  1. I have an eye on the Vostok version too (but have none bought so far) so my attention here is guaranteed. Rene
  2. Very nice from Airfix - and smart too. Seems to be very nice stuff. I could never get a bottle of Klear and used the german equivalent "Glänzer", which is not too great. I am clearly looking forward to my first bottle Humbrol Clear ;-)
  3. Who is selling this? Edit: -Ups - already a year old...
  4. Eduard has released an etch set too, which addresses other details than the booms too.
  5. Wow - Revell includes a resin figure!?!? Nice review - will be tempted to buy one of these when I come close to one.
  6. What is wrong with it? I abandoned my Revell boxing after I found some decals are out of scale. I reprinted new ones but somehow lost track to finish it...
  7. Thanks Trevor - I will tr to find a copy of SAM. Rene
  8. G-AGDC sounds interesting - are there any pictures known of this Hudson?
  9. Great build article! Thanks for this remarkable work and all the detailed explanations.
  10. There is a 1-48 vac Hudson from Combat Models. I got it cheap from the bay together with some nice decals. My plan was to use the Revell PV-1 as detail spender (U/C, cockpit,...). I actually do not thing Revell will release a Hudson, as it is quite different AFAIK. Still waiting for some inspiration before I start it. OK Trevor - please go ahead ;-) René
  11. I have no info about issues with the Matchbox/Revell Victor. I suppose the fitting will not be exactly great and the level of detail will be as can be expected from a kit of this age. There are a few detail sets out there for it: Flight Path does some sets, Master casters and Resin Art are doeing replacement wheels. Then there are some Decal sets available. The kit is a tanker, so if you want to do the bomber version I suppose you need to enlarge the wing span - there was a set available from Modell Alliance but I bet it will be hard to find and quite expensive if you do so. If you go for the Hunter you should search the forum here for what changes to do (Heritage does a correction set and conversion sets as well). It is a nice kit which will build up well. But you should attach the wings before you close the fuselage - it will be much easier and saves you from using filler at the wing roots. How about the new Eduard Spitfire. I bet it is shake and bake and looks very nice. And if you want to try a resin kit have a look at Alley Cat Vampire. The price was lowered and it will be way cheaper than the Classic Airframes kit - which requires a fuselage correction set from Aeroclub if it should be correct. Concerning the Aeroclub Gnat it is likely to be re-released this year - best to ask John Aero himself. I am waiting for this too. Rene
  12. I suppose Eduard does more injection parts as they intent to box (box, decals, instructions). This is maybe due to injection production - it is probably not possible to say "Lets do 4000 kits" and after production you have just 4000 - no more no less. So to be on the save side they will probably add a few percent space and come out with trees for 4223 complete kits and then they sell the 223 as overtrees - minus some as spare parts I suppose. Well at least this is what I think.
  13. The "kit research" pages are invaluable. I was looking for an F-14 in 1-72 scale two weeks ago. I did not care for the kit decals but wanted a new mold certainly - I found it pretty hard to tell which current offering is old mold and which is new - even the price seemingly gives no clue!
  14. I used oven cleaner as well but sometimes it works great and sometimes not so... I think it also depent on the colour - flat black was difficult to strip and some paints did nearly not react at all (I do not know what stuff that paint is but I just could not get rid of it). Anyway I have no better solution for enamels than oven cleaner as well. I heared of using brake fluid too but did not try myself. One thing which works great with Tamiya colours is "Paint Killer" from Carson. It is quite expensive but works very fast: Damp a cloth and wipe the paint off :-) However I only tried it for Tamiya (no matter if flat or gloss - it works for the complete range).
  15. Very nice! What etch parts did you order for the wheels? Did you get them by now?
  16. HLJ has listed it already - I must say the price is very attractive... Are there any known bigger issues with this? I think most of their Space kits are done quite nice however the1-48 Lunar Lander might be a question of taste with the injected foil (which kept me from buying it), but I think it is otherwise quite accurate.
  17. Nice link Sergey - it makes the issues very visible and tells me where to correct what very clearly. The Revell kit is not as bad as I thought (in fact I thought it is the same as the Lindberg before I read this post) still a lot to correct...
  18. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I am getting bankrupt this year... :-) If the Traveller is a Renwal, then we know where the Renwal molds have gone (well at least I did not know - but I also did not wonder much about it). However if the Traveller mold IS defective the others will be probably as well. Anyhow it would be a lovely idea, if they would rerelease them. But please: Not this year ;-) Rene
  19. Nice buildTerry! Is Whirlybird still in business Dave? Where can I get their kits? Rene
  20. The worst kit is more likely the Lindberg Aston Martin Le Mans. I think I had never again such a puzzled look on my face when I opend a box the first time. Rene
