  1. I ordered some Evergreen International decals from him. My day job is working for the company that took over Evergreen’s MRO operation, and we have a lot of guys that worked for Evergreen. They all agreed the colors were pretty off, and they definitely had a blurry quality to them. The doors were sized wonky compared to the Hasegawa ones, and all the smaller decals are pretty much indistinct blobs.
  2. Progress! Got the thing primed, and tried not to worry about all the little issues that I saw, and started preshading. I went for lighter greys on top, a bit darker on the sides and darker yet on the bottom. Kinda a zenithal pre-shade but with no predetermined lightsource. I also mixed some blue to the panels to give some variation. That said, the shade difference really isn't that noticeable so I'll either try more contrasty mixes next time, or just stick to one color all over the model. Next will be very thin coats of Tamiya NATO black mixed a bit lighter to build up the black color. Oh, and find the canopy...
  3. Eh, only a bit more than two months since the last update. Not much else done, but I did design, print, and mount an IRST that was very, very inspired by the one on the MiG-29. Hoping to final prime and prep for paint this weekend.
  4. Still working on the old girl—just swamped with the RL. I'm calling filling and sanding done and it's now going to be ready for primer. Coloring is going to be tricky. Obviously, I know it's black, but with the scale effect and wanting to actually see some of the details, I'm going to have to do some research. I have a MiG-37 kit that I'll paint the same way. I did finish up ordnance I think. Wingtips will get the R3R above. Will get some B8M rocket pods: And some FAB-250-M62 Bombs:
  5. The cockpit tub is pretty close. I did some hand fitting, traced the corrected profile, scanned and inserted it back into Fusion as a canvas to make adjustments. Hopefully, that will be close enough to start detailing for the final print.
  6. Thanks, and yea, took a few different goes. First used black CA and then Tamiya Putty. Still some deep scratches and such that I'm going to try some Mr. Dissolved Putty on. Nothing hard, and thankfully no re-scribing is needed on the side, just some time with some sandpaper. I actually have another on order to do a Mexican AF one. Thanks! Its been fun so far, A nice "breaking in" kit for sure. Here is a render of t he R3Rs for the wingtip launchers: Not a lot of great images out there for it, so some artistic license was taken. Not sure what I'll do for the rest of the pylons, maybe some bombs or some AGMs/Rocket Pods.
  7. Thank you! Some more work on the ersatz Mig. Bodywork is like 85% I'd say, just some small areas left to clean up before painting. I think I settled on what to put on the wingtip rails, some R3R, which is the SARH version of the R-3/AA-2/AIM-9B. Figure that's a nice compromise between looking correctly Soviet while sticking with the base Sidewinder chassis.
  8. Worked some more on the cockpit. and printed out the next iteration test on the resin printer. It helps to be able to draw easily on the resin for measurements etc. I need to adjust the side panels to match the cockpit cutouts better and work on the "under the dashboard" (is that what it's called in planes?) area. I'm debating cutting that part out entirely and making that part of the cockpit insert, but I'll get everything else done first. I also needed to widen the insert by about a mm on each side. H I had to sand the front quite a bit to get it to fit so fixing that in the design. Drawing on the kit part to help figure out angles and measurements from the tub. A little too narrow. Easy enough to fix. A little closer...
  9. I was eyeing those chinese KraZ I may pick one up after all then. I picked up a couple of Zils from ICM and found a 3D model of Kraz. was thinking fo trying to make the two mix together, but I think I'll try the Chinese option for now and see waht I think. Thanks folks!
  10. It's the FBminis kit, and it has an ALQ pod, not a sparrow pylon. Sorry!
  11. I have a resin ADF conversion set somewhere, I’ll see if it has any pylons—it’s been awhile since I had a look at it.
  12. Ah, that makes sense! And Thank you! No much modeling the last few days, but we did get to go to Pima Air and Space museum today! I took slightly more than a bajillion pictures, and spent some quality time with lady: I did manage to sneak some prints in too: A new main wheel, and a 75% KM-1 seat. I say 75% becuase I'm not going for absolute accuracy here, but I want to make sure if you know ejection seats, that you know what it is. It's washed out becuase of the gray but I think it looks the job. Once I get it sized right, I'll do inserts to give it that prominent texture those seats have.
  13.  WIP of some new dubs for my MiG.

  14. Managed to get three blanks printed, one 'full' one, one that had the, uh, under-dash part cut off and one that was basically a block to make sure the width settings were correct. It's closer than I'd figured it would be considering it's based off of random internet drawings and scans of late-night tracings. Th The spinal hump needs to be pushed back about 1.5 mm and the curve could use a little work, but unlike PLA, UV resin sands (too) easily so I may just adjust the curve 'by hand". And here's the render of the SARH R23/24 (I always mix up which is which) with my first attempt of enginnered supports. They worked ok, but I've since revised it. I have the IR one done as well. And here's a couple of crappy pics, one of the fin arieals popped off when I was cutting the missile free, but pretty happy with it. And here's a real one:
