Very nice indeed. You can really pack in the detail to a 1/72 scale airliner - end result is stunning! -
Ilyushin IL-86 Uzbekistan Airlines UK-86090 1/144 Zvezda

IL86 and Uzbek scheme - winning combination! Looking good so far. -
The poll is all setup now I see - in reviewing the completed photo entries I have 4 or 5 favourites out of a great selection of completed models - 39 completed kits and a great variation of subject. Now decision time - tough one!
-
Gallery has gone now - maybe page is being edited for the poll right now?

Nice aircraft, nice scheme and great finishshed model! -
John gonna call this spooky! I too have just completed the Amodel Tu-104 for the airliner GB -using the BOA CSA decals! Very nice result you have - yours has a glass nose whereas I used the decal - glass wins I think! I added a few more aerials and painted the wingtips red. Cant believe how similar they turned out - I chose OK-LDA as well from the 3 decal options! My offering for comparison here, John

QANTAS B737-838 VH-VXQ **FINISHED**

Cracking result Ray - looks good on or off the stand! -
Thanks Keith - although I wouldnt call it little! Compare it to an A320 in length and it must have been quite high off the ground with its 'stalky' undercarriage. Maybe I will post up a pic with something else for comparison!
-
Dave thanks for the compliments - specially knowing the qulity of your own airliners! The 104 is a nice kit - end of! I kept getting 'advice'at my local modelling club that I should have bases for my kits - so coastal was a quick fix - looks fine for that era as well! I have a stalled Amodel An72 that I would like to finish - I dont recall any problems but my standards may have risen in the years since I last saw it! Aerflot polar scheme, faded is what I have in mind for it after a visit to Bykovo in 2008

Cheers Zebra! I am glad you like it. Agree with the minor negatives but overall it looks like a Tu104 all the way. The wingtips are usually painted red for russian built machines but some pics showed CSA 104s with and some without the painted wingtips - so you have licence to please yourself on that one! John

OK I'm calling it finished. Havent panel washed anything or coated with future but think I will leave it in pristine condition! Enjoyable build and great decals from BOA - a good model can be built realtively easily from this Amodel kit. Aerial cable added which is stretched sprue rather than EZ line. A few small aerials made too. Photos in the gallery.

Very nice Alexy - i will post mine shortly for comparison!

1/144 Ilyushin IL-14 - more Amodel!
Jpthedog replied to Jpthedog's topic in Airliner III Group Build
Small update - cockpit glazing glued in place, filling, sanding continues, engine cowlings on and exhausts finished with brass tube of different sizes! Looking like an Il-14! F-RSIN Malev decals arrived so I could use these, but the windows are decals and I had anticipated filling mine with clear glaze..... Oh and hope I have enough lead weight in the front end! -

Laurent at F-RSIN got back to me so thats Malev decals ordered. Fuselage together, tail plane on and engine intakes blanked. Some minor filling at the usual joints and the cockpit painted. Pic to follow -
So thats where the different coloured panels are! Looking good. Great to see 2 Tu104s in this GB, John

1/144 Ilyushin IL-14 - more Amodel!
Jpthedog replied to Jpthedog's topic in Airliner III Group Build
Brief update. Wings now assembled and looking at the engines. Now this is supposed to represent the engine exhausts..... Check the real thing: So we will need to do a wee bit of scratchbuilding here Fuselages sides prepared before they are glued together - lead weights superglued in as it will be a tail-sitter for sure! I also filled the nose with filler as I want to drill out later for the landing lights in the nose. The scoop below the engine requires some sort of grille - so another wee improvement required. Overall the kit is a fine shape but the small parts are often just a hint of what the real thing looks like, being probably due to the production limits of short run kits. Enjoying it so far tho! -
Jeff Cheers - blue and red both look good in my opinion. Yeah get that 104 finished! John
-
Thanks for the comments and links to the real aircraft - great to see that it did existi in those colours! Got some aerials to put on and the dreaded undercarriage doors - attached with 'skyhooks' as per usual! Not massive progress, but I'm really liking the 104 so heres another pic!
-
Great work on this kit. I have it too, so picking up a load of tips from you - cheers, John

1/144 Authentic Airlines BAC 1-11-500 *FINISHED*

Crew looking great - and in that scale! -
OK a month to go on this GB so I will have a go at another model, seeing as the TU-104 is complete, bar a few aerials etc! I like the Amodel Russian subjects and they build into a decent representation of the real thing in my opinion. Here goes - quick pics so I can get cracking later today. Usual wobbly panel lines but its a simple looking kit and I think it will build quickly. Might use the Aeroflot kit decals, but not sure how good they are - anyone got any experience here? Windows I hope to fill with the Humbrol stuff if they are not too big - will do a test later. I have the Amodel Il-12 so I may build that alongside in a production line style! Again decals look questionable but what are the aftermarket options?
