible fit and needed filling and sanding I,ll add them before the gloss goes on quite enjoying this airliner lark!
  12. Hi Buzz, Thanks for the info on the wing colour I trawled through google for images and there were not many good shots of the upper wings so that can be rectified easily. I have matched the grey to the photographs available on line which appear much lighter than the box art. The photo ,s are taken outside which does,nt help.I left the lines on this one as being a first Airliner it,s very much practice piece the BA version is having the corrections before assembly
  13. Hi folks today,s progress.gray applied to wings ,engines and lower fuselage.I was just about to break out the Halfords appliance white but I am sure in the past it has reacted badly with acrylic Tamiya paint so have gone down the Tamiya white route which I have applied a couple of thin coats of matt white till I get the density for a coat of gloss.
  14. Best of luck Rob,my dad worked for a short while after the war at Gateshead depot and used to fire up the engines ready for work including Mallard and her sister engines,he always loved them!
  15. Excellent build and finish Stew, they are lovely little kits and nice to see a "different" operators markings.Nice one!
  16. Two superb builds Russ, excellent painting and subtle weathering as always, great to see two of these rarely seen beasts posted here.
  17. Hi all, just a last update of the day.I removed the fairings as instructed and sanded the lines to a point they cannot be seen so after a re_spray I am leaving to dry until tomorrow then thoughts turning to the gloss white, the BA version has had the same treatment so I think I will start to assemble it tomorrow.thanks for looking and the encouragement.
  18. Damn it! forgot about them, got them removed without to much fuss, should be much easier on the BA version as no assembly yet thanks for the reminder.
  19. Thanks again guys, and sorry Graham should have mentioned it is indeed 1/48 scale, the decals were bought for a D-day era MKIXc in stripes with only codes and serial supplied as Revels scheme is a bit uninspiring but the SEA scheme also has the roundels so I will get another kit to build a MKVIII.
  20. Hi folks, last couple of days progress, how you airliner guys have the patience to do this full time is beyond me! OK I have the impression this is not the best of Revell,s airliner kits but the filling and sanding especially on the top join of the fuselage has been a pain.Anyway she is primed as you can see there was a poor fit on the wing insert on the bottom surface so I had to "push" out the fuselage with scrap sprue so now there are a couple of minor areas to fill especially above the cockpit.thanks for looking in.
  21. Three superb spitfires! beautifully built and finished.
  22. Stunning build and finish, excellent weathering and beautifully photographed too!
  23. Thanks Graham,I had have never seen this kit in the original or Revell,s boxing and it has what appears to be two different inserts for the tailwheel area and two types of wheel and a set of doors so I wonder if Hasegawa have issued it as a MKVIII ignoring the shorter ailerons.
  24. This may have been covered so apologies but what is the difference between the MKVIII and MKIX?.the reason I ask is that I ordered some Ventura decals for a MK IXc for Revells re pop of Hasegawa,s kit and there are markings for an RAAF MK VIII in far eastern finish.I noticed on Peter,s superb post of the Tamiya 1/32 kit the taller pointed tail which looks like the one in the Revell kit.Just thought it might make a future project.
