Not meaning to drift the thread but Classic Airlines have an Air Anglia F-28 sheet in their catalogue - CA144-438. I have it in my stash and it's lovely.
Actually ordered this a week ago along with BOAC VC10 decals - help get two stalled airliners completed

Halfway through the build. Plastic is probably typical FRSIN soft and panel lines a bit indistinct. Shape is ok maybe the nose should be a bit blunter and I made my own airbrake hinges as these were not great on the kit. Sitting ready for primer. Air Anglia decals may be not as sharp as I would like. Overall with a bit of care it will be a decent model of the F28

Very smart pair of models! I like the Vega Gull scheme and the DH60 is another favourite. Great work in 1/72 scale!

Great attractive models. What did you use for the Vega bluey green/ turqouisey colour???? I have these in 1/72 to do.
Paul apologies for dreadfully late reply! Thanks for your comments. Paint used was Vallejo Game Effects Verdigris 72.135 - no idea how I arrived at that but it is a lovely paint to spray on and is a close match to the decals.

What a lovely pair, they look wonderful. You have done a grand job on them both, the window framing on the Vega Gull looks particularly good too. Wonderful.
Saw a Procter flying yesterday at Headcorn Aerodrome, got a video of it taxiing and taking off. Also got the Procter in the stash.
Great work
Chris
Thanks Chris. I used a chrome pen for the window framing after masking it. Haven't seen a Proctor flying for ages - I must come down from the North sometime! JP

It is a very pretty little aeroplane, and I love your rendition. Did you custom mix the fuselage colour?
I was tempted by this in 1/48, but git the 1/72 version instead as it would fit in with my Tiger and Gypsy Moth collection. But I may get a 1/48 version as well having seen how beautifully yours has turned out.
Cheers
John
Thank you John. Paint used was Vallejo Game Effects Verdigris 72.135 - no idea how I arrived at that but it is a lovely paint to spray on and is a close match to the decals. Do like the DH Moths too 1/72 and 1/48.

May I ask what paint did you use for that?
Cheers Whirly. See above on the paint
Just got to look for another model to use it on!

This one was part of a twin build, the other being DoraWings Proctor qualifying for the Anzac GB which is just finishing. I felt that building two similar kits at once would be efficient........we all know that thought probably!
Any way I present the Vega Gull representing VP-KCC the aircraft flown by Beryl Markham who flew across the Atlantic solo in 1936.
DoraWings kits, the three I've built anyway, are quite frustrating - decent representations of the aircraft, but minor errors in the instructions and parts make for a more troublesome build than they might be. Overall happy with the results though.
I scratched the long range fuel tank and placed this where the rear seat would have been. No reference photos for this, so artistic licence used. Also scratched the exhausts which probably cant be seen in pics but are surprisingly not represented in the kit.....
And in the company of the Proctor built at the same time.

Hope of interest

Calling the Proctor and Vega Gull finished. Some quick pics before posting in the gallery. Decals are thin and care is needed when applying but they lay down well,
Not a bad match - paint and decals.Complete and with sister build
Happy with the completed builds and liking the old colours of these civil birds. Dora Wings would really do themselves a favour by proof reading the instructions - otherwise an enjoyable build.

Is this a "new" mould or, a re-boxed one and if so, from which company?
Cheers,

According to Scalemates this was a new tool in 1998 and has since been reboxed by Heller and Italeri in more recent times.

A placeholder if I may, while I finish off two builds for the ANZAC GB and progress two more for the Anything but Plastic GB. Acquired this kit in Spain before they changed from pesetas to Euros - so a while ago! Using this years various group builds to shape what I am making in 2021 and now a fine excuse to build this one. Will be Spanish AF but not done any research yet.
Box shot only as I haven't even opened the contents.
Cheers

Davey your Vega Gull looking very smart. Like the 1/48 version the glazing proving to be more difficult than it need be. You say nav lights to be added - are these clear or, as in the 1/48 version, solid?? JP

Progress and racing to completion on both Proctor and Vega Gull. Apologies I should have posted before now but here we are up to date.
Proctor all together now with canopy/cockpit being put together. Unneccesarily comes in 6 pieces and with the Proctor, a part that is not correct as far as I can tell. As you can see I glued each side to the main fuselage and then the front main cockpit window. I found the 2 rear sections too tall for the fuselage, so the usual fettling. Not 100%, but its acceptable for my standards.
Here you can see the white plastic insert that is not present as part of the kit.
White primer on top of red to allow the frame colour to be seen from inside....
Also sand and fill and sand again to remove seams....
The kit comes with vinyl masks for the glazing but this does not sit on curved windows so I masked with foil tape and cut with sharp scalpel.
And here we are as of 30 minutes ago. Silver which is AK Metal Extreme aluminium which looks OK for for silver on fabric. And using the new airbrush today the Mr Hobby acrylic wine colour. No decals for any of this - so some involved masking. Canopy better on the Vega Gull!
Let the paint cure until tomorrow then its suddenly decal time!

Not much time spent modelling this week but here is Sunday afternoon progress.
I carefully aligned the wings and fuselage and went for it with the 'sets too quickly' superglue gel. Tailplane on as well.
Then filled the big gaps which will be sanded back and no doubt filled and sanded before an acceptable concealment of the joins is achieved. Using Humbrol filler, which gets a bad name, but seems to be sand-able and not too hard or too soft. No idea if it should be used with resin but it appears to adhere well.....
Undersides
Next is a small quandry - use the, I think, mis-shaped stabilisers or make some new to right size and shape?
I dont have any plans of the Languedoc, but comparing with kit artwork and two profiles from the net....
Overall its coming together quickly - sand and prime next week hopefully

Nice one - mine is on the shelf of doom but I hope to get it back on the table this year and finish it alongside the Mikro Mir version. My Heritage version has a quite bended fuselage and other issues I forgot but nothing too serious I remember.
I think the Mikromir kit is much more sophisticated and plastic of course. Heritage resin is warped here m there but that is expected - will bend back with assistance of hot water!

Steve Heller instructions are a joy and their kits straightforward compared to some of the stuff I build....

Unusually for me I planned my years intended builds by looking at the Britmodeller group builds for the 2021 and worked out which ones I wanted to join. So here is my second non injection GB entry - a F-RSIN resin kit of the lovely post war Languedoc airliner in Air France colours. My plan hopefully coming together later in the year with another 144 airliner for the French Fancy GB, again in Air France colours.
So here we have it - simple looking kit with minimal number of parts
Box and decals
Fuselage and winds - two pieces - bonus!
#
And lastly white metal props, brass tube undercarriage and resin tail plane.
The fuselage and wings are fine smooth resin and hopefully I will add some subtle panel lines to add interest.
Done no real research yet but hoping to put this recently acquired kit together quickly and test out the new airbrush on the all important paint scheme - all silver, so preparation is everything!
Cheers

Steve - I couldn't remember any issues at all with the kits - so checking the pictures I think the bulkhead sits in the lower section - as long as your does then it should be fine. Hope that helps, JP

I quite agree about the Comet being a really graceful craft. And love the gloss black with gold lettering; this is going to be good. I can feel it!

Unusually I listed my planned build for 2021 and I looked through the BM Group Builds and 'Anything but Injection' appealed to me to make something different. So whilst the Anzac GB continues, and my two entries are gradually reaching completion, its time to jump into another GB!
So I offer up the Heritage Aviation 1/48 DH88 Comet racer in resin and white metal as a qualifying entry. One of the local modellers recently built the Micromir version and made a great job of it and I know it will take a bit of patience to get the resin version anywhere near to that, but I'm aiming for a nice gloss black G-ACSR 'Black Magic'- registration in gold decals. Another 1930;s machine, but is there a better era for aviation?
Obligatory pre-start shots this morning:
Kit decals are for G-ACSP but I also bought the Whirlybird decals for G-ACSS just in case I changed my mind - well actually I thought they were 1/72.......
No instructions with the kit but its relatively few parts:
Aaah the bag of white metal bits - thats why superglue was invented right?? And two canopies predicting the average modeller will screw up the first one.... plus anothe vac form shape x 2 which I presume to be undercarriage doors.....
The GB for all will be more of a challenge for all compared to the usual plastic kits but looking forward to it. The Comet is also one of the most elegant aircraft of its time and era and this will be the first one that I will complete. I have 3 1/72 versions in primer that were started by a fellow now departed modeller and completing them will be a tribute to him.
Also hope to enter another simple resin kit into this GB, but I am reserving judgement and a decision until I've looked in the box again...
As always good luck to all entering and here's to us all completing our chosen model (s)!

Great stuff JP
I really hope you can still see those lovely interiors when the fuselage is closed up. What are the clear parts like ?
Cheers Pat
Pat I've been a bit latchy with posting pics - both kits taking longer than they should due to poor instructions....
Any way the Vega Gull glazing is on and painted and you can see a reasonable degree - at least you can see the fuel tank! Should get the Proctor glazed and primed this weekend and post a long overdue update. Thanks for asking, JP

Very nice result. Can I ask how you solved the construction of the undercarriage? I keep looking at mine and putting it back in the box!!
