Revell 1/32 Hawker Hurricane new tooling.

Evening folk's cockpit almost done only the reflector gunsight and compas to add before buttoning up the fuselage,Revell have really done a great job on the cockpit which I think will suffice for the majority of modeller's be carefull sliding the seat assembly in to place it takes a bit of twisting and turning. Many will invest in an AM harness no doubt but I'm happy with painted tape and a sharp pencil!- 86 replies

Hi folk's the rest of the cockpit has been added and painted I was in two minds weather to paint and detail the instrument panel but glossed it and used the supplied decals which seems to work well, the seat has dried overnight and now is well stuck to the rear bulkhead so harness to add then gunsight and stage one is complete.- 86 replies

Hi folk's,fitted the chain and sprocket after painting then the swinging arm which uses a long screw to keep in place. Next step was to fit the sub assembly to the frame and add the passenger foot peg brackets and rear shocker's.

Couldn't agree more MJ, the Arial arrow was indeed an early Airfix offering too,I've painted the chrome trimming on the wheels and with the tyres on they look fine.

Revell 1/32 Hawker Hurricane new tooling.
stevej60 replied to stevej60's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Evening folk's here are the cockpit parts before painting and assembly take note the seat is made up of four parts as was the rear bulkhead and armoured headrest, personally detailed enough for me but no doubt the AM guys will be lavishing some sets soon enough. A great decal sheet is supplied but there is a lot of AM sets already available out there. Now for those with this kit or planning to buy it the plastic is soft and very workable but I feel a couple of the sprues especially containing these parts were softer than the wing and fuselage ones and would suggest your sharpest blade when cutting of those items that cant be accessed with modelling cutters a couple of items snapped removing them!- 86 replies

Hi folk's it's been a thing with me the last few years to start the year with a big scale build last year it was Trumpeter's Mig 3 but this year probably the kit I've been looking forward to for a couple of year's since it was first announced.I am an unashamed fan of the Hurricane and probably built more in various scales over the years than any other aircraft closely followed by the Bf109.so box art to set the scene. Now no doubt the die hard Hurricane enthusiast's will pick over the bones of this kit but so far no howler's have come to light on review's I've seen but time will tell. Now price,I'm tight as a drum with buying kits but if I wanted to build this I knew I'd have to shell out the £42 asking price at my LMS but with for example Airfix's 1/72 Buccaneer was sitting on the shelf at £36:99 That's not too bad and let me tell you the box is crammed with superb moldings very very ICM like in style and texture. Anyway that's about it for an introduction build begins soon.

Hi folk's started a good five or six years ago this kit is long overdue a finish, for a person who spent many years riding motorcycles I never have been keen on modelling them although pre biking years I did do the old Airfix kits as like a lot of modellers back then we did build every genre Airfix threw at us.I could make life easy and portray the wheels silver as this was an option on the Honda CB series back then but I like the black wheels with the silver trims as shown which is the job I'm on with now.As the build progresses I'll explain the painting of the engine as like many I think the chrome plastic just looks toy like. My own history with the real thing ran through four bikes my first was bought in 1979 brand spanking new for the then frightening sum of £795 Not my bikes but the same models. Suzuki GT200 Kawasaki KH250 Suzuki GT 750 Suzuki GS550 Katana. Anyway wiping away a slight tear here's where I am as of today.

Nowt worse Tony, just had the decals on my YF-16 disintegrate after what was a lovely paint job the kit was only a fiver which cushioned the blow I've had an Esci Fury for over three years cannot find replacement's for less than twice the price of the kit!
-
Well it's been a long time since October so better get started! It's not a complicated kit so can't see any issues finishing her in time so with the doors fitted the two part body is glued and drying nicely.
-
Lovely,I'm now officially tracking down Tamiya's 1/48 A3.

Excellent review Mike I hadn't realise this kit existed till the original boxing was under the tree at Christmas I can vouch for the superb quality ICM are turning out right now.

Cracking job luke considering the time you had to build them at least one of the Family got a build in this GB.Next time we'll have to share the bench but We can sort that.
-
Hi Graham I had similar issues but after getting a tip from a fellow BM Member on the last few I built glued the wingtips only and after a night to dry ran glue along the rest which somehow worked however the thick Trailing edge is still to be dealt with.
