  1. Only kidding,I'm not going to light the "blue" touchpaper on the whole "blue" debate but I remember as a kid my local library had a huge book on WW2 aircraft that I constantly borrowed full of colour profiles and the centre pages opened up to reveal Lou iv in a glorious royal blue over natural metal finish.Sadly now we know it's all pie in the sky but taking inspiration from the restored warbirds flying over the pond a couple of which are painted in that very scheme I'd like to build a shiney replica of one of those aircraft using the tried and trusted Hobbyboss kit and spare decals from the Tamiya kit complete with full D-day stripes.Grab your sunglasses!
  2. Hi folk's,waiting for parts to dry on the P-38 I found myself picking the two P-51 builds which I'd planned to leave till the weekend so now have the airframes assembled and ready for primer once, done I start the painting I'll split the photo's into the Particular scheme chosen.

  4. Hi folk's,interior on both builds done once the fuselages were joined it looked adequate for what will be seen.the wings and fuselages are assembled and drying nicely so boxed up till next weekend when I'll push on the builds.

  6. Cracking job P,might have to get one of these for a suitable GB in the future.
  7. Didn't I mention I was nicking the Shady Lady decals for one of mine then?
  8. That's a magnificent build Roger I've got this kit in the small stash.
  9. Missed that Craig! Well built mind but when you see some of the work in this forum makes you wonder what people will pay for quality.
  10. Cheers Pete, one day I'll finish the Revell 1/32 kit I got off you a few years back!
  11. Gobsmacked! There's a built model of the Airfix Me 410 on E-Bay for £63 with 16 bids on it,and I threw all my built kits away
  12. Hi folk's,as with the other build these are the interior basic's,
  13. Afternoon folk's starting with the cockpit this is what there is to work with,as with all easy kits there are the general parts but with these kits no side wall detail but some decalling should make what can be seen acceptable.
  14. Afternoon folk's managed an hour at the bench painted the superchargers once fitted dry brushed them then the booms to show the wear they caused, dry brushed all the leading edges in aluminium for added wear then glossed and decalled with only the tail numbers to add.
  15. Must have took a trip on the Marakesh express Pete it was the sixties!
  16. Hi folk's should be enought time to do another 1/48 build for this GB so instead of the common sense route of Tamiya's offering's I'll head back to Happy childhood days and Airfix's at the time much lauded release.KK have a dozen in stock so not sure which boxing will arrive if the decals are unusable AM will be bought.
  17. Good start James I had a go at the Airfix kit many moons ago probably way beyond my skills at the time this looks like a much more refined kit and as has been said scale wise one of the biggest we'll see.
  18. Many thank's glad it's noticeble, once I fit the superchargers more fading will be needed along the top of the boom's I've noticed it in wartime photo's I also need to research the rockets as I don't trust HB's silver with red tips suggestion! I've really enjoyed the bigger scale and think I'll do one more for this GB never one to take the easy route among kit choice's keep an eye out for it soon.
  19. Hi folk's the second coat brushed and passed over a few tomes with different shades to break up the finish still more to do but getting there.
