  1. Yeah I would be up for this. Any idea when this is likely to run.
  2. So my putty arrived today, have never used this before So will try this on the model tomorrow and see how it turns out. Hve to admit I am still not feeling the love again for modelling, but I may just need to get that first one complete and it see the end results. Fingers crossed.
  3. Hooray, it's beginning to look a lot like an aeroplane Can see a few areas that need some filler. Waiting on that arriving,so will get the upper wings on tomorrow
  4. Taking shape. Not sure I like this method of construction, but will see how it goes.
  5. Undercarriage bays, and radiator
  6. Came here from your post in my WIP. Very nice. Will be happy if mine turns out to that standard.
  7. Pedals and control column And instrument panel. The decal for this seemed really thick. 10 minutes in warm water and it still didn't want to come away from the backing. I am hoping this isn't how all the decals are going to be. Used some microsol to help but it ended up sitting a bit skew whiff, and with the thickness of it wasn't easy to manipulate and get sitting right.
  8. Lol, I wouldn't be comparing my abilities, they are nothing to brag about that's for sure. But am enjoying it, though I have definitely lost the knack. Interior sort of coming along, dirty grimy and worn. Certainly not accurate colours I would think, but its all going to disappear once the fuselage is joined anyway.
  9. So I did make a start on this today. First mistake I forgot to wash the sprues. When I tried to begin to paint, it wouldn't stay on for love nor money. So quick wash and try again. Really haven't done much at all, just some interior sections. Following the instructions although I am sure the inside of the radiator intake should be camo and not interior green. But at this scale it probably won't show up much anyway.
  10. So this is going to be my first build back after a 5 to 6 year hiatus due to health issues. It will be an OOB build and I imagine progress will be fairly slow as I Re learn techniques and the best way of working that suits me. I am not going to get too hung up on details, as long as it comes out looking like a Tiffy I will be happy. Will be brush painted with a mix of Tamiya, Revell and Humbrol acrylics.
  11. Replies like this are what I remember this forum being like. Helpful friendly and a great community. Thanks again guys for the kind words and war welcome. Managed to get my stuff together and set up on a table in the spare room.
  12. Thank you guys. Have enjoyed looking back through pages of RFI and WIP threads over the last couple of days. I think I have managed to revive some of the acrylic paints too
  13. The thing that annoys me is the lack of functionality in the apps. Can't seem to get blogger to work on my phone. Can take the photo, upload it. But can't hotlink, haha. Figured it out
  14. Thanks Tony. I appreciate the offer and am going to take a trip to Hobby craft today. Most of my paints etc have dried up, so basically everything is required. If I still need anything I will let you know, as is do remember how expensive this can be. Most of the cost comes with the things to make the models, they themselves are quite cheap really.
  15. So I made a return to modelling back in 2013 and 2014 and was really enjoying it. Some may remember some of my posts, working in 1/72 scale and brush painting. Unfortunately having looked all of my photos are gone due to Photobucket debacle. A period of illness and a lot of subsequent suffering with my depression meant I didn't keep the modelling up. Recently a friend showed me some of his Gunpla models and that made me rethink the hobby. So I had a quick look in my cupboards and found I have these in the stash So I hope to make a start once I get new paints and glues etc.
  16. Nice. I made a Starfix Mustang (which I believe is the Matchbox kit) a few years ago for an under a tenner group build. Yours looks great and although they aren't that accurate a model. They still resemble a Mustang.
  17. Absolutely beautiful for that scale. Well done.
  18. So these are my 2014 completions Revell 1/72 Canberra Pr9 Revell 1/72 Tornado Gr1 converted to Gr4 Airfix 1/72 FW190 A8 Airfix 1/72 Zero Starfix 1/72 P51d Mustang Airfix 1/72 F51 Mustang Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Revell 1/72 Fokker DVII Hasegawa 1/72 F4j Phantom
  19. But consensus is she would have had the soft edged camo with lag undersides? Re squadron markings, pictures later than 67 show her with 617 markings on the tail, so I am a bit confused about this.
  20. This is the excerpt from the flying log 01 Apr 64 To Hawker Siddeley Aviation, Woodford for modifications retrofit. (Mvt card dates this as 2 April 64-but see above. This was the commencement of the retrofit of the original 26 Blue Steel Vulcans and took 12 months involving improvements to existing radar, jammers and sensors plus additional equipment. The Olympus 201 engines [long tail pipes] would be replaced by Olympus 301s [short tail pipes]. The removal of XL318 and XL319 for retrofit reduced the number of Blue Steel Vulcans on Bomber Command strength to 24). 14 Apr 65 To RAF Scampton.
  21. Ah thanks for the help. I have a pdf of a flying log for XL318 which states it was a 617 jet. Having just looked at it again, it became part of Scampton wing in feb 64, and in April 64 went to Woodford where it was retrofitted to use the 301 engines. Thanks for the comment, as i had missed that completely.
  22. Would this have been the softer edged camo or the hard edged? Of course i hope i am right in presuming it wouldn't still be anti-flash white? Struggling to find any definitive info on this airframe in that period, other than i believe it being a 617 Blue Steel B2.
  23. Its funny, because there must be more than one version of the art about, as this looks familiar on a Flypast cover, but had stabilisers Loving the progress with this
  24. Putting the straps up like that also helped keep the fragile back pad straight, and stop some clumsy mech/tech/pilot/nav from getting in and breaking it asfaik.
  25. I would love to see a Lightning and EF Typhoon paired take-off and vertical climb, followed by a display by the Lightning. Other choice would be a low level Bucaneer flypast.
