  1. Well sad to say but the clearing of the loft has begun. We are finally updating the heating after 40 years the work involved in

re-working the floor to accomodate the insulation is financially unworkable so as a workspace it can't be used. This will  put a

big dent in my modelling in reality it's going to be back to a folding table somewhere in the house.Thankfully my stash only

consists of a dozen or so kit's  luke's on the other hand stands at nearly forty!

  2. If ever there was an incentive for Airfix to kit the Supermarine  Scimitar it's the fact that Extrakits

1/72 offering is fetching fifty six pounds on E-bay and people are still bidding!

  3. Well yesterday brought a surprise,I picked up Revell's 1/32 Spitfire MklX for a snip

on e-bay at £20 posted,it arrived yesterday in a suspiciously large box which only

contained the Technik version of the kit! I 've mailed the company explaining the

fact they've sent me a kit they advertise at a £100 more and await a reply!

Maybe I should have kept quiet Jean, the sender on the box is a different company

from the one I bought it from so really it's a third party that's lost out but it's only

a P.O address and I don't want it dragging on for ages.

  5. Parcel arrived today I thought great that'll be the Esci Crusader I won for four quid,

Oh no seller decided to send the old Hasegawa kit instead.Needless to say a strong

e-mail is winging it's way in his direction!

      Hi again Steve,

out of interest I have gone through all my data on the ESCI Crusader, and my humble advice is: "Give it a wide berth!"

It is bound to give you massive build headaches and you may end up binning it when you realize the work involved to fit the rear of the fuselage.

Hasegawa has a far better F-8, even if you have built it already, and of course Academy's F-8 is the cherry on top of the cake.

If I were you, I'd keep the Hasegawa kit and buy an Academy kit as a small present to myself!

      Have fun!!!

      JR

      stevej60

Seller replied quickly they are not modeller's so mixed the kit up it is a nice example of the

Hasegawa kit and as it was only £4 I've told her I'll keep it.

  6. It was a nice Father's day present,but what the Hell I'm I going to with Revell's

1/72 A400? the box is bigger than my workbench!

      JOCKNEY

Great present, are you going to get RAF decals for it  ?

It will be very impressive when you build it in the next Blitzbuild  GB !

      cheers Pat

    2. stevej60

      stevej60

Definitely RAF colour's Pat,but the thing is huge can't see a start this year though.

      Hi Steve,

never look a gift horse in the mouth!

Only one suggestion: try and do something really bad (like go and kiss a cop without your mask on!!!), get sent to jail for a couple of years, and Robert's your father's brother!

Any existentialist problems in the future, just ask me!

      Have fun

  7. Well the paint situation is now critical, two builds for the in the navy GB shelved and running on

fumes for a lot more projects,no sign of my LMS opening soon there's a DIY store I pass on the

way to work has a humbrol tins stand but I hate the damned thing's!

    1. Biggles87

      Biggles87

Oh dear, or words to that effect. Is there no chance of mail order if you use acrylics?

      jean

      Hi Steve,

Hannant's are working again, or so it seems.

They may be the answer to your problem!

      And Humbrol are NICE!!!

      Have a great day!

    3. stevej60

      stevej60

I use acrylics so mail order may be the way to go,cant understand why the dept store in town that stock's

Humbrol is closed yet another that sells exactly the same stuff except model paints is!My LMS stated the

fact that due to the older age of the majority of customers they were closing until further notice,I don't

know whether to be offended or not🤔

  8. Crisis time, that's me out of most paints now especially white damn it!

    1. jean

      jean

      Hi Steve,

if you look carefully, I am sure you'll find a 5 liter pot of white, along with the paint roller to use with it.

Beggars can't be choosers. You'll still make great models!

Alternatively, only build models you have the paints for! Like an all black Hurricane or Defiant!!!

      You shall overcome!

      And stay safe

hell the aged me is bloody scary look like "Eddy" Iron Maiden's mascot, then he took the photo!

  11. Due to the recent ruling by a Scottish Museum I'd like to ask the panel is it still OK to call an aircraft she?

  12. Well there's something you don't see every day! heard a noise in the blocked off portion of

of the loft, opened the door and had a starling wiz past my ear straight on  to one of the shelve's

little sod took out a whole row of model's before I got it out the window, seem's the Wildcat was no

    match for the Starling.

    1. spaddad

      spaddad

What an exciting life you lead.

    2. jean

      jean

      Steve,

do not mess around with Starlings in the loft!!!

Get an exorcist, and fast!!! It would help if he had a working knowledge of aircraft modelling, but all is not lost if he has not...

Very important: did it fly from left to right, and where did it impact the Wildcat?

Here we only have cobras in the bedroom. Nowhere near as serious as a starling in the loft.

Indeed, what a life you lead!!!

      Keep having fun.

      Ventora3300

Steve, but we need you at your prolific best (remember the prize you won on the Matchbox GB?) on the Airfix Golden Years GB as the end date is approaching and the completion rate is faltering. Is a finish on the Stirling possible or maybe surprise all with a smaller 'vintage' kit? Your Irish Hurricane is a cracker BTW so it would be great to see you keep up this good work. Cheers, Mike (ever hopeful).

    4. stevej60

      stevej60

Thank's Mike,Stirling will be there before the close, got a bee in the bonnet BoB build started in WIP,progress in the NATO GB and definitely

You are a lucky man, Steve.

Here, only vultures fly over us... and admittedly they are a tad quieter than a Dak right above your chimney, although they lack slightly in panache.
