  1. Did a bit of research trying to find a pretty looking Mk.Ix and this one stood out from the crowd! I really like unique spinners and not too many spits have designs on their props. I don't suppose you can tell me if Wg Cdr Bradley's aircraft hand much dealings with V1s can you? I know the unit wasn't posted for long at RAF Twente (Dutch) as most dogfighting was over as far as I can tell, but I'm assuming some bomb chasing was still going on in 45. I ask as this is the subject of my diorama Im making. btw, Here is a another model with a half blue (lighter shade) spinner i did. TYP-2
  2. haha thanks mate. Slow shutter + 5 second count down + Grown man spinning a tiny prop with his finger and blowing as hard as he can = looking like a complete plonker! Pilot has been demoted. Currently on latrine duty over the weekend. Its curry night tomorrow!
  3. Thank you all for such positive comments. Much appreciated
  4. Not much work done on the diorama, but finally finished the Spitfire Spitfire LF.IXe PT959 RAF Twente 45 SpitfireMkIXeA SpitfireMkIXeD More pics on the link:
  5. Will check out your link. Thank you. Cracking job recreating that picture. Have to admit, for a few seconds I thought that was a diorama LOL.
  6. Hello modellers. Spitfire LF.IXe PT959 RAF Twente 45 Finished this Eduard Weekend Edition kit with PE parts. The Spitfire is for a diorama I'm still currently building called 'How to deal with a doodlebug.' Seeing how the model will partly live in a dark hanger, thought I should take some pics whilst its outside. Beautiful kit of a simply stunning aeroplane. Really struggled to do this any justice. Never was a fan of clipped wings, but this kit changed my mind. Now think it looks quite aggressive with the short wings. Thanks for looking. 7. Thank you mate. Very kind. The snow media is from a company called 'precision snow effects'. Glued on with lots of hairspray and scenic glue (tints yellow so had to airbrush some white in after). The gloppy snow is mixed with silicone gel and PVA.
  8. Your right mate. Think I'll be only using a fraction of the kit, so maybe scope for 2nd scene another day. Fantastic idea with the mirror. I really like that! Could be a game changer for me with such tight restrictions. Great idea. Thank you Awesome F16 model! Well done.
  9. Thank you and good luck with your project. Look forward to seeing your model here once its finished
  10. Utterly mind blowing work Alessandro_Jug! Quite possibly the most realistic detail and scene i have ever seen. Those chairs are outstanding! Could look at those pics for hours and still not see all the details you have included! Amazing skill!
  11. Thank you so much Ghost69. Up until 2020 some of those diorama had different bases. The Lysander scene was much bigger and needed lots of landscaping to fit the new parameter. A few early models had thin boards too which needed some work. Not a bad thing though as I wasn't happy with some of these scenes,so was a good excuse to rebuild them. The display cabinet I'm using benefited from taller scenes, so I gave them all a 1"thick chunky base. This is now standard. 20201219_115211 Thanks again. Much appreciate mate
  12. Thats impressive work Bar Side! Thats massive! Love those blast doors besides the F111. Prototype is going to be a must. Got a feeling some rethinking is needed. This is an interior dio and I now want to now make a another, but exterior the time. Not much space is it! HURR-1
  13. Thanks bar side. Totally agree. Such a shame that ramp at Duxford is tucked away in the corner. Would be much nicer to see inside the Vehicle Hall with a mock-up V1 on top. The more I consider that hanger kit, the more I'm concerned its too big! I only have a small area available to display, so restrictions are tight. May have to use some 'artistic licence' to reduce door widths and over all height.
  14. Thank you so much. Very much appreciated. ... and good luck on your builds! Glad my feeble efforts may in someway help and motivate, just as others here inspire me.
  15. Stunning diorama. Could look at this for hours! The faces and positioning of the figures is so realistic. Well done
  16. Really love this model. Excellent work. Makes me want to join a flying club and learn to fly.
  17. Hanger Found this kit online made with pre-cut wood slats. Its really big in 1/48 scale so decided to build only a section. Will be interesting to figure out how I can preserve the structure and still fit a Spitfire inside with only a minimal of space available. WIP-Hanger
  18. Base The frame is a white 1" cube picture frame I always use for my dioramas. Fits A4 size pictures. (210 x 297mm) I normally glue the base card in with hot glue and add little felt feet to stand off the floor/table. The retaining lip that holds the glass is also removed with a sharp craft knife. About 5mm lip I usually fit the diorama onto the frame base at the last stage, but on this occasion as I need to work out the hanger position, I shall fit it first. Once I have made the hanger section, I need to decide where the channel for the bio-fold doors will go and cut out the gap. The floor (Which was completed awhile ago while I was doing the other models) is basically roof felt which was squashed flat over a few weeks outside. Washed throughly (watch out for thats nasty black tar) and pre-shaded with panel lines. Tones of various shades of grey were added with an airbrush and random dusting of MIG european earth dust added. Drain cover included too for a bit of variety. Hope I positioned that right! 19. For anyone interested, Just started a WIP on a current diorama called: How to deal with a doodlebug. see below,...
  20. Hi modellers, Was asked by a couple of people on here and FB if I had ever done a WIP on any of my current diorama (see below),... which I have not! So, for the this one I have decided to try and document the process. Here it goes.... Enjoy Subject: Spitfire Mk.IXe. Half inside a hanger (T2 maybe) and a captured V1 flying bomb on a trolley. Crouching pilots being instructed by a senior officer on the best ways of 'wing tipping' a bomb standing besides a chalk board. Progress: Started building the kit from a Eduard Weekend Edition kit with aftermarket PE parts (Seat belts) and aftermarket decals. Spitfire going together nicely. Just needed some filler on the wing seams. I always build the prop first as thats most enjoyable part. WIP-Models WIP-Spitfire
  21. Wow. What a fantastic comment. :) Thank you. If Im honest, I rely on distractions with lots 'going on' to make up for my inabilities with the airbrush. Would love to be able to pre-shade and detail like you people, but its a dark art to me. Dust effects and weathering can hide a multitude of sins. ;) Very kind mate. And very much appreciated :)
  22. Thank you so much James. My pleasure. Happy modelling in 2021
