  1. Evening folk's undersides now done and finally tackled those upper wing decals!
  2. Evening folk's primer dried nicely so a couple of sprayed coats of Vallejo chrome once dry should look nice glossed!
  3. Big project Alan but you're certainly making good progress best of luck should be very impressive in this scale.
  4. That's a superb build and modelling lesson Alan, looks fantastic!
  5. Thank's Tim,me two I was going to build the 1/32 Trumpeter kit in this scheme for the US Navy GB but have the Hellcat in the stash now for two years so really need to build it.Here's a pair of 1/72 HB easykits in the yellow wings scheme.
  6. Morning folk's for some reason I put this photo and info yesterday in a new post so I've asked the mods to remove that one I just forgot I'd already started one for this build! Anyway kit arrived all as expected, the seller wasn't sure it was complete hence the very reasonable £10 price tag but despite many parts being off the sprue it's all there. Won't start it till the F-3 and Seversky are done.
  7. Morning folk's,fitted the large glazing after painting the surrounding panel so masked till the silver finish is done, everything together now just primer needed on the wings then I can think of which paint to best reflect the highly polished finish.
  8. Hi folk's,kit arrived still sealed in celophane in only a couple of day's the seller Mark has been superb even messaged to ask for a photo when finished for £22.50 including postage well pleased.Must finish a couple of projects so be a week or so before starting in earnest.
  9. Morning folk's progress made due a matt coat next session.
  10. Morning folk's good progress with no issues, that large glass panel worried me so I thought as the wing to fuselage join needs no filler I would paint both then slip the glass in before joining them together.
  11. Morning folk's,no way was I going to attempt those underwing decals so out with the masking tape and paint, probably add a couple of days to the build but should still make the deadline.
  12. Morning folk's thought I'd start this one yesterday and after a bit of research on colours happy with the cockpit supplied.
  13. Hi folk's,the gloss dried overnight so the process of decalling has began and it's not going to be an easy ride!
  14. Hi folk's,gonna build this kit as not only were they based at times on NATO duties but they were used by member countries too.I did have a crack at this one when first released but made a hash of it hopefully with a better grasp of metalic finishes this one will be different, kit is ordered this is the boxing and the 75th fighter squadron scheme which carried it's sharkmouth markings from the P-40 through the Sabre,Voodoo,Corsair and A-10 Warthog's will be built at the time they were tasked with the defence of the US mainland.
  15. Great work Jari and I like your thinking with this nod to equipment available at NATO's begining's when we could have fought a war more akin the the one that had just ended rather than the Nuclear threat we grew up with later.Airfix just can't put a foot wrong with their family of newer tool Spitfire/Seafire kits in this scale.
  16. Hi folk's,so glad I took up this build again it's coming together nicely masked the red areas where no decal is supplied next job will be the wing leading edges before glossing. All the wheels and u/c are done so even though the GB is nearing it's conclusion I think I will have time to mask and paint the Red/White and Green underside's.
  17. Coming along a treat ED,much prefer the painted undersides and glad that nose panel did'nt give you any trouble inspiring me to push on with mine now thanks!
  18. Hi folk's you can see the extent of the filler used but it sanded well and looks fine under primer.Just given her two coats of Humbrol aluminium.
  19. Morning all, have to say this has been a joy to build and paint bodes well for the other two.Last lap now only the small amount of rigging and the glazing to add.
  20. Morning Folk's,took another look at the horrible shape of the nose due to the poor fit of the panel forward of the windshield got the filler out and over the last coupe of days gradually corrected the shape so with that done the primer is on and I reckon using the decals for the underwing,s and rattle can for the finish I can get this kit across the line and done as she deserves, fingers crossed!
  21. A great era of aircraft modelling Dennis, happy memories of Airfix's Devastator build when I was a kid,if I didn't need to get my 1/32 Helcat used from the stash a yellow wings Wildcat would have been on the cards for the US Navy GB.
  22. Hi folks, third and final build for this GB is an early version of the Wildcat in a late 30's yellow wings scheme fits in nicely with the other two builds. picked up for a tenner today.
  23. Morning folk's,built for the Mustang GB I thought as Lou IV is being built exactly as it should be by others taking part mine would be based on a restored Warbird in the colours we'd really like to think she was in,all brush painted and the rear cockpit removed for the second seat for the paying passengers! Many thanks for looking in.
  24. Hi folk's third HB kit for this build is Lou iv based on a U.S.restored Warbird.
