  14. Hello Junchan and Jan, Thanks for the update and corresponding links. The set from Whirlybird is what started my search for the VXE6 Sikorsky equipped with skis. Could not find one picture with the skis. As mentioned above, my search did lead me to former members of VXE 6. They operated the LH-34D (three exhaust pipes) and never operated the skis. As for winterizing the Sikorsky: 'Closure of the clamshell door with tarpon, to minimize the incoming wind/cold. Connected to a Herman Nelson heather, with flexible hose that connecting point under the clamshell door. The "Nelson" brought hot air around the radial engine. By the right engine temperature the "switch On " handle was activated. Any more pictures with the skis (close up) are most welcome. Regards, Orion.
  15. Hello Junchan,

    Your picture is much appreciated.

I was in contact with former members of VXE6 and the told me: "We have never seen any LH-34D with skis. "

    Your picture proofs the opposite.

Difference: Their pictures show the type with three exhaust pipes from the radial engine.

This model has only one exhaust. (Seabat/Choctaw/)

  17. hello Keith, Job well done. This aircraft type will be remembered for a long time. Very successful design and skillfully flown by Argentine aviators. Regards, Orion.
  18. Hello HartDeco, Hello René Fantastic build. fantastic photography. It takes a lot of spirit to start with this color scheme. Finished and weathered to the highest model standards. Regards, Orion-The Netherlands.
  19. Hello Filbert, Despite the throwbacks during construction (we all have these sometimes) you did a splendid job. It is a eye catcher first class. US Coast Guard planes are definitely clean. Always. For the modeler, these color schemes gives a lot of color on the camouflage and grey model table. Interesting is the fact, that these planes were takeovers from the USAF. If the buy was politically motivated I don't know. For sure was the fact, that the USAF was not happy with the AC. As for the Coast Guard, their fixed AC are getting smaller. No endurance like the Hercules C-130. Operating with different types, from different company's gives a headache to the supply and maintenance department. Currently; USCG HC-130H /C-27J Spartan and the Ocean Sentry/Minotaur HC144 (Airbus Military CN-235). Nice model in 1/72 scale! 👍 All in all ten different types of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. To much in these days. Regards, Orion
  20. Hello Junglierating,

Would you be so kind, to explain what the function is from the I-band bean Can on the Wessex HAS3.

    Thanks,

    Regards, Orion.

      Hi,

Of course its no secret.... basically its for Naval aircraft ....when interrogated by ships radar the aircraft responds with a reply (both in the I band frequency) this then puts an eyebrow on the aircrafts radar return on the radar operators screen.Useful at low level or if you have a lot of aircraft in the air around the task force.Especially useful in bad weather or if there is a lot of ground clutter.

Note this is completely different to IFF interrogations.....different system different responses for different reasons.

      Regards

      Hello Junglierating,

      Thanks for the explanation.

So, if I understand you well, the Can reflects on the ships radar. It is  a friendly aircraft and it states exact location for (air) traffic control.

      If wrong, please responds.

      Regards,

      Orion.

Basically yes you are correct but it's not a reflected signal it's an Radio frequency return 😃

  21. Hello Kenny, Being a Dutchman, I am proud to see this type of aircraft on this site. The F-27 was truly a very successful design. Politics killed the Fokker Factory. Stil around today, hauling cargo and passengers worldwide around to very remote areas. Your model depicts the beauty of the design. The paint scheme is immaculate. I am not a rivet counter, but your story leaves no doubt, you put a lot of effort into this model. The Dutch Friendship Association only recently bought a F-27 (C-31A) from the US Army. After a transatlantic ferry it is back were it all started. So, after COVID, we can enjoy the hauling sound of the RR turbines ones again. Highest Regards, Orion.
  22. Hello Dmitry, Famous aircraft in the French livery. Excellent construction. Extra colorful with the French Flag and the Navy cocarde. Regards, Orion
  23. Hello Spitfire, My highest compliments in regards to your model. It looks fantastic. Regards, Orion
